First, a dual-stream transmission scheme under a 2-by-M (M ≥ 2) multiple-input multiple-output scenario is studied. A generalization for any number of simultaneous substreams is then built based on the initial results. We provide an approximation on the average bit error probability (ABEP). We also show that a rotation of π/4 radian applied on the BPSK signal constellation minimizes the derived approximation on ABEP. It is shown that the error performance of the original ZFRBF scheme can be enhanced by exploiting SSD with only an insignificant increase in complexity and no additional use of bandwidth/time slots.","PeriodicalId":183694,"journal":{"name":"2017 Advances in Wireless and Optical Communications (RTUWO)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125791855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main investigated parameters are either physical or geometrical. First, we classically study the impact of optical properties of surface materials. Then, the effect due to the presence of the user body inducing various VLC receiver orientations is analyzed. Finally, different body and furniture sizes and levels of details are also investigated. This study explores whether it is necessary and how to model the channel regarding the studied parameters. The results are established according to VLC link quality and data rate.","PeriodicalId":183694,"journal":{"name":"2017 Advances in Wireless and Optical Communications (RTUWO)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115835322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

High density of remote radio heads (RRHs) deployments results in inefficient energy consumption. Moreover improvements in the battery capacity of mobile devices lag far behind the surging demand for transmit power, which makes power efficient communication an essential requirement for the next generation wireless communication systems. In this paper we consider a network with multiple service providers share the ultra-dense C-RAN (UD-CRAN). We consider the QoS requirement of each service provider and propose power control algorithm. The performance is evaluated through simulations and demonstrated that our algorithm provides significant energy efficiency gains while meeting the given data rate specifications.","PeriodicalId":183694,"journal":{"name":"2017 Advances in Wireless and Optical Communications (RTUWO)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129682531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the solutions to overcome this problem is to use a mobile robot that is equipped with, in addition to the sensing unit, an actuator unit that controls its movement. In this case, the mobile robot is considered as a mobile sensor node that has the capability to monitor the uncovered regions in the sensor field. However, the main challenge in this case is how to control the movement of the mobile robot such that the area coverage is maximized and the time required to sample the uncovered regions is minimized. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy logic-based approach that controls the mobile robot movement in the sensor field in order to maximize the area coverage. The inputs of the fuzzy system determine the next point that the mobile node will select when it moves in the sensor field. Simulation results have shown that the proposed approach outperforms the random and standard moving patterns.","PeriodicalId":183694,"journal":{"name":"2017 Advances in Wireless and Optical Communications (RTUWO)","volume":"57 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120920175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For such systems vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) communications is safety-critical component of ITS. Many mobility and convenience applications of ITS require the V2X bidirectional communications mode. This paper focuses on evaluating reliability of bidirectional communication channels with redundant equipment and periodical sessions of communication with test during communication sessions and with additional periodical test in the pauses between communication sessions. The optimal periodicity of channel monitoring is defined.","PeriodicalId":183694,"journal":{"name":"2017 Advances in Wireless and Optical Communications (RTUWO)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123565965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The relay-selection and power allocation is based on the calculation of the log-likelihood ratio (LLR) value, calculated at each of the relay nodes available in the secondary network. No interference is caused to the primary network, through the satisfaction of a low power constraint. The proposed schemes' performance is measured and compared in terms of the their BER curves. The effect of the interference caused by the primary network is also investigated.","PeriodicalId":183694,"journal":{"name":"2017 Advances in Wireless and Optical Communications (RTUWO)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132392737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this approach, the sensor model detects, measures, and transmits waste volume data over the Internet. The collected data including trash bin's geolocation and the serial number is processed by using regression, classification and graph theory. Thenceforth a new method is proposed to dynamically and efficiently manage the waste collection by predicting waste status, classifying trash bin location, and monitoring the amount of waste. Then, this latter recommends the optimization of the route to manage the garbage truck efficiently. Finally, the simulation results are presented and estimated.","PeriodicalId":183694,"journal":{"name":"2017 Advances in Wireless and Optical Communications (RTUWO)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133284083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this contribution a newly developed SVD algorithm for polynomial matrices (PMSVD) is analyzed and compared to the commonly used SVD-based MIMO equalization. Since the PMSVD processing results in independent single-input single-output layers exhibiting a frequency-selective characteristic, a simple zero forcing equalizer or an optimal Viterbi detector is applied in this work so as to remove the occurring inter-symbol interferences. The PMSVD orthogonalization is compared with the conventional SVD in terms of the achievable spectral efficiencies, showing that there is no loss applying PMSVD over SVD processing. In addition, the bit-error rate performances in different channel scenarios are evaluated and optimized by applying combined bit and power allocation schemes. One scenario involves the measured specific impulse responses of a (2×2) optical MIMO channel, consisting of a 1.4 km multi-mode fiber, optical fusion couplers for mode multiplexing and demultiplexing when operating at a wavelength of 1576 nm. The computer simulation results show that the PMSVD could be an alternative signal processing method compared to conventional SVD-based approaches in frequency-selective MIMO channels.","PeriodicalId":183694,"journal":{"name":"2017 Advances in Wireless and Optical Communications (RTUWO)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122152833","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
