The challenge is to store, handle and analyze large volumes of network traffic. Attackers are exploiting the vulnerabilities in TCP/IP protocol suite and manipulating various attributes to launch attacks. In this paper, the attacks on TCP/IP protocol suite at the transport and network layer are studied and the significant network features being misused are identified. The key fields of the protocols are correlated with the attacks and are extracted from the packet capture files. These values are stored in a database and statistical information for determining various attack thresholds is derived. This information helps in identifying suspicious addresses and marking evidence packets for forensic analysis. These packets comprise of the highest probable evidence and are converted to a new packet capture file. The reduced size of this preprocessed data enables efficient storage, effective processing and time bound investigation.","PeriodicalId":197580,"journal":{"name":"International Conference & Workshop on Emerging Trends in Technology","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115396961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In these multimedia applications, video and audio are stored, transmitted, and presented. During presentation time, the temporal relationships between audio and video have to be preserved in order to offer the best perceptual quality. The proposed method is aimed at achieving a good audio video synchronization and compression in which audio data will be embedded into video data at the encoder and then audio and video will be compressed simultaneously. This method will not require a separate channel to send audio hence will reduce the amount of data to be sent. At the decoder the audio information can be extracted from video data and both can be reconstructed without noticeable distortion.","PeriodicalId":197580,"journal":{"name":"International Conference & Workshop on Emerging Trends in Technology","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121831085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to reduce the load forecasting error, the concept of fuzzy regression analysis is employed to load forecasting problem. The difference between regressed forecasting results and actual results is analyzed using fuzzy concept. Error correction was then applied based on fuzzy sense of error involved in prediction. Forecasted results need expert inference for which fuzzy proves to be beneficial. Results analyzed clearly support the viewpoint. The fuzzy linear regression model is made from the load data of the previous years and the coefficients of the model are found by solving the mixed linear programming problem. The fuzzy correction in predicted results improved the error from 1 to 3 %.","PeriodicalId":197580,"journal":{"name":"International Conference & Workshop on Emerging Trends in Technology","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116652129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a new method of representing documents based on clustering of term frequency vectors. For each class of documents we propose to create multiple clusters to preserve the intraclass variations. Term frequency vectors of each cluster are used to form a symbolic representation by the use of interval valued features. Subsequently, a new feature selection method based on a new dissimilarity measure is also presented. The new feature selection method reduces the features in the representation phase for effective text classification. It keeps the best features for effective representation and simultaneously reduces the time taken to classify a given document. To corroborate the efficacy of the proposed model we conducted experimentation on various datasets. Experimental results reveal that the proposed method gives better results when compared to the state of the art techniques. In addition, as the method is based on a simple matching scheme, it requires a negligible time.","PeriodicalId":197580,"journal":{"name":"International Conference & Workshop on Emerging Trends in Technology","volume":"81 8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126103729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the world is getting more globalize and revolutionize there is a need for further improvisation and technical evolution. We are very familiar with Bluetooth technology, which has changed the way of data transmission in the last half decade, but due to the disadvantages such as time and range factor which matters a lot in today's fast world Bluetooth is not enough. Thus Bluetooth will be replaced by a new and much more powerful wireless technology in the near future known as Zigbee. Zigbee is a low power, low cost, low complexity wireless standard technology starting to take off in the market. Recently it arrived in the 2.4 GHz band, joining the well established Bluetooth. Likely applications of technology are based around monitoring and control in smart homes and in industrial automation.","PeriodicalId":197580,"journal":{"name":"International Conference & Workshop on Emerging Trends in Technology","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126612779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the literature survey of the doctoral research the focus was on two computing paradigms: Grid computing and Distributed Shared Memory. There has been extensive research in individual implementations of both DSM and Grids but very few combined implementations. Hence in this paper there is focus on implementing and testing SMIG (Shared Memory Integrated with Grid) a model which integrates both paradigms. The paper discusses the design principles and architecture of SMIG, followed by explanation of the installation and execution process. Next the graphs are plotted and results are analyzed for SMIG execution for various applications like Matrix multiplication, Merge sort and Bucket sort. Based on the analysis it was inferred that SMIG model is feasible, can exploit existing underutilized resources and assist in resource optimization or carrying out high end computations. In future it is proposed to execute the same applications in a JUMP DSM environment and compare it with SMIG results.","PeriodicalId":197580,"journal":{"name":"International Conference & Workshop on Emerging Trends in Technology","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126635641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It isn't a matter of new features or \"killer applications,\" although those may come with time. Rather, it is the rapid depletion of the remaining IPv4 addresses that is leaving IPv6 as the only feasible alternative for the continued growth of networks beyond the next few years. Governments and service providers in many regions of the world have been cognizant of this fact for a long time, and are currently in various stages of planning for IPv6 deployment in their networks. The IPv6 was developed to replace and improve the existing Internet Protocol (IP), the IPv4 in many ways. Among the improved areas are addressing space, routing efficiency, header format, auto-configuration, Quality-of-Service (QoS), security and mobility. This paper investigates the IPv6 deployment issues' in India and provides potential solution for the same.","PeriodicalId":197580,"journal":{"name":"International Conference & Workshop on Emerging Trends in Technology","volume":"122 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115548193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
