Video has to be segmented into objects for content-based processing. A number of video object segmentation algorithms have been proposed such as semiautomatic and automatic. Semiautomatic methods adds burden to users and also not suitable for some applications. Automatic segmentation systems are still a challenge, although they are required by many applications. The proposed work aims at contributing to identify the gaps that are present in the current segmentation system and also to give the possible solutions to overcome those gaps so that the accurate and efficient video segmentation system can be developed.","PeriodicalId":186188,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Nascent Technologies in the Engineering Field (ICNTE)","volume":"307 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124371859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It employs the simplest version of Integer Wavelet Transform (IWT) for signal decomposition (analysis) which makes it suitable for real-time and cost effective personal health care assistance devices. The computational, memory and consumption resources of low-complexity embedded systems is surpassed by the biomedical wavelet based applications presented so far. To facilitate such systems capable of using wavelet transform, optimization and implementation technique of wavelet transform is proposed in this paper. Its performance evaluation is also carried out with an existing optimized wavelet transform in other platform. By evaluation of the results obtained it may be noted that the proposed technique deliver insignificant degradation in terms of decomposition (analysis) of the given biomedical signal. The proposed technique is also suitable for wavelet based Biomedical signal processing methods like signal denoising and ECG QRS complex detection, etc.","PeriodicalId":186188,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Nascent Technologies in the Engineering Field (ICNTE)","volume":"217 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131788485","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One particular subsection of nanotechnology can be distinguished as nano structured materials i.e., materials in which certain elements of material structure exist at their nano scale. Generally nanotechnology deals with structures sized between 1 to 100 nanometer in at least one dimension, and involve developing or modifying materials or devices within that size. Nano materials have high surface to volume ratio, which make it more chemically reactive resulting properties like heat resistance and unique electronic, magnetic, optical and catalytic properties. The advancements in nanotechnology have an impact almost in all fields such as materials, instrumentation, electronics, healthcare, defense, sensors, energy, manufacturing and environments. The other major technological areas of nano metal oxides and their composites are in advanced composite materials, catalysts, high energy batteries, automobile and aerospace components, optical devices, radiation shielding and energetic materials. The application of nanotechnology in refractory material is very limited. In the author's laboratory, nano TiO2, ZrO2 and MgO have been prepared by spray pyrolyser route. These nano materials have been used in refractory composition. Incorporation of nano materials improves the corrosion, erosion & high temperature mechanical properties of refractory bricks.","PeriodicalId":186188,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Nascent Technologies in the Engineering Field (ICNTE)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133914073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system determines the actual rotor position of the motor at standstill and provides appropriate starting pulses to inverter switches to turn on. Once the motor starts to rotate, it then directly extracts the back EMF from the motor terminals between the floating phase and the mid-point of DC link. Inductance variation sensing method is used for estimating the initial rotor position of the motor followed by a sensorless operation by back EMF sensing method. The principle behind the rotor position estimation is detection and comparison of phase voltage and dc link current responses and relating it with the stator inductances. The most advantage of this method is that it requires only three voltage pulse injections of small duration for the estimation of rotor position. A resolution of 30° can be achieved. The effectiveness of the method is validated by simulation results in Matlab Simulink platform.","PeriodicalId":186188,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Nascent Technologies in the Engineering Field (ICNTE)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126674095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The enormous usage of internet has greatly affected the security of the system. Hackers do monitor the system minutely or keenly, therefore the security of the network is under observation. A conventional intrusion detection technology indicates more limitation like low detection rate, high false alarm rate and so on. Performance of the classifier is an essential concern in terms of its effectiveness; also number of feature to be examined by the IDS should be improved. In our work, we have proposed two techniques, C4.5 Decision tree algorithm and C4.5 Decision tree with Pruning, using feature selection. In C4.5 Decision tree with pruning we have considered only discrete value attributes for classification. We have used KDDCup'99 and NSL_KDD dataset to train and test the classifier. The Experimental Result shows that, C4.5 decision tree with pruning approach is giving better results with all most 98% of accuracy.","PeriodicalId":186188,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Nascent Technologies in the Engineering Field (ICNTE)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133215356","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mechanism offers a relative motion between rigid links via joints. Conventionally these joints are pin, sliding, rolling, liquid film etc. These joints have inherent nonlinear frictional characteristics which are creating difficulty in control micro-nano positioning in precision mechanisms. To achieve high resolution and precision problems of friction, backlash in mechanism needs to be removed. These joints are replaced by flexible elements such as flexural hinge, flexural links which offers advantage of frictionless and smooth motion. Flexural mechanisms are developed using basic building blocks such as hinges and planar type. Flexural building blocks should be such that it offers lesser / zero resistance to motion in desired direction and maximum / infinite resistance in orthogonal direction. Motion generated in orthogonal direction is called parasitic motion. Double Flexural Manipulator (DFM) is a planar type building block which offers theoretically zero parasitic error motion with negligible amount of rotation of motion stage. This article presents design, development, system integration, system identification and PID control implementation on DFM. Developed flexural stage is integrated with desktop PC via dSPACE micro-controller. System identification (Static and Dynamic) is carried out and performance parameters such as stiffness, natural frequency, damping characteristics and frequency characterization of DFM are estimated and validated via due experimentations. Estimated transfer function of DFM is further used for development of control system, and PID control parameters are tuned. Real time PID implementation gives a position accuracy of few microns at high scanning speed of 2.5 mm/s.","PeriodicalId":186188,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Nascent Technologies in the Engineering Field (ICNTE)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133764600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The liking goes to such an extent that people even end up having games of cricket on their computers. In this paper we discuss about the development of a cricket game, Cricket Strategy Game. This is a special game, different from others, as it is one focusing on the strategizing, managing, and captaining aspects of cricket. There are many games that simulate a real game of cricket, but a game that simulates the role of a captain, manager or director in the sport of cricket are rarely found. Hence we present the Cricket Strategy Game in this paper. The game is developed using C++ programming language and many exciting concepts such as random number generation phenomenon, file handling, and few concepts of cricket are mixed proportionately to develop this game and make it interesting for its users and players. The random numbers generated are cleverly assigned values to vary according to the inputs of the user, thus making the game a very dynamic and filled with astonishment. Through this game we successfully simulate the real life role of a cricket team captain or manager or director. The players will feel the exact feeling that the captain feels in a match scenario. The game has been designed in such a way, and the technology and concepts are used so effectively, to develop this Cricket Strategy Game in a way that the users will find it really simulating and real-life like.","PeriodicalId":186188,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Nascent Technologies in the Engineering Field (ICNTE)","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131730070","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By furnishing Flexible AC Transmission System devices in the transmission system, the power control can be finely achieved. The paper describes Optimal Reactive Power Dispatch for the power loss minimisation using optimal location of Unified Power Flow Controller for loss minimisation. The power flow is first solved by Newton Raphson method without implementing or furnishing Unified Power Flow Controller and then by furnishing them randomly in the IEEE -30 bus system. Unified Power Flow Controller allows control of real and reactive power both in addition to voltage magnitude control at various buses. In this paper, optimal reactive power dispatch is applied using the hybrid GA -PSO. Simulations are performed on IEEE-30 bus test system using MATLAB software package to ensure efficacy of the proposed algorithm.
