In view of this, this study investigated the role of sustainability reporting in bridging the stakeholders’ expectation gaps in Nigeria. The study adopted cross sectional survey research design, and used online structured questionnaire to collect primary data. 150 copies of questionnaire were distributed, out of which 138 copies were returned. Data obtained from the respondent were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The regression result from hypothesis one revealed that sustainability reporting practices has significant role in improving the disclosure of information regarding business activities in Nigeria (Adj. R2 =0.545; F = 58. 176; p =0.001<0.05 ), while that of hypothesis two showed that sustainability reporting practices is an effective tool for effectively bridging the gaps in stakeholder expectations within Nigerian businesses ( Adj.R2 =0.565; F = 75.112; p = 0.001 <0.05 ).The regression result from hypothesis one revealed that sustainability reporting practices has significant role in improving the disclosure of information regarding business activities in Nigeria, while that of hypothesis two showed that sustainability reporting practices is an effective tool for effectively bridging the gaps in stakeholder expectations within Nigerian businesses. Hence, the study concluded that adoption of sustainability reporting can significantly strengthen the trust of the stakeholders thereby contributing to bridge their expectation’s gap. The study recommended that corporate organizations should regard sustainability reporting as a strategic instrument for promoting transparency and accountability.","PeriodicalId":186110,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Business and Innovation Research","volume":"12 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140507558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study adopted an ex-post facto research design, covering the period between 1990 and 2022. Secondary data were extracted from the CBN Statistical Bulletin and World Development Indicators. Multiple regression technique was used for test of hypotheses. The findings revealed a noteworthy adverse effect of oil price shocks on Nigeria's inflation rate, indicated by a probability value of 0.0180. Additionally, the impact of oil price shocks on exchange rates in Nigeria was also adverse and statistically significant, as reflected by a probability value of 0.047. Moreover, these findings align with established economic theory. The negative effect of oil price shocks on the exchange rate can be explained by the consistent devaluation of the Naira relative to the US Dollar in response to abrupt, particularly negative, changes in oil prices. The study, therefore, recommended that the government should enhance the proportion of funds allocated to the excess crude accounts relative to its revenue expenditures. By doing so, the government can build a financial cushion that can be tapped into when price shocks disrupt the crude oil market. Furthermore, it is advisable to employ contractionary monetary and fiscal policies when price shocks occur. These policies can effectively counteract excessive cost-push inflation that may result from the shocks. By reducing the overall demand in the economy through measures like higher interest rates and reduced government spending, inflationary pressures can be curbed.","PeriodicalId":186110,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Business and Innovation Research","volume":"23 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140506856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The recently announced implementation of performance appraisal system across the entire federal civil service has highlighted the need for a review of the practice of performance appraisal in the public sector given the typical political influence that permeates most organizations in the sector. Drawing upon Equity Theory, this study examines the impact of performance appraisal fairness on employee productivity in Nigerian federal regulatory agencies, with emphasis on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). A descriptive survey research design was adopted, with primary data collected from staff of NAFDAC using a five-point Likert scale model questionnaire. Correlation and regression techniques were used to analyze the data which was collected through non probability quota sampling. The result revealed that interactional, procedural and distributive fairness in performance appraisal were statistically significant and positively influenced employees’ productivity in NAFDAC. Thus, the study recommends that considering the planned implementation of performance appraisal system across the entire federal civil service, government should design performance appraisal systems that will appropriately address these constructs to improve efficiency, accountability and productivity of the public sector.","PeriodicalId":186110,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Business and Innovation Research","volume":"32 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140507437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigates stakeholder engagement practices across Nigerian government agencies to evaluate their impact on strategy implementation effectiveness. The research focuses on four key dimensions: Effective Communication, Stakeholder Inclusiveness and Diversity, Mechanisms of Stakeholder Engagement, and Stakeholder Satisfaction, specifically assessing their influence on resource allocation. Using a descriptive survey design, three pivotal government agencies INEC, the Central Bank of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission were purposively selected. Data was collected from 384 respondents, and multiple regression was used in the analysis. Findings reveal that transparent internal communication significantly influences increased resource allocation (B = 0.558, p < 0.005). Moreover, agencies incorporating diverse stakeholder input observe larger allocations to strategic priorities (B = 0.083, p = 0.005). Also, Mechanisms of stakeholder engagement (B = 0.101, p < 0.005) exhibit significant positive relationship. Equally, higher satisfaction among stakeholders correlates with greater deployment of resources (B = 0.205, p < 0.005). The study recommends that Nigerian government agencies enhance internal communication, promote inclusive stakeholder engagement, and refine resource allocation strategies. Emphasizing diverse perspectives and stakeholder satisfaction is crucial, while investments in organizational and management capacities alongside technical planning can solidify agencies' effectiveness in securing resources for proactive strategic changes.","PeriodicalId":186110,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Business and Innovation Research","volume":"5 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140508794","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study attempts to clarify the critical role that customer feedback plays in establishing service standards and is based on the growing importance of service quality in today's global hospitality market. By means of an exhaustive analysis of several aspects of customer feedback, including online reviews, referral rates, repeat customer behaviour, and complaint frequency, the research aims to identify their respective influences on the perceived quality of service. This study's theoretical foundations include Oliver's Expectation-Confirmation Theory and the SERVQUAL model. In the end, these frameworks impact customers' views of service quality by providing a theoretical basis to understand the intricate relationship between their experiences, expectations, and satisfaction levels. The present inquiry is grounded in empirical research from a variety of hospitality environments, which demonstrates the significance of customer feedback and its complex influence on service quality. One hundred customers who have used hospitality services in Akwa Ibom State are the subjects of this study, which employs a survey research design. Analyzing the data through regression analysis yields some interesting results. Greater complaint frequency and some elements of online evaluations show negative correlations; however higher recommendation rates are positively correlated with perceived service quality. It is noteworthy that the perception of service quality is not much affected by the behaviour of repeat customers. The results of this study have important ramifications for the hospitality industry in Akwa Ibom. These include the necessity of efficient complaint handling procedures, proactive tactics to encourage positive word-of-mouth, and a sensible use of online reviews. In order to connect service delivery with changing consumer demands and promote sustainable growth and development within the local hospitality industry, it proposes a paradigm change towards continuous improvement, tailored experiences, and proactive response tactics.","PeriodicalId":186110,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Business and Innovation Research","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140508225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, this study looked into how American expatriates working in Nigeria are affected by cross-cultural training. The study's specific goal was to investigate how language training and cultural sensitivity training affected American expatriates' performance in Nigeria. Survey design was used in the study. 89 American expatriates from seven American companies in Nigeria contributed data for the study. A questionnaire was chosen as the main tool for collecting first-hand information. The multiple regression analysis t-values and p-values were used to analyze the impact of independent factors on the dependent variable. The test's outcome demonstrated that cultural sensitivity and language instruction both have a major favorable impact on American expatriates' performance in Nigeria. Given the stark differences in culture between Nigeria and the United States, this study suggests that cross-cultural training is a strong predictor of American expatriates' performance in Nigeria. It is also recommended that this topic be tested in cultural contexts other than American and Nigerian in future studies.","PeriodicalId":186110,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Business and Innovation Research","volume":"40 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140508146","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the study ascertained the effect of inventory turnover, accounts receivable turnover, and cash conversion cycle on the turnover of consumer goods firms in Nigeria. The study adopted an ex-post-facto research design, covering a ten-year period (2013 to 2022). Secondary data were extracted from the annual reports and accounts of sampled FMCGs in Nigeria. Multiple regression techniques were used for test of hypotheses. The findings of the study reveal several important insights. Firstly, the analysis indicates a statistically significant negative relationship between inventory turnover and the turnover of FMCG firms in Nigeria. This is evident from the t-statistic of -2.269713 and a corresponding p-value of 0.0255. Secondly, in contrast, the study shows that accounts receivable turnover has a statistically non-significant negative impact on the turnover of FMCG firms in Nigeria. This is evidenced by a t-statistic of -0.406028 and a p-value of 0.6856. Lastly, the research demonstrates a statistically significant effect of the cash conversion cycle on the turnover of FMCG firms in Nigeria. This is supported by a t-statistic of -3.299741 and a p-value of 0.0014. The findings of the study lead to several recommendations for FMCG firms in Nigeria. Firstly, it is advised that firms enhance their demand forecasting techniques and adopt agile replenishment strategies to align with market trends and consumer preferences. Leveraging technology and data analytics can optimize inventory levels, mitigating overstocking and stockouts. Secondly, firms should tailor credit terms based on customer credit profiles, establish clear credit policies, and implement effective collections processes supported by technology. Lastly, it's recommended that firms conduct a comprehensive analysis of their operational cycle, collaborate closely with suppliers, and integrate technology to streamline processes.","PeriodicalId":186110,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Business and Innovation Research","volume":"35 2-3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140508157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of inventory management on the profitability of manufacturing sectors in Nigeria Bottling Company, Kaduna. The study is quantitative and utilizes both primary and secondary data. A survey instrument was developed to collect primary data from a sample of 100 managers and employees within the Nigeria Bottling Company, Kaduna. Additionally, secondary data was collected from annual reports and financial statements of the company. The primary data collected was analyzed using statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics and regression analysis, while the secondary data was analyzed using content analysis. This mixed-method approach allowed for a comprehensive examination of the effectiveness of inventory management on the profitability of the manufacturing sectors in the Nigeria Bottling Company, Kaduna. From the result of data analysis, the hypothesis there is a positive relationship between inventory management and prompt delivery in manufacturing sectors (Nigerian Bottling Company) Kaduna, was rejected and the alternate was accepted. The study concludes that although inventory management is a key factor in prompt service delivery, it is not the only factor. The organization must balance its operations by putting in place important management and operational policies that support service delivery. Some of which are recommended to include the implementation of advanced inventory management techniques, enhancing demand forecasting and production planning processes, among other things.","PeriodicalId":186110,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Business and Innovation Research","volume":"10 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140508300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
