Data warehouse development involves many knowledge-intensive activities, of which requirements elicitation is recognized as being crucial and difficult to model. This paper adapts the data warehouse requirements elicitation process, namely informational scenarios, to incorporate business quality at the requirements engineering level of the DW development. To accomplish this, we look at DW business quality mainly from the context of changing economic factors and environmental concerns.","PeriodicalId":189871,"journal":{"name":"2008 First International Conference on the Applications of Digital Information and Web Technologies (ICADIWT)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115050455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system builds music models using hidden Markov models with mel frequency cepstral coefficients, which are features of sound wave. Each song is modeled with an HMM and the similarity measure between songs are defined based on the models. With the similarity measure, the songs the user listened to in the past are grouped and analyzed. The system recommends pieces of music to the user based on the result of the analysis. We evaluate our system with virtual users who have various preferences, and observe which recommendation lists the system generates. In most cases, the system recommends the pieces of music which are close to userpsilas preference.","PeriodicalId":189871,"journal":{"name":"2008 First International Conference on the Applications of Digital Information and Web Technologies (ICADIWT)","volume":"40 12","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114040252","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main idea is to integrate Web sources into a (virtual) global repository being queried by users instead of particular sources. For the sources might provide data of a different quality, a novel reputation system is proposed specially for the distributed source environment handling differences in the quality of the sources. The quality of the sources is affected by many components that are combined into a measure influencing the reputation of sources. The global repository is designed not only to passively collect data, but also to provide valuable feedback to the sources. The formalism used for description of the global repository is a generalization of the binary matrix formalism, which is narrowly connected with the ideas of the semantic Web.","PeriodicalId":189871,"journal":{"name":"2008 First International Conference on the Applications of Digital Information and Web Technologies (ICADIWT)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132480883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes two new techniques for speaker identification based on utilizing a reduced set of the features generated from the Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient method (MFCC). These techniques are based on histograms for the features using pre-defined interval lengths. The first technique builds a histogram for all data in the feature vectors for each speaker while the second technique builds a histogram for each feature column in the feature set of each speaker. Speaker identification is based on the Euclidian distance measure.","PeriodicalId":189871,"journal":{"name":"2008 First International Conference on the Applications of Digital Information and Web Technologies (ICADIWT)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132019699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A novel information model called the cellular model can model objects and their relations in Cyberworlds from general to specific based on the incrementally modular abstraction hierarchy. We have previously developed a processing system called the Cellular Data System (CDS) based on the model. This time we have designed and implemented the process for dividing spaces by creating condition formulas according to the set theoretical processing in the CDS. We currently take advantage of a useful search function called a condition formula search. Creating condition formulas essentially means that data operation requirements of users themselves can be included into a system as a space on the set theoretical level when employing CDS in business application development and also suggests the starting point of implementing the process graph theory, which makes linear business application system development possible, preventing combinatorial explosions.","PeriodicalId":189871,"journal":{"name":"2008 First International Conference on the Applications of Digital Information and Web Technologies (ICADIWT)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130846678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The rules that we propose are divided into two categories, those who transform the ER schema and others transform the relational database schema, the two complement each other to build an ontology representing a new view of reality perceived. The purpose of this work is to provide users with conventional systems, the convenience of migrating to an ontological approach without loss of information with an opportunity to enrich their systems, while retaining the principle of running the old system. This software application was developed for the purpose of the support of multi-criteria decision-making in the field of electrical power engineering. The MCA8 runs on Windows with .NET framework 2.0 and it is user-friendly. The MCA8 offers six methods of multi-criteria analysis (MCA) for solving multi-criteria decision-making tasks. These methods are WSA, IPA, TOPSIS, AGREPREF, CDA and PROMETHEE. We can use them for example for selecting the most suitable old devices in electrical networks, which we need to replace by new devices (Reclosers in this paper). The application of these remote-controlled devices causes acceleration in handling and thus shortening of duration of a fault in the network. This results in rising of probability of faultless service and thus the reliability of electrical energy supply.","PeriodicalId":189871,"journal":{"name":"2008 First International Conference on the Applications of Digital Information and Web Technologies (ICADIWT)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132733808","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It means some sensors are more reliable than others for some reasons. For example some sensors may be in relatively bad environments and some of the gathered data is destroyed or ruined. How to deal with the information gathered from different sensors efficiently is an important multi-sensors problem. The existence of multi-sensors problem will degrade the learning quality of classification models. And almost all of the existing classifier can not deal with this problem. So handling multi-sensors problem is important and necessary for building a high quality classification model and smart environments. In this paper a new classifier capable of dealing with this multi-sensors problem is proposed and it has a very good performance which is proved by experiments. This classifier can combine the information gathered from different sensors efficiently and in can add the new coming data to make a more efficient classifier even all of the original data is lost. Because of all the advantages it has, the new classifier is proposed sincerely to apply into smart environments.","PeriodicalId":189871,"journal":{"name":"2008 First International Conference on the Applications of Digital Information and Web Technologies (ICADIWT)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128980161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
