The purpose of this paper is to present the past and modernity of the most important seaports of Georgia - Batumi and Poti - and determine their role and place in the economy of the country and in the unified transport system. As the development of Georgia's port potential is closely linked to the country's socio-economic development, its efficient use of geographical location, and the successful functioning of the Eurasian Transport Corridor in general. The history of the creation of Georgia's seaports is practically the history of the formation of the Caucasus Logistics Center, which defined Georgia's role as a transit country. Georgia is an important link of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia Corridor, it is the Transcaucasian maritime gateway. The ports of Batumi, Poti, Kulevi, Supsa and under construction seaport Anaklia are vital strategic facilities that will ensure the country's economic progress. Among its past and contemporaries, the ports of Batumi and Poti are important, as they are distinguished by a number of advantages from the Black Sea ports (water depth, less danger of storms and heat, etc.). In the recent past, they have played an active role not only in the maritime shipping of Georgia and the former Soviet Union, but also in the development of maritime trade and economic ties worldwide. The western part of Georgia has historically been associated with the sea and sea navigation, the myth of the Argonauts, the existence of Greek newborns indicates that maritime navigation in ancient Colchis was one of the major means of leaving the world. Georgia, as a maritime country, was and is a country of great economic potential, to prove this; we will bring some details from its history.","PeriodicalId":193848,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on New Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115133314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, in our current time several factors make the English language as an essential component for communication, thus the importance of learning foreign language enables to communicate easily with our global citizens. As usually, use English is a common language to communicate and everyone needs to learn the language in order to get in touch on an international level. Speaking it will help you communicate with people from countries all over the world, not just English-speaking ones. English is essential to the field of education. It is also accepted as common working language of the maritime world and being competent in its use is essential to the safety of ships, their crews and the marine environment. The necessity for the establishment of ME (maritime English) proficiency standard is mandatory used by all maritime based professionals and become an important tool to ensure safety at sea, on shore or in ports. In the Maritime industry being able to communicate effectively in English and preventing intercultural misunderstanding can be a matter of life and death. Maritime communication programs help professionals in the maritime industry communication better in English and cross cultures. Communication at sea is the essential part for the effective and safe running of the ship. It takes place within the ship herself, between the ship and shore station, between the ship and other ships and sometimes between the ship and aircraft. It is needed to be sure that the speech communications are as precise, simple and unambiguous as possible and that language confusions and errors are avoided that are often at the root of accident and other circumstances. According to the STCW 1978/95, future deck and engineer officers have to render a welldeveloped command of this specialized language, otherwise they will not be granted a certificate of competence. The legislation nowadays emphasizes the importance of the English language proficiency in relation to safety at sea. Learning courses which has developed business English course for the shipping industry and other maritime sectors, help professionals with different nationalities and cultural backgrounds communicate effectively and with ease. This is imminent for safety reasons, but it also supports companies that employ people from all over the world maintain main quality standards in a very dynamic and competitive environment.","PeriodicalId":193848,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on New Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131330004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For some of them, that wasn’t just something that was done because they wanted to be famous or important in the eyes of the world, but they wanted to inform everyone on what really happened during that dark period of Albania’s history. On the other hand this was also a way to confront themselves with their sad past as a need they had to survive again in the new reality after the communism collapsed. Religion was severely attacked during Albanian communism. In 1967 Albanian communist regime proclaimed Albania as an “atheist state” and everyone who was part of religious institutions had only two choices: that person either had to abandon his faith and in as lot of cases he had to do this disconnection with his religion in public, as an propagandistic way to make the others, either his colleagues or the believers, to follow his example and this was somehow the “easy” way; or he could choose to face the situation, to not accept to do this forced choice and this would mean only one thing: the beginning of living a hell on earth until their last breath. This choice would mean imprisonment, physical and psychological tortures beyond imagination and total deprivation from the basic human rights. Living in those extreme conditions gives us the “perfect” example of the literal meaning of the word “survival” Father Zef Pllumi, is one of the few priests who managed to stay alive for about three decades in different prisons around Albania. He was convicted as a political prisoner with the only “fault” that he was a priest and that he didn’t admitted to abandon his devotion to God. After spending more than a quarter of a century in Albanian communist prisons he was released in 1990, at the time when the regime was falling apart. In 1995 was published the first part of his trilogy “Live only to tell”, by Father Zef Pllumi, which was one of the few survivors of the communist prisons and one of the most important intellectuals who brought maybe the most complete data that Albanian history has in the respect of communist period. This type of history we are talking about is not an academic history, it is the narration of a personal story, it is the story of Father Zef Pllumi itself and at the same time it is the story of all those people who refused to submit their freedom of thinking and being different to the regime. This book is a personal testimony as well as a collective testimony of the people who were imprisoned, also it is the story of all the other Albanians who maybe were not in an penitentiary institution called prison but, in fact, they were also deprived from a lot of basic rights ","PeriodicalId":193848,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on New Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132296445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This review attempts to use a multi-disciplinary approach in order to challenge the validity of most criticisms and to elucidate the importance of this film as a work of art focused on the problems of aging. The discussion stresses the binary structure of the plot and the film’s intensive use of dichotomies, such as memory/amnesia, speech/silence, ambition/apathy, divine beauty/grotesque ugliness, and especially youth/old age. The paper also brings into high relief the prevalent melancholic atmosphere of this film, which conveys through a long series of related metaphors, associations and sounds, the general impression of a cinematic elegy (or threnody). Other topics discussed include the deep influence of classical tradition on Sorrentino’s methodology, patterns of nonverbal communication and the artistic manipulation of nudity. Far from being an “emotionally paralyzed” and “simplistic” film (as many critics have asserted), in my view Youth is a sophisticated, subtle and profoundly humane depiction of old age, particularly as far as artists are concerned. It is typical of Sorrentino’s preoccupation with aging, as reflected by some of his other films as well, e.g. The Great Beauty and the more recent Loro.","PeriodicalId":193848,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on New Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124726372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In 2018, a mandatory funded pension model was introduced in Georgia and today, Georgian pension system has three pillars. In Georgia, a voluntary funded pension system was established 20 years ago, but received little attention from public and business, one of the reasons of which is lack of stimulating regulations. Pension replacement rate from the first pillar is just under 18% - much lower than in any of the OECD member states. The fact that the amount of pension does not depend on the length of employment, decreases trust in the system. Since 2018, the funded pension system became mandatory for employees under age of 40, for older employees, it is voluntary, but the reform does not apply to today’s pensioners and those who will be retiring in few years’ time, because they will not have enough time to accumulate sufficient amount for adequate pension levels in retirement. If the society will not have trust in all three pillars of the pension system, chances of reversing the last year’s pension reform will rise, due to several reasons:","PeriodicalId":193848,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on New Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134305383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, Turkey, in the front line with such practices, has recently turned into a dangerous country, where the rule of law, civil liberties and democratic governance are in sharp decline (WJP, 2018; The EIU, 2018). As confirmed by many international chronicles, reports and indexes, Turkey has now become more and more barren for democracy in general and journalism in particular. On the RSF Press Freedom Index 2018, Turkey is ranked 157th of 180 countries. In the last few years, more than 100 media outlets have been closed and 151 journalists and media workers have been put behind bars (TGS, 26 January 2018), while over 1000 journalists have been dismissed. In these circumstances, safety has become the primary problem in Turkey. According to “Freedom of the press 2017” report by the Freedom house, the sources of the threats are listed as: “heads of state: launching verbal attacks and lawsuits; trolls: abusing and threatening online; security forces: harassing, arresting and beating; violent groups: threatening attacks and death; judges: delivering draconian sentences; media owners: controlling the editorial line and job security”. In this study, we will first describe and second make an in-depth analysis of these threats in Turkey to present a more thorough understanding of the issues (e.g. freedom of thought, right to information, freedom of speech, and freedom of the press) at stake in the Turkish mediascape (Appadurai, 1990). The data will be gathered from the reports of Journalists’ Union of Turkey (TGS), Progressive Journalists’ Association (ÇGD), Bianet and several others. The time period of the study is limited to two years starting from the State of Emergency declared after the failed coup attempt of July 15, 2016 to the general elections of June 24, 2018. In the end, we will offer some safety strategies and tactics for the journalists living and working in dangerous zones like Turkey to discuss further.","PeriodicalId":193848,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on New Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134450583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
