From regression analysis, the low growth rate of ∼3 Å/min was obtained and the reduction of growth rate due to absorbing film was observed. The growth was strongly affected by the movement of solution indicating a reaction-limited process at film and solution boundary.","PeriodicalId":18940,"journal":{"name":"Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals Science and Technology. The resulting polymers have been characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, DSC and UV/Vis spectroscopy. The weight average molecular weight (M w ) of polymers were in the range of 13,000–30,700 and thermal decomposition initiated in the range of 350-370°C. Good quality films were obtained by spin-coating onto indium tin oxide (ITO) glass plate and some of polymers exhibited smectic and nematic liquid crystalline phase at elevated temperatures. These polymers showed promising photochromic and thermochromic activities for optical recording materials.","PeriodicalId":18940,"journal":{"name":"Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals Science and Technology. The existence of sodium ion channel in the extract of the labial palpus of fly was recognized by the plannar bilayer membrane experiment. Fluorescent dye, Di-8-ANEPPS, which is very sensitive to the change to the membrane potential, was used to clarif the availability of this system for sensor applications. The fluorescence intensity of liposomes was proportional to the concentration of salt solution (membrane potential) added as stimulative substances. Addition of tetrodotoxin (sodium channel blocker) revealed that sodium ion channel in the extract of the labial palpus of fly was successfully reconstituted into liposome.","PeriodicalId":18940,"journal":{"name":"Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals Science and Technology. Since the cavity-like structure of calixarenes was immobilized, they exhibited selective affinity towards specific metal ions in aqueous media. Voltammetric as well as EQCM and spectroscopic studies showed the well-ordered deposition of organic receptors and entrapment of metal ions. And it also was found that the repeated capture and removal of metal ions reversibly with chelating agents such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) was possible. This is the first example, in our knowledge, of voltammetric detection of metal ions in aqueous media using a chemically modified electrode with redoxactive macrocyclic receptors.","PeriodicalId":18940,"journal":{"name":"Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals Science and Technology.
