A physical phenomenon has many and complex variables and assumptions, and a number of these assumptions should be ignored in order to have a simpler modeling. Generally speaking, full modeling of a natural process through evolutionary algorithms is impossible, therefore, researchers consider special requirements for the natural and biological modeling processes, and they begin modeling, considering the assumptions limits. Evolutionary algorithms for modeling, need simple conditions and assumptions, and this simplification can take away a modeling from its actual state. Firefly algorithm is one of the evolutionary algorithms that is presented on the basis of social behavior and optical pulses between the insects. Lack of sufficient breeding of fireflies is one of the drawbacks that is not considered in the algorithm, and this factor has a negative impact on the convergence of the algorithm. Unlike the firefly algorithm, the weed algorithm, is a reproduction mechanism among plants, and the number of each plant's offspring are considered in accordance with its fitness, and in this study, this mechanism is used in firefly algorithm. The results show that the proposed algorithm has better accuracy and convergence, at least in comparison with firefly and bat algorithms.","PeriodicalId":186094,"journal":{"name":"2017 18th IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Networking and Parallel/Distributed Computing (SNPD)","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124560500","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These contributions help event planners and several other stakeholders to design and prepare the conference. Convention is one of good functions to provide networking opportunity for attendees. In this paper, we clarify the characteristics of attendees whose motivation to attend conventions are networking. We show attendees' expectations to the conference for attendees, who think that the networking is important purpose to attend the conference. The number of attendee and rate of highly show-up people are important to enhance their satisfaction. Thus, we implemented a conference attendee management system and introduce it.","PeriodicalId":186094,"journal":{"name":"2017 18th IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Networking and Parallel/Distributed Computing (SNPD)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130546770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a two-step approach for pick-up hotspots searching. In the first step, a traveling similarity model is built to quantify the similarity of traveling behaviors. In the second step, we utilize affinity propagation and simulated annealing to identify the daily passenger hotspots in a selected period. Numerical results based on GPS data of Manhattan taxis suggest that the proposed approach outperforms the traditional spatio-temporal clustering regardless of buffer radius.","PeriodicalId":186094,"journal":{"name":"2017 18th IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Networking and Parallel/Distributed Computing (SNPD)","volume":"34 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130588892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Towards the practical use, the recognition of activities of daily living (ADL) is an important step. Many studies of the ADL recognition have been conducted so far, for real-life and human-centric applications such as eldercare and healthcare. However, most existing methods have limitations in deployment cost, privacy exposure, and inconvenience for residents. To cope with the limitations, this paper presents a new indoor ADL recognition system especially for OPH. To minimize the deployment cost as well as the intrusions to user and house, we exploit an IoT-based environment-sensing device, called Autonomous Sensor Box (SensorBox) which can autonomously measure 7 kinds of environment attributes. We apply machine-learning techniques to the collected data, and predicts 7 kinds of ADLs. We conduct an experiment within an actual apartment of a single user. The result shows that the proposed system achieves the average accuracy of ADL recognition with more than 88%, by carefully developing the features of environment attributes.","PeriodicalId":186094,"journal":{"name":"2017 18th IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Networking and Parallel/Distributed Computing (SNPD)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121403059","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, we can not say that they are enough suitable to assist works either that occupy hands or that are accomplished in environment with water or fire, which cause troubles with electronic devices. In this study, in order to solve this problem, we propose an assist system using projection mapping and NUI. Note that our system is not an application program, but replaces the former UI simply. Our system consists of a depth camera, an RGB camera, and a projector. It causes a click event by detecting whether a user touches the screen. By replacing the click operation with the touching on the projected screen, it can utilize various existing applications and contents.","PeriodicalId":186094,"journal":{"name":"2017 18th IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Networking and Parallel/Distributed Computing (SNPD)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133877225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is still a challenging task due to the difficulties mainly resulted from the background clutter, illumination changes, large intra-class variation and noise. In this paper, we aim to develop an action recognition approach by navigating focus of attention (action region) with saliency detection and introducing a feature descriptor, namely Histogram of Accumulated Changing Gradient Orientation (HACGO). We firstly detect saliency in each video frame by computing pattern and color distinctness to localize action region. Then, we extract appearance and motion features using proposed HACGO, and existing HOG and HOF feature descriptors. Finally, a multi-class SVM classifier is applied to recognize different actions. The experiments were conducted on the standard UCF Sports action dataset. As experimental results, our action recognition approach achieved high recognition accuracy with a new combination of feature descriptors.","PeriodicalId":186094,"journal":{"name":"2017 18th IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Networking and Parallel/Distributed Computing (SNPD)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129399703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, since the conventional services usually provide “one-for-all” information. users tend to miss important incidents within the flood of information. In this paper, we propose a new security information service, called PRISM (Personalized Real-time Information with Security Map). For given incident information and user's living area, PRISM first computes severity of the incident, based on distance, time, and type of the incident. It then visualizes the incidents with the severity on a heat map. Thus, PRISM provides real-time personalized information adapted to individual situation of users. To illustlate the feasibility, we implement PRISM as a Web application using Hyogo Bouhan Net, and Kobe city facility open data.","PeriodicalId":186094,"journal":{"name":"2017 18th IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Networking and Parallel/Distributed Computing (SNPD)","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115737891","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is known to be a good practice to install updates or upgrade versions of the software regularly to improve features, stability, and security, but often those updates and upgrades are ignored or delayed for several reasons. In addition, the new releases may come with some other vulnerabilities themselves. The motivation of this paper is to give information to computer users about the impact of software upgrade in terms of severity of the vulnerabilities that would result from the upgrade, in comparison with that of the vulnerabilities of the currently installed software. We propose a method to assess security vulnerabilities of the installed and the latest versions based on the CVSS vulnerability scoring system. Severity of vulnerabilities will be reported to suggest whether the upgrade is really needed to improve security. We also present an assessment tool that supports both personal and corporate use.","PeriodicalId":186094,"journal":{"name":"2017 18th IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Networking and Parallel/Distributed Computing (SNPD)","volume":"469 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124386058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This analysis method is used for obtaining similarity values of the body movement of various subjects. Firstly, the performing speed of movements are compared and adjusted. Next, two types of normalized methods, which are based on the Space Harmony Theory, normalize the human postures in motion data frames. Then, the direction sequences describing the motion paths are derived. After that, an improved method inspired by the dissimilarity measure of the 3D curves is used for measuring the similarity of human body movements.","PeriodicalId":186094,"journal":{"name":"2017 18th IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Networking and Parallel/Distributed Computing (SNPD)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116451954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
