Informal caregivers of stroke survivors are primarily involved in providing care and assistance and may face musculoskeletal problems. Objectives: This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain (MSP) and associated factors among informal caregivers of stroke survivors in northwestern Nigeria. Methods: This was a hospital-based cross-sectional study performed among 218 informal caregivers of stroke survivors. Data on sociodemographic characteristics, nature of caregiving, and duration of caregiving were collected using researcher-designed data forms. A 12-month prevalence of MSP in different body regions was obtained using the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data at an alpha level of 0.05. Results: The majority of the caregivers were female (60.6%) within the age range of 18 - 27 years old (50.9%) and engaged in full-time caregiving (63.8%). The overall prevalence of MSP among the caregivers was 16.5%. The most common MSP was low back pain (28%) and was found to be associated with age, gender, body mass index (BMI), marital status, educational level, occupational status, duration of caregiving, and nature of caregiving (all P","PeriodicalId":18693,"journal":{"name":"Modern Care Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83054023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the knowledge, attitude, and practice of female high school students in Birjand, Iran, regarding sun protection behaviors and investigate the effect of various environmental and demographic factors. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on female high school students in Birjand within October to January 2018 using the stratified cluster random sampling method. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire containing various items related to knowledge, attitude, and practice, the validity of which was confirmed. Information was also obtained on the geographical location of the school, field of study, grade, grade point average, and parents’ educational level. The data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 22) based on descriptive-analytical analyses. Results: Out of a total of 576 students, 26.7%, 89.1%, and 53.6% had good knowledge, attitude, and practice of skin protection against ultraviolet rays. The practice scores of southern and western school students with better socioeconomic status were higher than in other geographic regions (P < 0.001). The students in experimental sciences had higher knowledge (P = 0.01), and students in humanities had a higher attitude (P = 0.03) and practice (P = 0.007) than the other two disciplines. The third-grade students scored higher on knowledge (P < 0.001). The students whose mothers had university education scored higher in knowledge, attitude, and practice. Moreover, those whose fathers had a university education scored higher in practice. Knowledge and attitude had a significant relationship with practice; attitude had a higher coefficient. Conclusions: Practice can be improved by increasing the levels of knowledge and attitude. The educational level of the parents, especially mothers, is very important in this regard.","PeriodicalId":18693,"journal":{"name":"Modern Care Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85798917","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to describe a case of the absent right renal vein with drainage from the upper pole of the kidney into the right suprarenal vein and then into the ipsilateral gonadal vein. Case Presentation: A 25-year-old female patient with abdominal pain was referred to the radiology clinic for abdominopelvic computed tomography (CT) with oral and intravenous contrast. On CT images, the right renal vein was absent. The drainage of the right kidney was through the upper pole to the suprarenal vein and thereafter to the right gonadal vein and the inferior vena cava (IVC). Some suprarenal veins were drained to the superior mesenteric vein via collaterals. The IVC diameter, especially the intrahepatic portion, was decreased. Conclusions: The absence of the right renal vein is very rare, and to the best of our knowledge, drainage from the upper pole into the ipsilateral gonadal vein has not been previously reported in the literature.","PeriodicalId":18693,"journal":{"name":"Modern Care Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83576151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The marginalized community, especially drug users, probably suffer from greater psychosocial burden. Objectives: The current study aimed to predict COVID-19-induced anxiety based on attachment styles, resilience, and life expectancy in drug users. Methods: The present study is correlational descriptive-analytical research. The statistical population of this study included all drug users in 2021 who were in the process of abstaining from substance use and attended narcotics anonymous (NA) sessions in Bojnurd. In total, 134 addicts were selected based on the available sampling method. For data collection, the Corona Disease Anxiety Scale (CDAS) by Alipour et al., Attachment Styles Questionnaire (AAQ) by Hazen and Shaver, Resilience Scale by Davidson, and Miller Hope Scale (MHS) were used. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise regression using SPSS 18. Results: As hypothesized, COVID-19-induced anxiety was predicted based on attachment styles, resilience, and life expectancy. Multiple correlation coefficient (0.87) was found between independent variables (attachment styles, resilience, and life expectancy) and COVID-19-induced variable, and attachment styles, resilience, and life expectancy could predict 76% (R2) of COVID-19-induced anxiety changes. Conclusions: COVID-19 and addiction are two epidemic and overlapping diseases and cause a serious threat to public health. According to the findings of this study, in order to prevent COVID-19-induced anxiety in drug users, it is necessary to consider their attachment styles, resilience, and life expectancy.","PeriodicalId":18693,"journal":{"name":"Modern Care Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86653458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Patients having cancer have to combat their illness and its complications, but they also have to suffer a list of side effects due to chemotherapy. This article is written to suggest a list of nutritional considerations for chemotherapeutic patients at this stage of the COVID-19 pandemic to enhance their immune system. Since nutrition has a decisive role in immune response, specifically in immuno-suppressed patients, such as those undergoing chemotherapy. Due to the complexity of designing a diet for the mentioned patients, we recommend a balanced and varied diet in the COVID-19 pandemic, including zinc, omega-3, vitamin D, whole grains, and skimmed dairy, which were discussed in great detail in the article.","PeriodicalId":18693,"journal":{"name":"Modern Care Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89832963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the factors affecting the quality of life (QoL) and longevity of patients is social support. Social support reduces the effects of stress and calls for effective coping responses in the face of illness. Patients behave better if they have social support. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the QoL and perceived social support in patients with improved COVID-19 in Birjand, Iran, in 2020. Methods: Using the available sampling method, the participants of this descriptive-analytical study were selected from the list of patients in the health center. A total of 100 patients with improved COVID-19 were included. Data were collected using the demographic information, the Perceived Social Support (PSS) Questionnaire (Kanti-Michel and Zimmet 2000), and WHOQOL-BREF Questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive and analytical tests (one-way analysis of variance and correlation test) using SPSS version 22 at a significance level of P < 0.05. Results: The mean age of participants was 50.08 ± 9.63 years and 44% of the samples were male. The mean score of perceived social support was 52.15 ± 7.62 (out of 60), and the mean QoL score was 86.63 ± 16.72 (out of 100). Also, there was a significant relationship between perceived social support and QoL (P = 0.03, r = 0.21). Conclusions: Our findings showed a significant relationship between perceived social support and QoL. Thus, implementation of interventions to promote perceived social support and QoL by the governments, health care workers, family, and friends is essential.","PeriodicalId":18693,"journal":{"name":"Modern Care Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78569290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It seems very important to identify the problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic accurately. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate behavioral changes in children due to the COVID-19 pandemic in South Khorasan in 2021. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 312 children were studied. Inclusion criteria included all children under 12 years of age without apparent mental disorders and chronic diseases affecting behavioral changes. Exclusion criteria were parental separation, experiencing natural disasters in the last two years, losing a first-degree family member in the last two years, and any underlying disease in the child and first-degree family members. The questionnaires included a demographic questionnaire and the Ruther Children's Behavior Questionnaire, completed by parents online due to the COVID-19 epidemic and the new situation. Results: The results showed that the behavioral disorder prevalence was 37.2% (n = 116). The mean scores were 3.10 ± 2.23 for aggression-hyperactivity, 3.11 ± 3.08 for anxiety-depression, 2.65 ± 1.79 for social maladaptation, 2.34 ± 1.83 for antisocial behavior, and 1.59 ± 1.29 for attention deficit. There was no significant relationship between demographic indicators and behavioral disorders (P > 0.05).
