The volume, variety, velocity, verification and value of data raise the necessity of managing information with the most sophisticated linguistic and computational architectures, which are able to approach the semantic dimension of words and sentences. The present paper introduces ABC, A knowledge Based Collaborative framework that consists in a double-faced system aiming to support clinical processes in a more effective way (diagnostics and therapy). All the ABC's area of intervention (improving security from clinical risk, enhancing services' quality/results and perfecting the effects of the spending management) help to make hospitals more compliant with national and international laws and observant of many standards. ABC is intended as way to perform auto-diagnoses of the safety and the quality in hospitals, so the medical staff is always prepared to successfully overcome authorities' inspections; it must not be viewed as a supervisory control instrument. Moreover, ABC guarantees protection from every illegal use of sensitive data regarding patients and health users.","PeriodicalId":187166,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 1st International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry Leveraging a better tomorrow (RTSI)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125212024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Actually, only part of this information is necessary; a remarkable simplification can be obtained by considering only the relevant information. For this scope, a method was recently proposed based on the concept of Load Area, a group of prosumers whose power injection has a similar impact on the distribution grid operating conditions. In this paper, the method previously developed for a generic distribution system is applied to a radial distribution system to obtain its equivalent radial representation; for it, the computational times for the power-flow problem are shown. The results confirm the viability of the method and the reduction of computational time for the ubiquitous power-flow problem.","PeriodicalId":187166,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 1st International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry Leveraging a better tomorrow (RTSI)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129963549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The management of the DERs requires improvement in control of distribution grid, which can take the advantage of ICT technologies. In literature, the integration of communication infrastructure, distributed control and distribution grid is called Smart Grid (SG). However, an optimal grid management should take into account the behavior of the customers, which are playing a more and more active role in the distribution grid. An abstraction layer is required to simplify the management of each active customer. The Energy Management System (EMS) of Smart Building provides this abstraction layer, by means of which is possible to schedule energy consumption and generation. In the paper, the Internet of Thing (IoT) approach has been applied in the deployment of an Energy Management System (EMS), designed for monitoring and supervise the distribution grid of the campus of the University of Brescia. This approach is able to provide the required flexibility, since new services can be easily implemented over the deployed framework. Preliminary results are showing the integration of a meteorological station within the system with services suitable both for humans as well as machines interactions opening the opportunity of new, independent applications.","PeriodicalId":187166,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 1st International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry Leveraging a better tomorrow (RTSI)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134134132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At this purpose, a life cycle assessment study must be undertaken, broadening the WEATool's investigations also to the Beginning Of Life phase, which includes the design, the extraction of materials, their processing and the assembly of the machine, and the End of Life, which concerns disassembly and potential recycling of components. To better evaluate production and disposal phases of the machinery, the MEErP tool (Methodology for the Eco-design of Energy-related Products) was introduced. Since energy is not the only relevant value, to verify that white'R satisfies the objectives set, the WEATool provides some more data such as the time cycle and the unit production cost. All those indicators are identified as KPIs, \"Key Performance Indicators\", very significant parameters that describe the economic, technical and environmental characteristics of the robotic island. At this phase of the project, the WEATool provides guidelines for manufacturing partners such as decision-making instrument, by picking best technical choices like the identification of materials or the size of the robotic island. When the prototype will be ready to work, a campaign of measurements will be made by populating databases with real measured values, in order to develop logical optimization scenarios identifying the most economically efficient and environmentally sustainable solutions. Finally, after results validation, the calculated KPIs will be used to submit the request for a green label.","PeriodicalId":187166,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 1st International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry Leveraging a better tomorrow (RTSI)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131477430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we present and describe more than 20 available datasets covering different domains such as movies, books, music etc. Each dataset is described over a number of attributes such as size, domain, format of the data, type of access. Unfortunately we did not find any information about the quality of the data contained, that remains an open issue. We also refer to examples from the literature about using the datasets to evaluate recommendation algorithms or solutions. Overall aim of the paper is to offer a convenient resource for finding and selecting datasets as a support for the empirical evaluation of recommendation algorithms and techniques.","PeriodicalId":187166,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 1st International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry Leveraging a better tomorrow (RTSI)","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115712228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed procedure is based on an algorithm recently published in the scientific literature, called TWLS-DC(1) algorithm in the paper. The procedure, called TWLS-DC(2) algorithm, requires two iterations. In the first one the parameters of the decaying dc offset are estimated by using the TWLS-DC(1) algorithm. In the second iteration the estimated dc offset is removed from the original signal and the synchrophasor parameters are then estimated by applying the TWLS-DC(1) algorithm to the obtained waveform. The accuracies of both the TWLS-DC(1) and TWLS-DC(2) algorithms are compared each other by means of computer simulations under several steady-state and dynamic conditions specified in the IEEE Standard C37.118.1-2011 for synchrophasor measurements for power systems.","PeriodicalId":187166,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 1st International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry Leveraging a better tomorrow (RTSI)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115088462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to reduce the complexity of the network configuration, administrators have leveraged network policies, introducing hence new possibility of error. Indeed, erroneous and unexpected network behaviour (e.g., security flaws) can derive from the wrong network policy definition, but also from the possible anomalies among policies of different domains. This paper presents a formal model for detecting inter- and intra-domain policy anomalies. Policy anomalies allow administrators to identify all the network behaviours they consider erroneous or to be monitored. To validate the generality of the proposed solution, the model has been applied to three policy domains (packet filtering, communication protection and service function chaining) and the impact of an anomaly detection analysis was tested in different sized networks.","PeriodicalId":187166,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 1st International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry Leveraging a better tomorrow (RTSI)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127448994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Being able of rapidly provide various configurations of products in response to customers requests is an important asset in the nowadays competition. Nevertheless, most of the automation software for special machines is built in a monolithic way which does not support rapid reconfigurability to reflect hardware modifications. This paper proposes a modular and reconfigurable approach to software development for the automation to support rapid reconfigurations of the software. The designed strategy consists in a seamless replication of the hardware modularization within the software to allow software generation by assembling pre-built pieces of software. The approach is presented and then applied to a real manufacturing machine.","PeriodicalId":187166,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 1st International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry Leveraging a better tomorrow (RTSI)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129086742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We focus on the IEEE 802.15.4 MAC protocol, which has been widely adopted for a variety of Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) applications. IEEE 802.15.4 defines a node synchronization strategy using beacons for achieving robust and real-time capable low energy communication within the WPAN. However, problems arise when there are many co-located networks within the same transmission area. This problem has been identified in the literature considering the many possible configuration options for the protocols' superframe structure. In this paper, we propose a novel scheme that enables WPANs to overhear beacon information from neighboring networks in order to mitigate interference by adjusting the beacon transmission time. We analyzed the scheme in an extensive set of simulations and can confirm its ability to overcome a majority of the collision-prone situations.","PeriodicalId":187166,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 1st International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry Leveraging a better tomorrow (RTSI)","volume":"177 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129146665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
