It can enhance the therapy, providing a new social channel of interaction in a friendly and controlled environment. This paper proposes an integral technological platform based on two main elements. The first one is a robot, specifically designed to collaborate in the intervention process eliciting pro-social behavior, and a tablet application program, explicitly intended to complement the intervention activities with the robot, giving at the same time administration support to the therapist offering information about the statistical performance of the child during the intervention. On the other hand, fuzzy logic systems are implemented in the technological platform to increase the performance in the robot and the tablet. Fuzzy logic includes an inference system based on linguistic rules that help therapist to interact with the children when they are taking the integral therapy because the inference system can cover different social situations in automatic way. This paper shows the complete design of the robot and tablet application as the main supported tools. The social skill therapy is designed and implemented to different children with autism. Moreover, fuzzy logic demonstrated that is a robust system for dealing with uncertainties so that the robot can generate a correct response according with the input signal from the child. Finally, the preliminary results give a good insight about the potential of this proposed integral therapy. In addition, fuzzy logic is a principal component for designing the therapy.","PeriodicalId":194566,"journal":{"name":"2017 Sixteenth Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (MICAI)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122999608","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work we present a multipurpose image segmentation algorithm based on SLIC-Superpixels and Gauss-Markov Measure Fields (GMMF). In the literature, both methods have shown their advantages in execution time and accuracy; however, GMMF can often blur or distort the edges of the objects in the scene, whereas SLIC is not designed for the segmentation of large, non-connected regions. This encourages combining them for a better segmentation method that is very robust to edges delocalization and has multiple applications. The proposed algorithm is able to deal with multi-channel images, different types of noise, and can be easily extended to 3D images. An experimental evaluation of the proposed method was performed using both synthetic images (with different types and levels of noise) as well as Magnetic Resonance Images for the detection of Multiple Sclerosis lesions. Preliminary results have shown robustness to noise, edge preservation and high performance for both types of applications.","PeriodicalId":194566,"journal":{"name":"2017 Sixteenth Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (MICAI)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114387842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we discuss applications of the unbiased finite impulse response (UFIR) estimation approach to denoise the ECG measurements and extract useful features from. One of the standard methods providing denoising and extracting features of the ECG signals is based on the one-step prediction. We show that better accuracy can be obtained by using the UFIR filter and the UFIR smoothing filter with adaptive averaging horizon length. To study the trade-off between the predictive, filtering, and smoothing UFIR filtering algorithms, we employ the ECG data related to normal heart beating.","PeriodicalId":194566,"journal":{"name":"2017 Sixteenth Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (MICAI)","volume":"156 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131327834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although, in recent years this kind of algorithms have had a great progress, one can remember that it is a still open problem, because the solution is imposed by the human interaction that defines the destiny and the objective of the task to be carried out by the robot. Following this idea, this research project proposes a new method of deterministic exploration based on the construction of a graph as a data structure, and on the systematic exploitation of the knowledge acquired by the robot while navigating the environment.","PeriodicalId":194566,"journal":{"name":"2017 Sixteenth Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (MICAI)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129513476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work proposes a mapping approach for Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) based on the Simulated Annealing optimization technique to find an alternative solution to the problem. The utilization of Artificial Intelligence in Technology Mapping is promising because it strongly differs from existing algorithms due to the randomness factors in AI-based techniques. The developed approach acts on the mapping stage called coverage, aiming to minimize the number of K-cuts needed to map the complete logic of the circuit from the inputs to the outputs. Tests were performed in 85 benchmarks of the ISCAS85 and MCNC91 packages, widely known in the area and commonly used for performance testing of new approaches. The tests conducted found solutions comparable in several cases to the ABC tool, considered state-of-the-art in the Technology Mapping process, and even superior in some benchmarks, achieving improvements over ABC's results in approximately 19% of the evaluated benchmarks with K = 4 and 26% with K = 5.","PeriodicalId":194566,"journal":{"name":"2017 Sixteenth Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (MICAI)","volume":"82 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121923824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can be treated, if detected, in its first stages. This is not an easy task because the patients with DR do not perceive any symptoms until the visual loss develops in advanced stages when the treatment is less efficient. Hard exudates are the most common lesions in the early stages. In this work, we developed an automatic method for hard exudates detection in Diabetic Retinopathy images with an acceptable level of confidence that can help specialists in the diagnosis and screening of this disease. We also propose an exhaustive study of feature selection first by individual analysis and then by combining several features. This strategy is efficient, comparable and competitive with results of methods of the state of the art.","PeriodicalId":194566,"journal":{"name":"2017 Sixteenth Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (MICAI)","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124884187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this article, we present a novel approach to model a persistent graph. Our methodology for modeling is based on the ER (Entity Relationship Model). In which we introduce a set of elements to modeling a graph, such as a cardinality on the edges, type of edges, inbound/outbound edges, edges' attributes and vertex class. Our methodology for modeling serves as a specification to which the graph design must conform. Our methodology allows the designer to express models at various levels of abstraction of a graph and ensure the correctness of the logical model with respect to the conceptual model. Our Methodology enables the designer to reason about the correctness of the business logic implemented in a graph.","PeriodicalId":194566,"journal":{"name":"2017 Sixteenth Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (MICAI)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128788124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
