In hostile environments, there may be malicious attacks to mislead the location estimation of target nodes. In this paper, we propose a novel secured localization method by applying cooperative semi-definite programming (SDP) algorithm. We also introduce residual normalization to improve the SDP approximation. Cooperation enhances the capability to identify the compromised anchors and the accuracy of location estimation. SDP improves the reliability of the algorithm and the out-of-convex-hull performance. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the aforementioned improvements.","PeriodicalId":18720,"journal":{"name":"MILCOM 2012 - 2012 IEEE Military Communications Conference","volume":"39 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86240110","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most previous works only considered real-time packets in the network rather than a co-existence of real-time and non-realtime traffic. For the works considering non-realtime traffic, usually absolute priority is given to real-time packets that the QoS of non-realtime ones cannot be guaranteed. In this paper, we propose a dynamic spectrum allocation scheme based on Earliest Deadline First (EDF) scheduling mechanism to preserve the QoS of both kinds of traffic in cellular cognitive radio networks. Simulation results demonstrate that the new algorithm has a similar throughput as the priority queue algorithm but achieves better balance in the average delay and deadline missing rate between the two types of packets.","PeriodicalId":18720,"journal":{"name":"MILCOM 2012 - 2012 IEEE Military Communications Conference","volume":"196 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91506973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We model the signal transmission-reception taking into account the effects of both the frequency response of the antenna system and the frequency selectivity of the multipath channel. We derive an expression for the bit error rate (BER) when detection is achieved using a pair of passband filters. While other low complexity binary receivers reported in the literature present a large signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) degradation with respect to the binary coherent detection, using our signal design and filter-based detection the loss with respect to the binary coherent detection is only 3.5 dB using a binary receiver with no channel estimation.","PeriodicalId":18720,"journal":{"name":"MILCOM 2012 - 2012 IEEE Military Communications Conference","volume":"53 4","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91507206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We assume that the noise samples are independent and identically distributed (i.i.d) random variables all with unknown (imperfect) variance. Our detection algorithm employ the following three steps. First, we formulate the test statistics as a ratio of two quadratic cyclic autocorrelation functions. Second, we derive a closed form expression for the false alarm probability. Third, we evaluate the detection probability of our algorithm for a given false alarm probability. The derived probability of false alarm expression fits to that of the simulation result. Moreover, we demonstrate that the proposed multi-cycle algorithm yields significantly superior probability of detection compared to the existing low complexity cyclostationary based and the well known energy detection algorithms.","PeriodicalId":18720,"journal":{"name":"MILCOM 2012 - 2012 IEEE Military Communications Conference","volume":"11 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91382482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the prime motivations was to reduce the costs associated with operating the relatively large number of different proprietary IP modems with similar performance and capabilities, performing similar functions, which are inefficiently consuming precious Military Satellite Communication (MILSATCOM) bandwidth. In March 2010, the Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) organization released DVB Document A155-1 in support of Second Generation DVB Interactive Satellite System (DVB-RCS2), with a similar objective brought forth by commercial satellite operators to reduce equipment costs by promoting economies of scale and increased interoperable solutions among IP modem vendors, while also lowering operational costs through increases in power and bandwidth efficiencies. Recently, the commercial market has started to express a need for transmission security (TRANSEC), which DVB-RCS2 aims to provide through a more effective and interoperable TRANSEC capability. The JIPM Interoperability Document was released in September 2010 through a Request for Information (RFI) to the IP modem industry. As a result of this exercise, the JIPM PMO has recognized an increased acceptance by the commercial industry in support of DVB-RCS2. This paper will evaluate the potential impacts of transitioning JIPM to DVB-RCS2, including an assessment as to whether DVB-RCS2 meets the objectives of the JIPM PMO1.","PeriodicalId":18720,"journal":{"name":"MILCOM 2012 - 2012 IEEE Military Communications Conference","volume":"140 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83423546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We discuss stability improvements to such relay set election by adding a “resistance to change” weighting factor to help reduce change in election results. In particular, we examine a proposed extension to the Essential Connected Dominating Set (ECDS) algorithm that has been specified for use by both present mobile ad hoc network unicast and multicast protocols. We demonstrate temporal stability improvements in the ECDS relay set membership that can be achieved with a simple modification to the election algorithm. Our results are particularly important when dealing with frequently changing election metrics represented in the priority field such as density or link quality as a weight metric. By using several mobile models of networks undergoing link quality fluctuations we demonstrate significant improvements in stability of the backbone set. Our results also indicate that we can maintain good stability results while maintaining a small relay set membership size as compared to the unmodified algorithm.","PeriodicalId":18720,"journal":{"name":"MILCOM 2012 - 2012 IEEE Military Communications Conference","volume":"97 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80819575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed approach adaptively increases the transmission data rate within a limited transmission range in the battlefield. By exploiting a new code set as a spreading code and by adopting code selection, the system is easily able to achieve higher spectral efficiency. For additional performance enhancement, we apply adaptive channel coding with PCCSK, and we derive the appropriate code pairs. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to show the transmission ranges of the proposed scheme, and the results show that PCCSK with adaptive coding can support a higher data rate with a reasonable transmission range.","PeriodicalId":18720,"journal":{"name":"MILCOM 2012 - 2012 IEEE Military Communications Conference","volume":"25 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87446063","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Low transmission power and simple communication protocol are significant obstacles for ULPSN to operate in the open spectrum. The DSA has been researched to solve this problem by assuming that coexisting systems can perfectly detect each other. However, this assumption is limited for ULPSN because detection of ULPSN in coexisting system is difficult due to sensitivity limitation of spectrum sensing. As a result, available spectrum is more scarce for ULP system than other coexisting systems. Thus, we derive a new Markov chain model of open spectrum access. Based on the Markov chain mode, we design a DSA scheme to maximize the energy efficiency and investigate the channel access and switch policy of the proposed DSA within the framework of partially observable Markov decision process (POMDP). The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed DSA scheme yields improved energy efficiency and lifetime compared to a random channel selection for ULPSN.","PeriodicalId":18720,"journal":{"name":"MILCOM 2012 - 2012 IEEE Military Communications Conference","volume":"13 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85276008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the presented proposal, multiple users could share a single optical wireless channel, transmitting coded information for defense mobile applications.
