With dynamic composition, published services are searched and the most appropriate services are selected and reused at runtime. Also, newly published services can be reused without changing the client programs, so it yields an opportunity for dynamic adaptation. Despite the benefits, current programming languages, SOC platforms, business process modeling languages, and tools have a limitation on supporting the full dynamic composition. Rather, they require either manual composition or static binding of available services. In this paper, we present a design of a Dynamic Composition Handler on Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). We analyze different types of service compositions to clarity what dynamic composition really holds in SOC. Then, we present a design of Dynamic Composition Handler which consists of four elements; Invocation Listener, Service Router, Service Discoverer, and Interface Adapter. Using the framework, services can be discovered, selected, composed, and adapted at runtime. Since practical dynamic composition method depends on certain standard middleware platforms, we adopt ESB for our framework. We believe that our framework enables practical dynamic composition and realizes the whole benefit of it.","PeriodicalId":184487,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'07)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132551419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

ASM-TL provides a unified way to describing service capabilities. It can describe some important factors affecting service capabilities such as internal constraints, invocation constraints and operation interactions. Moreover, ASM-TL also lays a foundation for service reasoning by providing a process model, which represents states transition, message transferring and temporal properties of a service. Thus, treating service requests as temporal conditions, service matchmaking can be done through model checking and is more adaptive to various service requests and diverse services. ASM-TL has been applied to the problem solving environment for bioinformatics research. Analysis and applications show ASM-TL is effective to enable adaptive service matchmaking.","PeriodicalId":184487,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'07)","volume":"52 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126919716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Presently, most of the Web-based applications design only consider security issue, but ignore performance problem. According to these two issues, we propose a new approach to integrate security and performance aspects for Web-based applications, called ISPWAD, which combines SWAP and RBAC frameworks. The purposes of proposed ISPWAD are to fix the security holes and improve the processing performance during in designing Web-based applications. In this paper, we propose the ISPWAD framework and design its algorithm, and also illustrate how to implement the secure Web-based applications with tuning performance. Then, we will utilize the ISPWAD to set up a practical EIP system and perform simulations for security solutions and performance improvements. Finally, our experimental results indicate that the proposed ISPWAD can solve related security holes, obtain better processing performance, and reduce development time and cost. In addition, the ISPWAD can attain a good balance-point between security and performance. In the future, the ISPWAD framework can provide a reference model for implementing e-commerce, ERP II, or EIP systems.","PeriodicalId":184487,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'07)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134025955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A business process in that environment, i.e., the service-oriented business process (SOBP), shows highly flexibility for its free selection and composition of different services. The performance of the business process usually has to be evaluated and predicted before its being implemented. And it has special features since it includes both business-level and IT-level attributes. However, the existing modeling and performance evaluation methods of business process are mainly concentrated on business-level performance. And the researches on service selection and composition are usually limited to the IT-level metrics. An extended activity-network-based SOBP Model, its three-level performance metrics, and the corresponding calculation algorithm are proposed to fulfill these requirements. The advantages of our method in SOBP modeling and performance evaluation are highlighted also.","PeriodicalId":184487,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'07)","volume":"285 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133842096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So far, research and development of e-services have mainly focused on an operational perspective, such as the development of standards for message exchanges and service coordination. However, on a strategic level, the success of e-services depends on its ability to work as a catalyst for the business values that are being exchanged. In this paper, we present an approach that utilize value and goal models as the foundation for designing e-services. The approach can be used to strategically ensure that the developed e-services support the desired business values for involved actors.
