As future leaders and officers on commercial ships, they are expected to have strong personalities, be disciplined, be responsible, have high integrity, and be able to work together in a team. Based on this issue, this research aims to analyze the effect of nurturing programs, boarding schools, and social media on the character-building of Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran (PIP) Semarang cadets. This research used a quantitative method with respondents PIP Semarang cadets from the Nautical Studies, Marine Engineering, and Port and Shipping Management Study Program with a sample of 200 cadets. Sampling was conducted using a questionnaire via Google Form with a Likert scale of 1 to 4. Data obtained from the questionnaire were analyzed using the SPSS 21st version program. The results of this research show that the nurturing program has a very significant influence on the character-building of cadets. Thus, if the nurturing program can be implemented well and correctly according to established norms and regulations, the character of the cadets will be built well and meet the expectations of PIP Semarang. In addition, the boarding school system has a significant influence on the character-building of cadets. A well-built Boarding School system will assist in shaping the characters of PIP Semarang cadets. Lastly, the use of social media does not significantly influence cadets' character-building since there is a regulation related to the limitation of the use of communication devices and the internet.","PeriodicalId":186902,"journal":{"name":"Applied Quantitative Analysis","volume":" 27","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141824993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Student habits in carrying out tasks reflected in personal character will impact student learning achievement. However, the positive character does not always influence learning achievement. Other factors that can weaken the role of positive character in academic achievement include family function. This research examines the moderating role of family function in determining the strength of the influence of positive character on student academic achievement. The 201 students majoring in natural sciences selected using stratified random sampling were involved in this explanatory quantitative research. Researchers employed the family function, the noble character scales, and the student cumulative achievement index. Data analysis used the Jamovi statistical software moderation test version 2.0.0. The results show that family function determines the magnitude of the influence of positive character on academic achievement. For students with high family function, character determines significantly academic achievement. On the contrary, for students with low family function. The study is beneficial for educational counsellors in overcoming the problem of low academic achievement by focusing on developing character and improving family function.","PeriodicalId":186902,"journal":{"name":"Applied Quantitative Analysis","volume":"34 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141653693","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using Covariance-Based and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM and PLS-SEM), it examines the causal links between review credibility, review quality, and consumer purchase intention. Conducted among 555 randomly selected online consumers from Metro Manila, Philippines, the study employed questionnaires with rating scales to gather data. Confirmatory factor analysis was utilized to assess model fit, reliability, and validity, while structural model and path analysis were applied to investigate the links between variables. The findings reveal that the structural model exhibits a moderate fit with the empirical data, demonstrating acceptable reliability and validity levels. Online review credibility was found to have a positive and direct impact on consumer purchase intention. Review quality was identified as a partial mediator in the relationship between review credibility and purchase intention, suggesting that it indirectly influences this dynamic. These implications suggest that e-commerce companies should emphasize the credibility of online product reviews by introducing guidelines to reduce the prevalence of misleading reviews. The accuracy and completeness of reviews, as determinants of review quality, should be prioritized to influence consumer decisions effectively. The study recommends that marketing strategies include incentives for customers to write honest and thorough reviews, thereby enhancing the overall quality of online product reviews. For future research, a qualitative or mixed-method approach is suggested to provide deeper insights, along with longitudinal studies to examine these effects over time.","PeriodicalId":186902,"journal":{"name":"Applied Quantitative Analysis","volume":" 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140683629","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adequate cash holdings can lead to higher profits and financial flexibility, allowing companies to take advantage of opportunities. Therefore, the real estate and property sector requires optimal liquidity holdings to avoid losing investment opportunities and achieve organizational goals. This study examines the effect of controlling share ownership and profitability on cash holdings in the corporate sector. Our samples are the real estate and property sub-sector from 2018 to 2021. The study uses quantitative methods with an archival technique from a capital market database. We performed multiple linear regression to test our hypotheses. The findings show that controlling share ownership has a significant influence on cash holdings. However, the profitability impact on cash holding is not supported. This study employed a descriptive-correlational design to determine the correlation between the two variables under consideration. A stratified proportionate random sampling technique was used to determine the sample from the population of learners, and the number of samples was established using the Cochran formula. The study utilized a researcher-made questionnaire to measure the learners’ readiness level and mathematics performance and was verified by a pool of experts in the field. The questionnaire on readiness focused on measuring students’ cognitive, social, physical, and emotional aspects. The gathered data were evaluated using frequency count and percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson r, and hierarchical multiple regression. Based on the findings, it showed that learners’ levels of cognitive, social, and physical readiness were high but only moderate emotionally. Nonetheless, students' mathematics performance was poor because the computed mean fell within a low range. Thus, findings revealed that there was a strong and positive correlation between students' readiness and mathematics performance, with a p-value of .007, which rejected the hypothesis. However, the findings revealed that there was no substantial moderating influence on the profile of learners' mathematics performance in relation to their readiness with a p-value greater than .01. In light of this, a learner's level of preparedness in terms of cognitive, social, emotional, and physical factors may have an impact on how well they perform mathematically. \u0000","PeriodicalId":186902,"journal":{"name":"Applied Quantitative Analysis","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116943989","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
