On the contrary, however, profound increase of sensitivity and densities (both colour and silver) are shown on negatives and also significant increase of apparent speed and dramatical reduction of fog level are shown on positives of diffusion-transfer colour development by the introduction of Phenidone (or Metol) in the developer. And it is concluded that the marked effect observed comes from the enhanced efficiency of the repeated use of the regenerated Phenidone (or Metol) by the restriction of the volume of the developer involved in this closed system.","PeriodicalId":187531,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of The Society of Scientific Photography of Japan","volume":"1969 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130192706","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the dilute aqueous solution of these Cr(VI) oxysalts, the photoactive species is acid chromate ion, HCrO4— and chromate ion, CrO42—, has no photosensitivity. The two charge transfer bands of acid chromate ion; Amax 350 and 440 mit, give rise to the photoreduction reaction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III). The quantum yields of reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) at 365 m,eC are smaller than 0.5 in these experimental conditions. It is confirmed by spectrophotometry that the photoreduction products of Cr(VI) is Cr(III) complex ion in in the aqueous solution. During the photoreduction of Cr(VI) the reducing agents are oxidized and 3 mol of oxidized form of reducing agent is produced for 2 mol of Cr(VI). By spectrometric and electron spin resonance method at —-196•Ž, it is observed that during the photoreduction process of Cr(VI) to Cr(III), it exists an intermediate valence state of chromium (Cr(V) or Cr(IV)).","PeriodicalId":187531,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of The Society of Scientific Photography of Japan","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122937097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been found that the adsorption of xanthene dyes to zinc oxide grains is caused by the coulombic force and also by van der Waals' forces, and that the coulombic force arises from the localized electrostatic interaction between carbonyl groups of the adsorbed dye molecule and zinc ions at the surface of zinc oxide grains. It has been also found that dyes in the molecular state mainly take part in spectral sensitization of photoconductivity of zinc oxide grains. Then, the authors have examined the possibility that the small amount of dyes strongly affected by imperfections of zinc oxide grains have large influences on the electron or energy transfer from the optically excited dyes to zinc oxide grains, i.e., spectral sensitization, by use of the experimental method designed in the previous work. No evidence was obtained for the presence of the influence of imperfections of zinc oxide grains on spectral sensitization of their photoconductivity. Based on these results, the relation between adsorbability and sensitizing power of photosensitive dyes for zinc oxide grains has been examined, and the dye with the strong adsorbability has been found to show the strong sensitizing power . This result is thought to support the electron transfer mechanism for spectral sensitization of photoconductivity of zinc oxide grains .","PeriodicalId":187531,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of The Society of Scientific Photography of Japan","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121554122","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A proteolytic enzyme with a broad specificity, for example, Pronase (a proteolytic enzyme from Streptoniyces griseus), very easily hydrolyzes, in the presence of CaC12, the specific parts of collagen fibers, in which intraand inter-molecular crosslinks of collagen exist. Therefore, the solubilized molecules consist mainly of a-chains (a constituent polypeptide chain of a collagen molecule) in the case of calf skin and of aand only small amounts of p-chains (two a-chains are intra-molecularly crosslinked into a le-chain) even in the case of steer hide. Gelatins, which contain only a few n-chain molecules, can be obtained after desalting and inactivating the enzyme only by the heat denaturation of the collagen molecules. The gelatins thus prepared are of a single-chain character and have the high rigidity modulus of the gels, low intrinsic viscosities, and a narrow distribution of molecular weight.","PeriodicalId":187531,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of The Society of Scientific Photography of Japan","volume":"249 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115233432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
