Operating systems for IoT devices play a vital role in this regard. These low-end devices can not use traditional operating system (OS) such as Windows or Linux due to stringent resource constraints. A lot of efforts have been made to design operating systems for these concerned devices. The main contribution of the paper is the comparative study of the most recent operating systems for low-end IoT devices. The comparison will focus on the major OS keys as architecture, scheduling, real-time capabilities, programming model, memory footprint, network connectivity, hardware support and energy efficiency. We highlight these OS keys values at the selected OSs: FreeRTOS, Mbed, Contiki, TinyOS and RIOT.","PeriodicalId":197301,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/ACS 14th International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications (AICCSA)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126741862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These structures are used as a guideline to understand the Cloud component, services, actors and interactions. However, few Cloud Computing architectures are proposed and used as references to build a Cloud infrastructure. Most of these models does not treat and burst security layers despite the fact that it presents the most important concerns in the Cloud.The aim of this paper is to propose a new end-to-end reference architecture based on a novel classification of security issues in Cloud Computing environment. To do so, we are going to explore the fundamental concepts of Cloud. We will study and propose a novel actor-based classification of security issues. We will model a Cloud reference architecture from security perspective and we will study in depth security and defense in the Cloud provider tier. The idea of a semantic web is a web which comprises of data with well-defined meaning. It is also a web that is context-aware in nature, whereby web documents are easily understandable and able to be processed by machines based on the underlying meaning provided for the documents by making use of annotation data (i.e. metadata). While several concepts have been proposed to drive the semantic web, none has so far demonstrated potentials to transform the current Web 2.0 to a truly semantic Web 3.0. With the advent of diverse technological innovations such as internet of things, cloud computing, big data analytics, etc. it is pertinent to review the state-of-the-art for semantic annotation and how it can be impacted by any of these technologies. This paper provides a review of semantic annotation state-of-the-art and how cloud computing as a paradigm can impact on it.","PeriodicalId":197301,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/ACS 14th International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications (AICCSA)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121693552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fingerprints are characterized by large intra-class variations (i.e. variability in different impressions from the same finger). This variability manifests itself by the missing or the displacement of genuine minutiae and the detection of spurious minutiae. Displaced, missing and spurious minutiae make fingerprint matching a very challenging pattern recognition problem.Although significant improvements have been made in minutiae-based matching, most of minutiae matching algorithms lack of robustness with respect to displaced, missing and spurious minutiae [4]. This paper introduces EDT-C, a new fingerprint matcher based on minutiae triplets. The proposed matcher uses an extended form of Delaunay Triangulation that allows to take into account, not only genuine minutiae, but also spurious, displaced and missing ones. EDT-C characterizes minutiae triplets by a set of innovative geometric features that help in tolerating linear and non-linear distortions. Finally, EDT-C includes some optimizations that allows to quickly consolidate local matchings and filter non-matching minutia triplets. Experiments show that EDT-C has a reasonable computational cost and is far more accurate than its main competitors.","PeriodicalId":197301,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/ACS 14th International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications (AICCSA)","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121517940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different feature extraction techniques have been applied in the field of detection intrusions; the most common one is Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Nevertheless, PCA is restricted to linear principal components and suffers from sensitivity to noise and can be easily affected by outliers. To deal with the drawbacks of PCA many data dimensionality reduction methods have been proposed, among them we found Robust Fuzzy PCA (RFPCA) which employs fuzzy memberships in order to reduce the effect of outliers. Unfortunately, even though RFPCA showed satisfactory results, it still suffers from the influence of outliers. In fact, using an increasing function such as exponential function in the estimation of memberships will assign a big membership values to outliers, consequently, the obtained results can be skewed. In this paper, we suggest a new variant of Robust Fuzzy PCA (RFPCA) method for the purpose of network IDS. Extensive experiments on the two well known datasets i.e. KDDcup99 and NSL-KDD demonstrated that the proposed approach takes the advantage over RFPCA and PCA in terms of network attacks detection and false alarms reduction.","PeriodicalId":197301,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/ACS 14th International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications (AICCSA)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123261604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cloud computing is now one of the most pervasive usage paradigms and due its novelty, research surrounding its resilience is largely lacking and often varied in terms of developed solutions. Therefore this paper provides an up-to-date review of resilience work in cloud computing. This includes methods of measuring and evaluating resilience, solutions for enabling resilience and alternative architectures developed with a focus upon ensuring resilience from the ground up. Firstly, resilience is defined within the context of cloud computing in order to categorise the work appropriately.","PeriodicalId":197301,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/ACS 14th International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications (AICCSA)","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131468241","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Identification accuracy degrades considerably when LID systems face open-set languages. As compared to in-set identification task, the open-set task is adequate to mimic the real challenge of language identification. In this paper, we propose an approach to the problem of out-of-set (OOS) data detection in the context of open-set language identification with zero-knowledge for OOS languages. The main feature of this study is the emphasis on the in-set (target) language identification, on the one hand, and on OOS language detection, on the other hand. Accordingly, we propose a deep SVM based LID back-end system to improve the target languages identification. Along with that, we define three OOS thresholding formulations. These formulations are used to decide whether the speech segment is a target or OOS language. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the deep SVM back-end system as compared to state-of-the-art techniques. Besides that, the thresholding functions perfectly detect and reject the OOS data. A relative decrease of 6% in Equal Error Rate (EER) is reported over classical OOS detection methods, in discriminating target and OOS languages.","PeriodicalId":197301,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/ACS 14th International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications (AICCSA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131329232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different from the traditional wireless mobile network, WMN is based on multi-hop structure. The mesh routers (MRs) act as access points for the mesh clients and connect via multi-hops to Internet gateways (IGs) by directing all their Internet traffic to these gateways. We aim to determine the optimum location of gateways, by minimizing the variance of MR-IG hop count and the number of deployed gateways. Characters are writing in a 3D air space by a user via a wearable smart phone device. The main insight behind the use of a symbolic representation is to tackle storage and time processing challenge required in such application with mobile device. That is, we introduce a similarity distance measure that combines the Symbolic Aggregate approXimation (SAX) distance with angular trend distance. The proposed similarity distance measure requires additional information about the trend of the Time Series Data (TSD) and will be used in classification with the nearest neighbor rule. In addition, we extend the distance measure to handle multidimensional data and the classification is achieved using a greedy time warping algorithm. This algorithm internally uses a dynamic programming that overcomes the quadratic time complexity of the classical dynamic time warping search. Experiments on a real database of the 26 lowercase letters in the English alphabet show that our method improves the original and two variation of the SAX similarity search algorithm.","PeriodicalId":197301,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/ACS 14th International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications (AICCSA)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133875207","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Obviously, users can now rate items, comment and suggest them to friends through social networks. Therefore, these users behaviors must be integrated to predict her preferences. However, most of the works proposed in the literature integrate only users ratings in recommendation process and ignore other behaviors made by users while/after seeing an item. In this paper, we propose a new approach that integrates in a generic way all the user behaviors in order to predict her interests. We conduct a comprehensive effectiveness evaluation on real dataset crawled from Pinhole platform. We consider several social behaviors such as comment, time spent, recommendations and shares.
