The hormonal changes that occur during this period may lead to some oral changes, making pregnant patient need a greater help and management from dentists. Numerous illustrious organizations emphasize that because pregnancy is not an illness, pregnant women shouldn't be treated any differently than the general population. Many dentists are still hesitant to treat pregnant patients despite these facts.\u0000Objective: The goal of this study is to discover about the way dentists in Kurdistan, Iraq, feel and behave when it comes to providing oral healthcare during pregnancy; a topic which is not studied before.\u0000Method: This research is conducted through an online survey form.\u0000Results: (96.5%) of the participants treat pregnant patients. Only (61.6%) find their knowledge as totally satisfactory in managing pregnant ladies. (33.7%) believe there is sufficient evidence to prohibit dental care during pregnancy. (73.3%) agree with the statement of ‘local anesthetics are safe during pregnancy’. (50%) of the respondents refuse to take an x-ray needed for diagnosis.\u0000Conclusion: Despite its safety, still, a significant portion of dentists still have fear and reluctance in dealing with pregnant ladies. The causes of this hesitation could be lack of knowledge, misconception among dentists regarding the safety of dental treatment during pregnancy and fear of dentists from the wrong beliefs of the population and its social and legal consequences.

Any deliberate action or attempt of maltreatment to a person younger than 18 years old is considered child abuse. Recognizing the dentist's critical role in identifying children who have been the victims of domestic abuse it is required to recognize and report perioral indications of child abuse. In accordance with rase of domestic violence and child abuse incidence, dentists are now required to become familiar with the perioral warning signs of child abuse and to report any suspected cases to the relevant authorities in accordance with state legislation. Almost 0.5 to 1.5 liters of salivary secretion occurs in 24 hours. The salivary gland is under autonomic control but various other factors influence the rate and quality of the secretions. The mechanism of secretion of saliva involves a number of pumps and carrier proteins present in the acinar and ductal region of the gland that forms primary secretions which undergoes changes as it moves through the ducts and converts into secondary secretions. These salivary secretions have an important digestive, protective, anti-microbial, buffering function that protects teeth from dental caries.

This type of edentulous is more frequently encountered in the maxilla than in the mandible. It is opposed to a natural dentition, that can be the origin of aesthetic, occlusal and biological problems affecting the integration of the future prosthesis. Achieving harmonious occlusal plane and obtaining occlusal balance and aesthetic satisfaction of the patient are the principal objectives of the treatment. The practitioner must perform a reasoned analysis of the clinical case, detect the existing difficulties, and establish a strategy of adapted treatment. We performed an updated review of reports on protocols for managing acquired oral syphilis (AOS) and offer recommendations with an emphasis on clinical features. We also add two new cases from our own files. Our analyses of global reports revealed that males are significantly more often affected than females, and their mean age is higher. Young adults are most affected, with a peak in the third and fourth decades of life. Ulcers and mucous patches as manifestations of AOS are the most prevalent clinical features in the oral mucosa. Mucous patches are significantly more prevalent in females as compared to males and tend to present as multiple rather than isolated lesions, while ulcers frequently appear as a sole lesion. The tongue, lip, and palate are the most affected anatomical sites. New oral lesions in the context of unprotected sexual intercourse warrant serological testing for syphilis.\u0000

Therefore, the need for prosthetic rehabilitation is only a matter of time. The aim of this systematic review is to assess and summarize the available literature regarding the outcome of dental implants in patients with Down Syndrome.\u0000\u0000\u0000Materials and Methods: An electronic search was performed in Pubmed-Medline, Lilacs, and Cochrane Library. Search terms used were: “dental implant” OR “implant rehabilitation” AND “down syndrome”. Articles reporting the placement of implants in patients with down syndrome up until 2022 were included. \u0000\u0000\u0000Results: A total of 15 studies (10 case reports, 4 retrospective studies and 1 prospective study) comprising 234 implants placed in 61 patients were included. Implant failure occurred for 45 implants, leading to a survival rate of 80.7%. 12 studies out of 15 reported their results after a follow up period of 6 months to 4 years. \u0000\u0000\u0000Conclusion: The limited body of evidence suggests a survival rate of implants in Down Syndrome patients that is lower than among the general population. While several risk factors could explain these failures, there is still much to be answered regarding the mechanisms leading to implant rejection.
