An IRS equipped with lots of reflecting elements is deployed to assist the secure communication. By considering the scenario where the eavesdropper’s instantaneous channel state information (CSI) is not perfectly known, a robust secure communication design is proposed which aims to maximize the secrecy rate by jointly optimizing the transmit beamforming and the IRS reflecting coefficients while satisfying the sensing constraints. A bounded uncertainty model is adopted to capture the angle error and fading channel error of the eavesdropper, and a tractable bound for their joint uncertainty is derived via some mathematical manipulations. Moreover, a block coordinate descent-based algorithm is utilized to tackle the formulated non-convex problem. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve secure communication effectively even with the eavesdropper’s imperfect CSI.","PeriodicalId":191968,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129579280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, due to the high dynamics of wireless networks, it is challenging to balance the cost and the computation efficiency. To satisfy extreme user experience requirements of intelligent-enabled applications, a communication and computation adaptive scheme is studied in this paper to achieve high efficiency with low costs. First, an adaptive split learning paradigm is designed to support flexible management of model splitting and computation resources, which can balance communication and computation in dynamic wireless circumstances. Second, a deep R-learning network based algorithm is proposed to make the instantaneous decision for the long-term average cost minimization, by accounting for the undis-counted average cost and the curse of dimensionality. Finally, the simulation results are provided to show the performance gains of our proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":191968,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129775075","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing researches on computation offloading in MEC mainly focused on the hardware resource constraint (e.g., CPU and storage) at the edge nodes, without considering the specific software service requirements of applications (e.g., runtime environment and operating system). In this work, we study the computation offloading for delay-sensitive applications under both constraints of hardware resources and software services, where each application can be offloaded to an edge node only if both the required hardware resources and software services have been deployed at that node. We formulate a Joint Service Placement and Computation Offloading (JSPCO) problem, aiming at minimizing the offloading delay cost and the service operation cost. The problem is challenging due to the inherent coupling between service placement and computation offloading. To solve the problem, we introduce several equivalent transformation methods that convert the original problem into a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) problem, which can be solved efficiently using classic algorithms. Simulation results show that our proposed joint optimization solution can reduce the total system cost, service operation cost, and UE delay cost by up to 63.06%, 62.90%, and 54.76%, respectively, compared to existing baseline solutions.","PeriodicalId":191968,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129267957","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The predominate approaches are to find multiple angles of arrival (AoAs) based on the array received signals and then retrace the source by triangulation method. The performance of these solutions is bounded by the size of array and they are rarely used to locate 3D sound sources with only a small-size microphone array. In this paper, we propose an ISSL system, named MicEye, a small-size microphone based solution that utilizes several time difference of arrival (TDOA) for the multipath signals to achieve sound source localization in 3D. By combining the cross correlation spectra of the array signals and sound propagation geometry, the proposed MicEye can efficiently generate a localization heatmap by picking and summing the power of correlation peaks at TDOA delays of multipaths in both 2D and 3D. Extensive experiment results show that the MicEye can effectively locate sound sources in different rooms, exhibiting about 2× improved accuracy and $frac{1}{{10}}$ latency of the State-of-the-Art (SoTA) solutions.","PeriodicalId":191968,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124766483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, wireless devices offload partial computation tasks to an access point integrated with a MEC server. During this process, an eavesdropper tries to overhear the private information of devices. We propose an IRS-assisted secure offloading scheme that adjusts the phase of the IRS to improve the security of computation offloading. We aim to maximize the minimum secrecy rate of devices by jointly optimizing the transmit power of devices for computation offloading, the computation task partitions, and the passive beamforming of the IRS while satisfying the offloading rate constraint and the energy budget constraint. To deal with the formulated highly non-convex problem, we develop a block coordinate descent-based algorithm that decouples the problem into two subproblems of optimizing resource allocation and passive beamforming. Besides, successive convex approximation and semidefinite relaxation are exploited to solve the two subproblems. Simulation results demonstrate that our designed scheme yields a performance enhancement compared to benchmarks.","PeriodicalId":191968,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123925004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a paradigm in which each large service is composed of several lightweight MSs distributed among different small base stations (SBSs) to perform individual functions. For an arbitrary service request, the macro base station (MBS) invokes the SBSs that have cached the necessary MSs to execute the corresponding computational tasks. Once the computation is completed, the SBSs send the results back to the MBS, which then integrates and delivers the final result to the user. Taking into account the practical considerations of users’ service latency requirements and SBSs’ limited caching and computing resources, we formulate the minimization problem. To solve it efficiently, we develop a two-stage approach. In the first stage, we derive the closed-form expression of the computing resource allocation policy with regard to the MS placement. In the second stage, we introduce the swapping-oriented algorithm to explore an improved MS placement strategy. The simulation results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm achieves close-to-optimal performance compared to the exhaustive algorithm and significantly outperforms the other benchmark strategies.","PeriodicalId":191968,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124313153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different from existing works, we characterize subscribers’ QoE by video bitrates, latency, and frame freezing and propose to improve their QoE by energy-efficiently and dynamically optimizing the multi-UAV network in terms of serving UAV selection, UAV trajectory, and UAV transmit power. The dynamic multi-UAV network optimization problem is formulated as a challenging sequential-decision problem with the goal of maximizing subscribers’ QoE while minimizing the total network power consumption, subject to some physical resource constraints. We propose a novel network optimization algorithm to solve this challenging problem, in which a Lyapunov technique is first explored to decompose the sequential-decision problem into several repeatedly optimized sub-problems to avoid the curse of dimensionality. To solve the sub-problems, iterative and approximate optimization mechanisms with provable performance guarantees are then developed. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively improve the QoE of subscribers and is 45.69% more energy-efficient than benchmarks.","PeriodicalId":191968,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126359269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can not only boost cognitive function, social skills, and spatial-temporal skills, but also relieve stress, anxiety, and depression. However, traditional pianos are often too expensive and bulky while electronic pianos may not be portable enough. In addition, some individuals may find it difficult to identify mistakes when practicing the piano alone at home. But hiring a piano teacher can be a significant burden for an average household. To address these issues, this paper introduces PianoRF, a portable and lightweight piano system based on RFID technology. The basic idea of PianoRF is to employ RFID tags as the piano keyboard. However, severe coupling effects and multipath interference can occur between adjacent tags. To avoid this, we modified the traditional RFID tag by cutting off its circuit at a proper position and adding a silicone button and a self-made keypad. Thus, the circuit of the tag is only connected when pressing its button, and then we can identify the key press according to the received signals from the pressed tag. Compared to existing piano learning systems, PianoRF can be simply placed on a flat surface so that users can play the piano anytime and anywhere. Moreover, PianoRF can generate a feedback report, which helps users identify their mistakes and improve their piano-playing skills.","PeriodicalId":191968,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128134841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Encrypted aggregation of uploaded parameters could resolve this issue. However, it brings challenges to the defense of model poisoning attacks in federated learning while solving the privacy problem. To address this issue, a robust federated learning scheme with privacy-preserving (RFLP) is proposed to eliminate the impact of model poisoning attacks while protecting the privacy of participants against untrusted servers. Specifically, an abnormal gradients detecting method is designed to achieve robust federated learning under encrypted aggregation using Pailliar homomorphic encryption. It is based on the concept of Krum aggregation algorithm (AGR), but utilizes privacy-preserving data features, thereby ensuring privacy. To reduce the rounds of communication in robust aggregation, a multidimensional homomorphic encryption approach is constructed. Besides, an aggregated signature authentication method is also constructed to ensure data integrity during transmission. The experiment results show that the training accuracy of RFLP with 10% malicious participants is 11.9% and 15.3% higher than that without robust aggregation.","PeriodicalId":191968,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125258552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
