Koseki","doi":"10.11454/PHOTOGRST1951.1956.1","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.11454/PHOTOGRST1951.1956.1","url":null,"abstract":"Adsorption of several classes of substances has, or is believed to have, an important significance in the photographic process. Adsorption of gelatin and optical sensitizers is investigated relatively well. But, about chemical sensitizers and antifogging agents or retarding substances, there are a few reports. Thiourea and its derivatives were adsorbed on silver bromide grains and they prevented the adsorption of optical sensitizers1,2). Cystine, glutation and vitamine B1 were adsorbed on silver bromide hydrosol and showed fog-inhibiting property on the photographic emulsions, but, methionine and lanthionine could not be adsorbed and inhibit fogging of the photographic emulsions3). Adsorption of benzimidazoles4), benzotriazoles, 1-phenyl-5-mercapto-tetrazoleo, and triazaindolizineso on silver bromide were measured and its relation to their stabilizing action were discussed. It has been reported that adsorption of antifogging agents is an important factor in determining the relative antifogging action of nitro-benzimidazole7). Cooperative and competitive adsorption of several kinds of addition agents was treated by chromatographic investigation8•`10). Measurements of adsorption of chemical sensitizers or retarding substances on silver halide were done almost by using silver salts free of gelatin, not in the photographic emulsions in practice. And, the arrangement of adsorbed molecules on silver halide grains and relations between amounts adsorbed of addition agent and its effect on the photographic emulsions, have been discussed quantitatively only about optical sensitizers\" not yet chemical sensitizers and retarding agents. In the work described in this report, the object has been to make a systematic survey of the adsorption characteristics on silver halide grains of several retarding agents embracing two types of them, for example, compounds having thiol radical as active one and compounds involving no thiol group in their structures. The prime interest centered around any connection which might reveal itself between adsorption and chemical retarding action, and the adsorptive systems examined were therefore normal photographic bromoiodide suspension in about 8.5% aqueous gelatin solution. Being based on some assumption, critical size of sensitivity speck has been estimated.","PeriodicalId":187531,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of The Society of Scientific Photography of Japan","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115511765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The spectral range of laser oscillation thus obtained was near infrared, ranging from 707 nm to 812 nm. The spectrum changed with the concentration of solution and shifted toward longer wavelength with increasing concentration. The largest shift was about 50 nm/mol in some combinations of dye and solvent while the smallest shift was about 20 nm/mol. Regardless of the solvent used, all the dyes showed a spectral width of 50 nm-80 nm near a medium concentration optimal for laser ocillation. The resonator used was 200 mm in length and equipped with two reflecting mirrors, one with 99% reflectivity and the other with 30% reflectivity. The dye cell was a 10•~10•~40 mm quartz cuvette and pumped from the direction normal to the resonator. The conversion efficiency in laser osicllation was 21% at maxium and the peak power reached 2.1 MW at maximum. The half width of laser pulse was about 20 ns and a time delay of about 20 ns was observed between laser pulse and puming pulse.","PeriodicalId":187531,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of The Society of Scientific Photography of Japan","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132292469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
