Many small-scale installations show the possible benefits for both the agricultural and energy sector. However, this multidisciplinary technology also results in a complex design process for the various stakeholders (farmers, PV installers, policy makers). This work proposes the first, easy to use, “quick-scan” webtool incorporating several performance indicators on crop and energy level. The webtool provides insights in the relationship of the performance indicators and important cost-determining design parameters, and therefore seriously reduce the design phase. It is concluded that crop impact information is still the missing key in the further development of the tool and this technology.","PeriodicalId":187362,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Renewable Energies and Smart Technologies (REST)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124898305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the country is subject to hydrological alteration and a lack of generation diversity. This paper investigates the system-wide and regional electricity demand based on a data-driven approach. Besides, the paper assesses the elasticity of electricity consumption to temperature. Historical data highlights that electricity self-sufficiency has only been accomplished in 3 out of the last 10 years. On the one hand, the electricity consumption behavior is highly correlated (up to 72.68 %) with temperature. On the other hand, the yearly regional electricity demand is related more to population numbers rather than purchasing power or household appliances. Although, such observation is affected by high regional (North part) distribution system losses. The comfort region ranges from $20.3-24.3^{circ}C$, while the heating and cooling demand saturate at 3 and $32^{circ}C$, respectively. Lastly, the largest values for the rate of demand increase to the temperature on the heating and cooling region are $29 MWh/^{circ}C$ and $21 MWh/^{circ}C$, each.","PeriodicalId":187362,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Renewable Energies and Smart Technologies (REST)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115191059","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, concepts for providing reserve power are discussed using wind and solar power plants. Because of their fluctuating power generation, a high reliability of reserve power provision must be ensured by applying concepts based on stochastic methods. For increasing the amount of reliable control reserve power provision, storage units can support the renewable energy generation plants. Besides lithium batteries, storage units from the gas and heat sector may be used. Hence, primary sector coupling is utilized. In this paper, it is investigated if and how these sector coupling technologies can support the control reserve provision. It is shown that the investigated virtual power plants containing combined heat and power plants (CHP), electrolyzers and fuel cells are technically able to do this and fulfill the required reliability.","PeriodicalId":187362,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Renewable Energies and Smart Technologies (REST)","volume":"I 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129820733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With its wide-ranging consumption sectors, the electricity sector comes as the perfect choice to start with. Recent reports showed that the German federal government is already intending to have a fully renewable electricity by 2035 while exploiting all possible clean power options. This was published in the federal government’s climate emergency program (Easter Package) in early 2022. The aim of this package is to initiate a rapid transition and decarbonization of the electricity sector. The Easter Package expects an enormous growth of renewable energies to a completely new level, with already at least 80% renewable gross energy consumption, with extensive and broad deployment of different generation technologies on various scales. This paper will discuss this ambitious plan and outline some insights into this huge and rapidly increasing step, and show how much will Germany need in order to achieve this huge milestone towards a fully green supply of the electricity sector. Different scenarios and shares of renewables will be investigated in order to elaborate on preponed climate-neutral goal of the electricity sector by 2035. The results pointed out some promising aspects in achieving a 100% renewable power, with massive investments in both generation and storage technologies.","PeriodicalId":187362,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Renewable Energies and Smart Technologies (REST)","volume":"I 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129938157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But high energy density batteries emit more heat during charging and discharging, which not only reduces battery performance but also increases the risk of explosion. Based on the flow resistance network model, the structure of the Z-type parallel air-cooled battery thermal management system is optimized with the Runge Kutta optimizer. By simultaneously optimizing the angle of the wedge-shaped baffles at the bottom and top of the system and the gap spacing between the batteries, the airflow distribution in the cooling channels is changed to evenly distribute the temperature of the battery pack and improve the cooling efficiency of battery thermal management system. The optimized models are compared with the existing two models under various air mass flow rates through Computational Fluid Dynamics. The results show that the optimized models have lower maximum temperature and smaller volume, and the improvement of the maximum temperature difference and temperature uniformity is particularly significant. Compared with the existing two models, the optimized models reduce the maximum temperature difference by 62.78% and 34.24% and improve the maximum temperature uniformity by 60.61% and 28.70%.","PeriodicalId":187362,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Renewable Energies and Smart Technologies (REST)","volume":"173 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125792741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is well known that dust accumulation can lead to a sharp decrease in the photovoltaic efficiency of photovoltaic panels. In order to improve the output power of photovoltaic panels, a method of cleaning the pollution of photovoltaic panels based on high-speed airflow was studied. The dust cleaning mechanism was numerically simulated by commercial CFD software. In this paper, the relationship between the separation time of particles from the PV module surface and the surface airflow velocity under different high-speed airflow speeds and angles was studied, and the diffusion law and removal rate of dust under different wind speeds and air blowing angles were studied. On this basis, the optimal wind speed and air blowing Angle affecting dust separation was determined. The results show that with the increase of the velocity of high-speed airflow, the separation speed of dust is faster, and the residence time of dust in the photovoltaic panel is related to the particle size, and the residence time of dust is longer with the larger particle size. In the process of adjusting the blowing Angle of high-speed airflow from 0° to 90°, the separation velocity of dust shows a decreasing trend, and the best effect is achieved when the blowing Angle is 0°. The research results are helpful for the design and development of photovoltaic panel cleaning equipment and provide theoretical guidance for improving the efficiency of photovoltaic power generation.","PeriodicalId":187362,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Renewable Energies and Smart Technologies (REST)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125219530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Experimental measurements are collected and analyzed to identify electrical and thermal properties. The parameters identified are open circuit voltage, polarization resistance, diffusion resistances and capacitances. Measurements are carried out for different State-of-Charge and temperatures values. The current interruption method is used to identify the properties of the battery, since it is an effective way to analyze the whole battery pack without disassembling the vehicle. Afterwards, a cooldown analysis is described to identify thermal properties such as thermal capacitance and resistance. The paper is concluded with an early-stage assessment of the degradation of the battery pack after 1.5 years by using on-board readings of State-of-Health, temperature, and State-of-Charge. Stepwise changes in the State-of-Health are observed every 90 days superimposed to the expected degradation trend.","PeriodicalId":187362,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Renewable Energies and Smart Technologies (REST)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130351675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Growing awareness is emerging in a heterogenous audience, and it is predominant in the energy sector, where both producers and consumers behaviours have a direct consequence on the environment. In this context, the present paper aims at investigating the environmental impact of the energy valorisation of the organic matter from municipal solid waste in a real site in Italy. The municipal solid waste management system under investigation is composed by different sub-areas such as mechanical-biological treatment unit for organic matter separation, anaerobic digestion in mesophile regime, composting facility for compost production and a sanitary landfill for final deposition of unrecyclable waste. In this paper, a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is carried out with respect to the anaerobic digestion and the related biogas use in a cogenerative internal combustion engine, integrated with a sanitary landfill for final waste disposal. The novelty stands in the application of the LCA methodology for a new-built integrated system when policies of recovery and re-use are sought. Energy and mass flows related to this system have been implemented in Simapro 9.1.1.7. The entire environmental footprint of the system has been calculated with different LCA analyses, each one representing a specific aspect of the system (material and energy use, uncertainties, sensitivity). The outcome clearly depicts the benefits provided by the compost obtained from organic waste, as well as the energy and fuel savings brought by cogenerative solutions.","PeriodicalId":187362,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Renewable Energies and Smart Technologies (REST)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124883752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
