E-Business Application in higher education has already become an indispensable tool in both university staff and students' daily life. A number of technological, educational and business models of e-Business application in higher education have been developed. However, the educational models of e-Business application in higher education mostly focus on blended learning, thereby they lack the blended educational process that comprises blended teaching, peer-learning and learning. These one-sided educational models do not contribute to the qualitative blended educational process for the improvement of students' learning achievements. Aim of the present paper is to work out the educational model of e-Business application in higher education underpinning analysis of quality of the institutionalized blended educational process for the improvement of students' learning achievements. The meaning of the key concepts e-Business application and blended learning is studied. Moreover, the logical chain of analysis is shown: e-Business → blended learning → a model of the blended educational process → empirical study within a multicultural environment. The results of the present research show that students' learning achievements after having been implemented the blended educational process have been enhanced. Directions of further research are proposed.","PeriodicalId":194465,"journal":{"name":"DCNET/ICE-B/OPTICS","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122302672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

RestContext solves this problem with a service logically separating context as a set of information that can characterize a situation from further context interpretation mechanisms. RestContext is a resource oriented architecture which manages sensors of different types. A context may consist of sub-contexts as well as sensors that are linked to one or many contexts. With the help of RestContext it is possible to create topologies of contexts. Sensors can interact with context instances by push and pull mechanisms. We demonstrate how RestContext can be used in a distributed weather forecasting example.","PeriodicalId":194465,"journal":{"name":"DCNET/ICE-B/OPTICS","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116288068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, citizens are aware of this historic change that is taking place and they are the bearers of a new demand in terms of: access to official, customized and “on demand” information and services, new opportunities for direct and informal relationships with politicians and civil servants, acquiring a proactive role within the network. This paper assesses the web strategies of Italian municipalities to measure their “citizen empowerment” effectiveness. The study was performed by adopting a revised version of the Citizens Web Empowerment Index (CWEI) designed to benchmark administrations' official web portals. The analysis was made on the web portals of the 104 Italian cities with over 60,000 inhabitants in 2012 and 2013. Results show that there is still a general lack of strategy to strengthen citizens' level of empowerment and participation through official web portals.","PeriodicalId":194465,"journal":{"name":"DCNET/ICE-B/OPTICS","volume":"282 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116612282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper gives an overview of our recent work on implementing a new interactive CTL model checker. In contrast to previous approaches, our tool permits an interactive design of the CTL models as state-transition graphs, and is based on client/server architecture. The server part embeds the core of the CTL model checker and is published as a Web service. A C# client provides an intuitive graphical interface for interactive design of CTL models. Java and C# APIs are available for programmatic construction of large models. Experimental results are encouraging, showing that our tool is able to handle large systems efficiently.","PeriodicalId":194465,"journal":{"name":"DCNET/ICE-B/OPTICS","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125965943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Related costs directly affect the fares and thus the attractiveness of local public transport. We discuss a concept to implement a Report-service to forward emergency and complaint messages in local public transport. The service is based on a mobile application and a message routing system. The aim is to increase travel safety and the attractiveness of the local public transport. On the base of theoretical approaches and the usage of paper prototypes we show the possibilities how such a Report-service could be implemented.","PeriodicalId":194465,"journal":{"name":"DCNET/ICE-B/OPTICS","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125505332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over the past two decades, ICT and the Internet have dramatically changed individuals' behaviours, including their approach to donation. New expectations arose on the possibility of “online” fundraising activities and not only computers are determining this change but also the potential of (smart) phones must be acknowledged. Mobile fundraising projects have been implemented both at global and local level to support various causes such as: natural disasters, poverty, diseases (cancer, HIV, sclerosis), wildlife, human rights. This is a positioning paper whose objectives are the following: (a) to define the mobile technological scenarios and their trends of diffusion for fundraising by identifying some best practices at an international level; (b) to assess the mobile fundraising initiatives in the Italian non profit sector.","PeriodicalId":194465,"journal":{"name":"DCNET/ICE-B/OPTICS","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121514579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The visibility is measured using company's involvement in electronic interactions with customers that is externalized by the integration of the Social Software (SoS) in its other means of online presence. This approach allows evaluating company's adaptation to the challenges of the social web and scaling the evaluation to industry or country level. The evaluation of the maturity can be completed based on external presentation, i.e., the website, of the company allowing an efficient evaluation process. The suggested maturity model for assessing e-visibility is based on related work in the area of maturity assessment in e-business. Its application is illustrated in a case where the e-VM for specific countries across industries is assessed, based on a sample of 1600 enterprises from four countries.","PeriodicalId":194465,"journal":{"name":"DCNET/ICE-B/OPTICS","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125533738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
