Extreme Programming (XP) is one of the well-known agile software development methodologies and is driven by a set of values including simplicity, communication, feedback and courage, but lacks the mechanism to measure these values demanding the evaluation framework to make it measurable and attainable. The main aim of this study is to build the software process improvement model that can be used for evaluating XP values and practices. The proposed XP evaluation framework in this study is XP focused and evaluates the XP project, product and practices. The XP evaluation framework is a collection of some new and validated metrics used for evaluating XP projects, XP practices, XP products and some additional factors concerned with XP. The evaluation framework for extreme programming is basically based on the assessment and evaluation of various project characteristics, extreme programming characteristics, product characteristics and other additional characteristics. The metrics used for assessments and evaluations of XP are designed to be simple, precise, understandable, economical, timely, consistent, accountable, unambiguous, suitable and reliable.","PeriodicalId":183221,"journal":{"name":"SCITECH Nepal","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132424192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is helpful for identifying the best path for the optimum power flow in dry as well as wet season. The available generating stations and substations taken as supply and demand nodes near Kathmandu valley are considered and the network is optimized as a transshipment flow problem. The main goal in this network flow model is to determine how much power should be allowed to flow across each transmission lines with minimal losses. In addition, optimization is performed considering the power import from India as well. Considering active power flow with a different scenario, and depending upon the load demand, the power system network is modeled in order to find out the best possible routes for efficient power flow with minimum loss.","PeriodicalId":183221,"journal":{"name":"SCITECH Nepal","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121905750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here the Nepali Language is Synthetized based on formant approach and the use of one of the popular generic frameworks FreeTTS that is available in public domain for the development of a TTS system. The Text To Speech Architecture has been developed putting more emphasis on the Natural Language Processing (NLP) component rather than Digital Signal Processing (DSP) component. Nepali language being mostly used language in Nepal and some parts of India and abroad, a text-to-speech (TTS} synthesizer for this language will prove to be a convenient tool and communication technology (JCT) based system to aid to those majorities of people who are illiterate and also to those who are physical impairments like visually handicapped and vocally disabled persons. This ability to convert text to voice may reduce the dependency, frustration, and sense of helplessness of these people. The system can be extended to include more features such as emotions, improved tokenization, interactive options and the use of minimal database.","PeriodicalId":183221,"journal":{"name":"SCITECH Nepal","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121324265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Automatic text classification has been a focus of many researchers in different languages for decades. There is a huge amount of research repository on features of English language and their uses on automated text processing. This research implements Nepali language key features for automatic text classification of Nepali news. In particular, the study on impact of Nepali language based features, which are extremely different than English language is more challenging because of the higher level of complexity to be resolved. The research experiment using vector space model, n-gram model and key feature based processing specific to Nepali language shows promising result compared to bag-of-words model for the task of automated Nepali news classification.","PeriodicalId":183221,"journal":{"name":"SCITECH Nepal","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128277526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Memristor is being used extensively as synapses in neuromorphic applications. A common method for developing memristor based synaptic circuits is to store synaptic weight values within memristors as resistance values. It requires use of the continuous resistance (memristance) range available in the memristors to store the weights. In this paper, we study how different compact synaptic circuits implemented using Ti02 memristors to perform zero, negative, and positive synaptic weightings. Results of different memristor based circuits, based on pulsed input signals, are compared, analyzed and presented using Ti02 memristors via simulations.","PeriodicalId":183221,"journal":{"name":"SCITECH Nepal","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131809454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If solar radiation can be utilized for heating of water in radiant floor heating system, the cost of electricity can be reduced. Because of the sufficient availability of solar radiation in Kathmandu Valley during winter season, underfloor heating with solar water heating can be a viable technology for residential buildings. So this paper is focused on identifying suitable system/or domestic radiant floor heating system. Compound parabolic concentrator (CPC) water heating system is more suitable for heating water because tracking system is not required and sufficient water temperature can be achieved. It is also found that more studies are necessary to make the system cost effective and suitable for the residential buildings in Kathmandu.","PeriodicalId":183221,"journal":{"name":"SCITECH Nepal","volume":"281 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113972307","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper is focussed on the analysis of EEG signal to detect the presence of the epileptic seizure prior to its occurrence. The result could aid the individual in the initiation of delay sensitive diagnostic, therapeutic and alerting procedures. The methodology involves the multi-resolution analysis (MRA) of the EEG signals of epileptic patient. MRA is carried out using discrete wavelet transform with daubechies 8 as the mother wavelet. For EEG data, the database of MJT-BIH of one of the patient with 41 different cases is used. The result showed that a unique pattern is observed during the spectral analysis of the signal over different bands with positive predictive value of 100%, negative predictive value of 82.35% and the overall accuracy of 85.37%. This unique pattern, basically energy burst in two of the bands of the signal can be used as important feature for the early detection of the epileptic seizure. All the results have been simulated within the Matlab environment.","PeriodicalId":183221,"journal":{"name":"SCITECH Nepal","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117115672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
