Based on a hierarchical chromosome structure, it is demonstrated that suitable pinned nodes can be selected with appropriate control gains, resulting in a better synchrony capability of the entire network. The improvement of adhesion characteristics is, thus, very important for electric trains. Previously, we have proposed an anti-slip/skid re-adhesion control system based on a disturbance observer, with a high adhesion force utilization ratio. In the present work, we focus on the deceleration mode. Generally, a train has an electric regenerative brake (electric brake) and a mechanical brake (air brake). Under wet railway track conditions, the regenerative brake may fall into abeyance caused by the mechanical brake response. This paper considers a blended braking control and proposes a regenerative brake priority control. Since in this specific application operating conditions may be far from resonance, this paper is focused on extending the model to several harmonics and verifying its validity range. The main goal is to obtain accurate control-to-power transfer functions which predict the resonant inverter small-signal behaviour. A simulation test bench is proposed and evaluated for measuring the open-loop duty cycle and frequency-to-power transfer function plots from time domain simulations of the switching model. Some regulations for Low Voltage Ride-Through (LVRT) for medium voltage or high voltage applications, are coming into force to guide these grid-connected distributed power generation systems. In order to verify the response of such systems for voltage disturbance, mainly for evaluation of voltage sags/dips, a Voltage Sag Generator (VSG) is needed. This paper evaluates such sag test devices according to IEC 61000 in order to provide cheaper solutions to test against voltage sags. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the shunt impedance based VSG solution is the easiest and cheapest one for laboratory test applications. The later was introduced in previous papers, it results from a topological optimization of a series connection of two three level PUC and NPC converters. The PUC-NPC topology is characterized by the use of only six power switches per phase in the case of five level converter. Modeling of the proposed PUC-NPC rectifier and a novel current control associated to a novel balancing technique are performed in order to draw a nearly sinusoidal lines currents and line-to-line voltages with a unity power factor operation. The balanced DC link and auxiliary output voltages insure the protection of loads, passives and actives power devices. There have been many approaches to the rainflow algorithm, some proposing modifications. Graphical Rainflow Method (GRM) was proposed recently with a claim of faster execution times [10]. However, the steps of the graphical method of rainflow algorithm, when implemented, do not generate the same output as the four-point or ASTM standard algorithm. A modified graphical method is presented and discussed in this paper to overcome the shortcomings of graphical rainflow algorithm. A fast rainflow algorithm based on four-point algorithm but considering point comparison than range comparison is also presented. A comparison between the performances of the common rainflow algorithms [6-10], including the proposed methods, in terms of execution time, memory used, and efficiency, complexity, and load sequences is presented. Finally, the rainflow algorithm is applied to temperature data of an IGBT in assessing the lifetime of a STATCOM operating for power factor correction of the load. The fault detection methodology proposed is based on digital signal processing techniques applied to the available SEIG electrical signals. In order to get the enough data to perform the analysis, the dynamic model of SEIG was simulated in Matlab/Simulink ® platform. The simulated models describe the machine behavior under healthy and several faulty conditions. The main characteristics of the signals were obtained by means of the Continuous Wavelet Transform and the Global Wavelet Spectrum applied on the stator voltages of the generator. A particular pattern, for each operating condition, was observed and quantified. As a result, the new reactors whose electromagnetic-coupling coefficient is 0.60 reduces ripple current both on each phase and on the total combined when those operate with differential coupling and shift-phase switching. The loss from ripple current is reduced to 31% when the chopper operates with above mentioned condition. This laboratory model emulates the performance of commonly encountered flicker generating loads in distribution network such as electric arc resistance welder, wood saw machine, stone crushing machine etc. The modulation amplitude and flicker frequencies values can be assigned by changing the values of passive component such as resistances and inductances of the main load as time varying impedance is the deciding parameter in representing the type of the flicker load. The analogue as well as digital control implementation is presented to emulate the flicker load characteristics. In generalized flicker load algorithm using DSP gives flexibility for different flicker loads emulations from the selectable passive elements.
