Radar signals recorded using analogue or digital devices are not immune to noise. Random or white noise with no coherency is mainly produced in the form of random electrons, and caused by heat, environment, and stray circuitry loses. These factors influence the output signal voltage, thus creating detectable noise. Differential Evolution (DE) is an effectual, competent, and robust optimisation method used to solve different problems in the engineering and scientific domains, such as in signal processing. This paper looks at the feasibility of using the differential evolution algorithm to estimate the linear frequency modulation received signal parameters for radar signal denoising. The results gave high target recognition and showed feasibility to denoise received signals.","PeriodicalId":187090,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International RF and Microwave Conference (RFM)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128519895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The slot has been arranged radially to create a concentration of wave into a single point. A slot implemented in RLSA is a rectangular aperture type. Most of the researchers in this field used 1mm slot width with half wavelength on the slot length. From the theory, the wider slot width will allow more current flow thus enhanced the antenna performance. This research is studying the effect of slot width to the Radial Line Slot Array Antenna (RLSA). From the simulation and measurement, it is found that the slot width has improved 1dBi gain, 9dB back lobe ratio and the shape of radiation pattern shape.","PeriodicalId":187090,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International RF and Microwave Conference (RFM)","volume":"256 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117332867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the topology, two identical coupledlines are cascaded in series and duplicated in parallel. There are then ended with another two identical coupled-lines. The dual-path structure exhibits a 2nd order dual-band response with three transmission zeros that separate the passbands from each other, and from the rejection band. The odd- and even-mode impedances of the coupled-lines control the bandwidth, passband and out-of-band responses of the dual-band filter. Finally, to verify the concept, a prototype of a dual-band bandpass filter is designed using EM simulator, fabricated on 1.6-mm-thick FR-4 substrate and measured. The resonant frequencies of the two passbands are centered at 1.82 GHz and 2.38 GHz.","PeriodicalId":187090,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International RF and Microwave Conference (RFM)","volume":"516 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132996047","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A cross-sectional study was conducted on 141 physically healthy participants. The body radiation frequencies were measured using RFI frequency counter at the frontal region. Participants were then required to complete the three validated questionnaires that served as the gold standard of stress i.e. Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10), General Health Questionnaire 12 (GHQ-12) and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). Scatter plots and Pearson Correlation analysis were done to find any associations between the body radiation frequencies and the total scores of the questionnaires. The results from this study showed that there were weak correlations between body radiation frequencies at frontal region with K10, HADS-Anxiety, HADS-Depression and GHQ-12. These findings suggest that RFI frequency counter has a potential to be used as a screening tool in detecting psychological stress.","PeriodicalId":187090,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International RF and Microwave Conference (RFM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115504293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mobility prediction is a technique to identify future targeted base station in advance, to reduce handover latency, and finally to enhance handover performance in wireless networks. In this paper, mobility prediction via Markov Chains with an input of user's mobility history is proposed as a technique to predict the user's movement in femtocells deployment. The results show that our proposed method predicts better when random data is 50% and above compared to the existing method. We had also analysed the effect of unavailable base station to the accuracy of the prediction in our proposed method. From the analysis, it is found that, the length of time collecting the data for the database effect the prediction accuracy in certain duration.","PeriodicalId":187090,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International RF and Microwave Conference (RFM)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129224203","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The technique requires two consecutive simulation steps, where the stored data from the first simulation can be repeatedly used in the second simulation domain. This offers fast parametric study involving the feed structure to study its effect on overall antenna performance. Based on this study, antenna gain could drop by more than 1 dB if the feed position shifted > 0.5λ0 from the reflector's focal point. The blockage due to feed structure does not significantly affect the radiation pattern performance for parabolic reflector system. However, for spherical reflector, the blockage effect is much notable.","PeriodicalId":187090,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International RF and Microwave Conference (RFM)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121340016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With properly adjusting the phase delay, biasing, and modulation index, an optical mmW signal at 60-GHz with an Optical Sideband Suppression Ratio (OSSR) up to 28 dB is obtained through simulation. The Radio Frequency Spurious Suppression Ratio (RFSSRR) is 32.2 dB. Furthermore, the impact of non-ideal MZM on RFSSRR is studied through simulation.
