In this paper, we systematically investigated the healthcare spending differences between the USA and 11 similar OECD developed nations, and found the healthcare spending difference was mainly caused by a combination of lower volume, lower efficiency, and much higher prices in America. Particularly, we estimated Americans received 40% less per capita healthcare volume/quantity. On average, they spent $1977.4 more on insurance billing and payment administration, and the US healthcare delivery system was 27% less efficient. Also, the US healthcare price was about 129% higher than the average of the sampled countries. Based on these research findings, we discuss various implications on the US healthcare reform and future research directions.","PeriodicalId":191197,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Comparative Management","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129675743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to discuss the relationship of a firm's openness as an element of organisational culture and staff training as an element of organisational learning to its activity in introducing administration and management innovation in two countries. Data collection was conducted in Latvia and Russia. To make the research more specific, organisational innovation is broken down into two categories: innovation in management practices; and innovation in workplace organisation. The result obtained demonstrated the positive impact of staff training on innovation activities and openness on staff trading, though the values were found significantly different for the two countries. The study has also shown that the roots of traditions in doing business were deeply related to a nation's originality, and no external impact could ruin them completely. At the practical level, in terms of comparable management theory, this means that cultural traditions persist in a society, regardless of any circumstances artificially created for business by outside forces over a long period.","PeriodicalId":191197,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Comparative Management","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117021778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using data collected from a sample of 634 women-owned small and medium enterprises in Kenya and analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), the results supported strategic orientation-financial inclusion hypothesis. In particular, the results indicate that entrepreneurs with higher levels of market and technology orientation are more likely to be financially included, while those with higher levels of learning orientation are associated with decreased levels of financial inclusion.","PeriodicalId":191197,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Comparative Management","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132467465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research strategy used was the case study and it is configured as a qualitative research of exploratory and descriptive character. The data collection occurred by means of semi-structured interviews with workers from the investigated organisation, organisation's document reading and news about the organisation in different mediatic sources reading. The data was analysed by an interrelation between the narrative analysis and the Bourdieusian sociology concepts. The results showed that the field's doxa: presents elements that do not corroborate to the sustainable development and that even denounce a symbolic domination within the field; and, is organised and structured by elements related to the weak sustainability, which pillars are the exploitation maintenance and the economic development continuity.","PeriodicalId":191197,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Comparative Management","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122086006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An attempt is made to assess the link, both at aggregate level using board effectiveness index, and at disaggregate level, by exploring the effect of board composition, board structure, board activity, and board independence separately, on bank performance in India. The board's influence on the performance of public and private bank groups is also explored. The econometric results obtained using bias-corrected least squares dummy variable approach suggest that overall board effectiveness does seem to have an impact on the performance of public sector banks, while only board composition significantly explains performance of private banks in India. At disaggregated level, the CEO duality, female directors, and trained independent directors on board exert a positive impact on the bank performance. Finally, the nominee directors exert a negative influence on the performance of private banks.","PeriodicalId":191197,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Comparative Management","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133309593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper problematises how board representation as such may not be the issue, but rather how well nested the women are: that is, whether there is a difference in board members' representation on multiple boards between women and men and how this affects the woman's influence, or power, on a particular board. This paper relates such representations not only to whether women hold several board positions, but also to the shape of the network that the multiple representations create. The paper points at how the power of women on boards varies with (1) the existence of few or many interlocks on the board, (2) the number of representations held by the female board member, (3) the fragmented or large network that the female board member is part of, and (4) whether the network consists of direct or indirect links.","PeriodicalId":191197,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Comparative Management","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128005850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To do so, the study aims to measure the impact of direct comparative advertisement in eastern culture for a low involved product like honey. Under the supervision, post-graduate management students collected the data during the field visit through intercept technique after taking approval. This paper uses 1 × 1 fully crossed designs (comparison ad format: direct strategy; market leader brand vs. challenger brand) with established and new brands in the category of honey. The results suggest that direct comparative advertisement has helped the leader brand more compared to challenger brand. The contribution of the paper is an application of Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) to explain the success of Patanjali brand in honey segment and how religious belief and gender factors affect the purchase behaviour due to direct comparative advertising.","PeriodicalId":191197,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Comparative Management","volume":"13 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128926232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, index is formed by combining sub-indices of telecommunication sector and energy sector, based on methodology used by McNeil et al. This study employs a time span of 33 years divided into four structural breaks. This paper also examines the linkage between infrastructure index and economic growth using time series analysis for BRICS countries. It is detected that telecommunication index shows increasing trend of growth in all structural breaks. Energy index shows an increasing trend from 1984 to 1991 followed by a decreasing trend from year 1992 to 1999. Energy index also shows an increasing trend from year 2000 to 2007 and year 2008 to 2016. Final infrastructure index shows an increasing trend of growth in all structural breaks. It is detected that infrastructure index has an insignificant effect on economic growth.","PeriodicalId":191197,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Comparative Management","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116286708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data was collected from bank employees working in private banks. Confirmatory factor analysis provided a good model fit. The hierarchical regression analysis was used to examine the hypothesised constructs. The results indicated a good fit for the hypothesised model. The result also showed a negative relationship between customer incivility and psychological health through the mediating role of job strain. This study adds value to the ongoing research in the field of psychological health and well-being of service sector employees. The study has major implications for banking authorities and suggests recruiting more employees to complete the task. Adjustment to this issue can make the banks ready for further financial alterations.","PeriodicalId":191197,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Comparative Management","volume":"41 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120955787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the recent years we have witnessed a steady growth in these sustainability standards for agricultural commodities and food products. They are mostly developed by industry consortia, NGOs, or through partnerships between them, thereby linking producers, exporters and buyers across national boundaries. The paper attempts to provide a global perspective of VSS with special reference to the Indian economy. The available literature on this topic being highly fragmented, the present paper offers to assimilate the information meaningfully to establish the business and development case of VSS to understand its need and role in value creation, synergising, accountability, competitiveness, motivation and universalisation along with defining the roles of varied stakeholders in improving VSS governance. The methodology is based on an extensive literature review of policy, research papers and reports accrued from research organisations, academic institutes and NGO's working in this domain. Lastly, the paper offers several policy implications.","PeriodicalId":191197,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Comparative Management","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133641083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
