Depression is one of the most common disorders encountered by doctors in the practice of primary health care and represents a serious medical and social problem. In elderly age, it most often occurs with other health conditions and diseases and lasts longer than in younger people. Given that 10-15% of the elderly suffer from depression, depression is recognized as the most common mental health disorder of the elderly. It is very import-ant to recognize the symptoms of depression because they can often be unrecognizable due to somatic symptoms. The aim of the work is to examine depression in old people in the area of the city of Belgrade. Method: An anonymous questionnaire was used as a research instrument. The time of the conducted research is July-August 2022. The total number of respondents is 80 old people, and they answered 24 questions. Results: Persons over 85 years old (83.3%) have depressive symptoms. Depressive symptoms are more frequent in women than in men (M:F 88.8%:48.5%). Subjects with a vocational qualification most often have depressive symptoms (75%). Respondents who are single (73.7%), divorced (60%) in institutions (75%), live on the floor (55.6%) alone (62.5%) and receive social assistance (73.5%)) more often have depressive symptoms compared to respondents who are married (79.5%), live in a house/apartment (71.7%) with their spouse (77.5%) and receive a pension (80.9%). We can conclude that the largest number of depressed people is over 85 years old, where every third female person has depression in our sample. Conclusion: The study showed that most often, depressive symptoms appear in subjects with incomplete elementary school, single/unmarried, in institutions, living alone and receiving social assistance.","PeriodicalId":190735,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska vizija","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133440657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Infections caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria represent a global problem, limiting the choice of antimicrobial therapy. Objective: To determine the rate of infections in ICUs, as well as the type of MDR bacteria associated with such infections. Material and methods: The study included strains of MDR bacteria isolated from laboratory samples of hospitalized patients in surgical ICUs in a one-year period. All strains of MDR bacteria were isolated and identified by standard microbiological methods for aerobic bacteria according to the recommendations and guidelines are given by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). Results: Infections caused by MDR bacterial isolates were confirmed in 199 (19.17%) patients in ICUs. The frequency of Gram-negative isolates was significantly higher than Gram-positive (88.35% and 11.65%, p <0.001). The most common infections in ICUs caused by MDR bacteria were respiratory tract infections (49%), followed by soft tissue and skin infections. The CDI incidence density 1.13 cases/10,000 patient-days. Conclusion: A high frequency of infections caused by MDR bacteria was found with patients in ICUs, and respiratory tract infections dominated. Information on the types of infections and pathogens can help develop policies for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and resource allocation.","PeriodicalId":190735,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska vizija","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114299066","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The disease is characterized by metastases that can range from limited bone metastases to wide-spread and life-threatening metastases. The main goal of caring for these patients is to successfully control the symptoms of the disease, the side effects of the tumor while preserving the quality of life and surviving as long as possible. Objective was to show the specifics of interventions in the health care of a patient with breast cancer with metastatic changes in the endocranium Methods: We used a descriptive method and a conservative direct method: case study of a patient with breast cancer and metastatic changes in the brain according to the method of the Nursing Care Process (NCP). Discussion: Modern nursing care implies patient care according to a scientifically based method, universal in the nursing practice NCP, according to which care is focused on the patient/family, re-specting their preferences. NCP includes: continuous assessment of the patient's condition and defining problems and care needs, setting goals and selecting optimal care strategies. The most COM-mon collaborative problems for our patient were: pain, fatigue, anemia, insomnia. The problems that the nurses solved through independent interventions were: deficit in self-care, prevention of falls and injuries, lack of knowledge regarding the radiation pro-cedure, risk of infection, and the possibility of excess fluid volume. Conclusion: Patients with advanced breast cancer and their families have complex needs, the failure of which can result in impaired quality of life. An individual approach is needed in as-sessing the patient's condition, identifying needs, and planning interventions based on scientific evidence, available health re-sources, and preferences of patient/family. Patient care according to the NCP method promises a more comprehensive approach, improved patient experience as well as improved medical out-comes.","PeriodicalId":190735,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska vizija","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131332634","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Certainly, a gluten-free diet for some people is a necessity in case of illness, but very often it is a product of striving for a healthier and different way of life carried out through nutrition. This way of eating is often represented by professional athletes, who have to compensate for their increased need for carbohydrates in a different way, when the regime of training and activities is completely adapted to a gluten-free diet. In this way, eliminating gluten quickly becomes a way of life after a short period of time. It is essential to note that a gluten-free diet is not necessary for a \"healthy\" diet -there is a much more efficient way to achieve such a style of eating, but still, you should know that some people must avoid gluten if they have celiac disease or an intolerance ie. gluten sensitivity. How and in what way a gluten-free diet affects sports activities, as well as what training method is recommended with such a diet, through a research review of the literature and previous research, the work follows the general indicators of what gluten is and how its exclusion from the diet manifests itself in sports activities.","PeriodicalId":190735,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska vizija","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125460457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Certain health risks, such as drug abuse during pregnancy, can have fatal consequences for the outcome of pregnancy and the health of women and newborns. Drugs are classified into several categories according to their risk of harm to the fetus. The classification of the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is most often used, which is the purpose of drugs in the categories for pets (A, B, C, D, H). Aim: Examine the information and personal experiences of pregnant women regarding the use of drugs in pregnancy. Methods: The research was conducted in the form of cross-sectional studies. As a research instrument, a questionnaire for pregnant women was constructed, which assesses their level of information about aspects of drug use in pregnancy, as well as personal experiences. The study included a sample of 60 pregnant women, the sample was intentional, the study was conducted at the Jokić Polyclinic, in the period January-June 2020. Participation in the studies was voluntary and anonymous, the research was approved by the competent authorities of the institution. Results: The subjects in the observed sample were pregnant women aged 21 to 35 years. The majority of pregnant women are uninformed about the use of drugs during pregnancy. The most commonly used drugs in pregnancy are antibiotics. A large number of respondents believe that gynecologists and pharmacists should inform pregnant women more on this topic. Descriptive statistics methods were used in the analysis of the results. Conclusion: The results of the research indicate the need for a higher level of education on the safe use of drugs in pregnancy. It is necessary to intensify health education work in cooperation with health institutions of all levels. This need is also felt by pregnant women who feel that they do not know enough about this topic.","PeriodicalId":190735,"journal":{"name":"Sestrinska vizija","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117098781","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
