In order to have a perfect understanding of the medicinal plants it is therefore most essential to be familiar with the branch of Ayur-vedic Pharmacology i.e. “Dravyaguna Vigyan” which provides the scientific knowledge of the fundamen-tals of Ayurvedic medicinal properties with their pharmacological action. Ayurvedic history can be divided into three time periods – Vedic period, Samhita period, Nighantu period. The Nighantu period is the golden period of the Ayurvedic Materia Medica literature. Many Nighantus or lexicons were written after the sam-hita period. Initially the Ayurvedic Nighantus are based on different samhitas containing only the syno-nyms which communicated the prevalent names, morphological characters, and properties, actions of drugs, habitat and relevant information. As time passed many species enters in India from their native plac-es for economical and medicinal importance. Many of them were added in various lexicons on the basis of their pharmacological or therapeutic properties. Mainly the literature of Dravyaguna is available in two forms one is texts which describe only synonyms of drugs e.g. Ashtanga Nighantu, Paryaya Ratnamala, Hridaya Deepaka Nighantu, Nighantu Sesha, etc., and second is texts which explain synonyms along with properties, Indications and actions e.g. Dhanwantari Nighantu, Sodhala Nighantu, Madanpal Nighantu etc. Sodhala Nighantu is written by Acharya Sodhala in 12th century. In the introductory verses Sodhala ex-press his view that students of Ayurveda in his time are facing great difficulty as the list of drugs, proper classification, nomenclature etc. are not available. Therefore, he composed this work after consulting earli-er works of Agnivesa, Sushruta and mainly the author of Ashtang - Vagabhattacharya. He claims that this text will solve controversies among various texts.","PeriodicalId":188049,"journal":{"name":"February 2021","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116633929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Modern luxurious lifestyle and sendentary habits of people have been inviting so many diseas-es like Prameha (Diabetis), Amavata (Arthritis), Amlapitta (Gastritis) etc. The cardinal features of Amlapit-ta includes utklesha (nausea), hritdaha (heartburn), kantadaha (throat burn), amlodgara (sour and bitter belching), chardi (vomiting), kukshidaha (abdominal burn) etc. The present study was taken up to evaluate efficacy of Kadali kanda churna and Kadali kanda kwatha in Urdwaga Amlapitta (Functional dyspepsia). A total of 20 patients having clinical features of Urdwaga Amlapitta were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups with 10 patients each. Group A was treated with Kadali kanda churna and Group B was treated with Kadali kanda kwatha. Subjective parameters were suitably graded to assess the results based on the clinical observations. Statistical tests were applied to analyze the results. In the present study it was observed that the percentage of success of Group A was 93.75% and that of Group B was 65%. Group A showed better results when compared to Group B.","PeriodicalId":188049,"journal":{"name":"February 2021","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121807055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pregnant state produces several normal and expected changes in all the ma-ternal organ systems, from which vaginal candidiasis is one. Vaginal secretion changes during pregnancy mainly vaginal PH. Vaginal secretions during pregnancy falls from a pH of greater than 7 (an alkaline pH) to 4 or 5 (an acid pH). Due to this change in vaginal pH candida albicans growth occurs. In pregnancy, there is higher oestrogen level and higher glycogen level which helps in growth of candida. According to Ayurveda if woman during pregnancy take Kapha aggravating Ahar and Vihar excessively and suppresses the urges of vomiting and respiration, the vitiated Vayu carries Kapha to genital tract affect the same and vaginal white discharge is seen in pregnant woman due to Kapha and Vata; This is known as \"Upapluta Yonivyapad\". Lodhra has Kashay Ras which help in decreasing Kapha Dosha and Madhu has Tridoshahar property which cures Upapluta Yonivyapad. Aim: The present study is aimed to assess the efficacy of Lodhra with Madhu gel in Upapluta Yonivyapad. Material and Methods: The present study is done, to analyze the effect of Lodhra and Madhu gel in Upapluta Yonivyapad. Study is performed with help of var-ious previous research paper published, from various authentic Ayurvedic and Modern books as well as Samhitas. Conclusion: In pregnancy, due to Kapha and Vata there is a change in vaginal pH and vaginal white discharge; Also, there is high estrogen level which cause vaginal candida. Lodhra has property of Kaphahar, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antihelminthic. Madhu is one of the five elixirs of immortality (panchamrut) and has properties like: Tridoshahar, antiseptic, antimicrobial, antiallergic, anti-inflammatory. Thus, it balances the Dosha and result in decrease (vaginal candida) Upapluta Yonivyapad. Thus, Lodhra and Madhu gel can work effectively in Upapluta Yonivyapad.","PeriodicalId":188049,"journal":{"name":"February 2021","volume":"132 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122914924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various clinical Observations indicate the inter-action of SARS CoV– 2 viruses with the immune system which plays a significant role in determining the outcome of infection and it is responsible for controlling the immunopathogenesis of coronavirus infec-tion. Early control of this contagious disease within the host, limits its spread. Yet no system of medicine has any evidence-based treatment for COVID – 19. All the doctrine of medicine in the world has tried to develop effective strategies to overcome this disorder. Panchakarma and Rasayana therapy are indicated as an effective management plan for Janpdhodhwamsa Vyadhi (epidemic disease). Position of patient in minor and major surgical procedures are mentioned in Ayurveda as well as modern medical science. One of such po-sition is mentioned in Sushrut Samhita Sharirsthan chapter 8 and Shloka number 8. This reference is about Siravedh/venipuncture procedure. Siravedh is done at Sira or vein. Before this procedure a position is giv-en to patient by Vaidya. Patient is in specific sitting and Vaayu Purna Mukh i.e. air-filled mouth position. This study is about the correlation between specific sitting with Vaayu Purna Mukh and its expected effect on venous pressure in head and neck region. Venous pressure can be explained with the help of modern physiology. Specific sitting posture and Vaayu Purna Mukh can be correlated with forced expiratory effort with closed glottis. Its expected effect on peripheral veins of head and neck can be studied and correlated with Vaayu Purna Mukh position in Uttamaangiya Siravedh procedure or bloodletting or venipuncture procedure at veins of head and neck.","PeriodicalId":188049,"journal":{"name":"February 2021","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134495223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
