This work elucidates the design and development of high precision and wide field of view digital sun sensor for space applications. Sun sensor employs active pixel image sensor along with processing techniques of feature extraction and image correlation. Software algorithm exploits the distinctive features of Active Pixel imaging Sensor (APS), in comparison to CCD based image sensor, for computationally efficient algorithm design. Sunlight falling on the sun sensor produces an image of the sun on image sensor. Software algorithm processes this image for noise removal, feature extraction, centroid analysis and sun vector calculations. Digital sun sensor, presented here, achieves 0.018 pixels (3σ) centroid accuracy with 120°×120°field of view.","PeriodicalId":182948,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114611818","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, these are hazardous for the environment due to their high global warming potential and long atmospheric lifetime. Therefore, new gases are required to be introduced as the alternatives to SF6 and Novec 4710. R-134a has excellent dielectric characteristics, but it cannot be used alone due to its high boiling point. To compensate for that, C02was mixed as a gas carrier to achieve a high boiling point like that of SF6. Sphere-sphere electrodes were used with the gap measurement of 6mm. The comparison of different ratios shows that for HVAC, 80% of R-134a and 20% of C02mixture constitutes a good proportion for high voltage applications. For HVDC, 90% of R-134a and 10% C02shows better result. Also, the synergistic effect is evidently better for 70/30 ratio of R-134a/C02, and its self-recoverability characteristic is effectively improved.","PeriodicalId":182948,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117040950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This rapid growth in DER with AC and DC output type and large-scale integration of sensitive AC and DC loads at distribution network results in an inevitable shift to Hybrid AC/DC distribution network. The realization of Hybrid AC/DC distribution network is now possible with the employment of multi-terminal voltage source converter (VSC-MTDC) systems. In this paper, the load flow calculations for multi-terminal VSC-MTDC based hybrid AC/DC network is performed and the effects of the distributed DC voltage control technique are analyzed. Various network scenarios are analyzed by modifying IEEE 14-bus hybrid AC/DC distribution network equipped with VSC-MTDC and results are investigated according to power sharing requirements and operational efficiency using MATPOWER an open source power flow package.","PeriodicalId":182948,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125571976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A market participant seeks to determine a trading portfolio that maximizes return as well as minimizes associated risks. A novel procedure is developed in this paper to determine electricity trading portfolio of a load serving entity in a wholesale market with both centralized day-ahead auction and decentralized bilateral trades. In this paper, independent system operator conducts a simultaneous feasibility test to determine maximum feasible financial bilateral trades. The portfolio optimization procedure incorporates the maximum feasible bilateral trades announced by the independent system operator. The procedure also considers whether load serving entities are responsible for uncertain transmission congestion charges or hold any financial transmission rights as hedge against the uncertain charges. Three case studies show that the new procedure determines trading portfolio of a load serving entity, irrespective of whether it is responsible for transmission congestion charges or holds any financial transmission rights.","PeriodicalId":182948,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127269307","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the efficient utilization of output energy of PV arrays, it is essential to operate PV systems in the Maximum Power Point (MPP). In contrast, the nonlinear behavior of PV systems, maximum power point variations with temperature and solar irradiance level make its tracking complicated. Since, there are various MPPT approaches proposed in the literature. This work presents a comparative study among three Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithms which are Proportional Integral Derivative (PID)-based incremental conductance, PID-based perturb and observe and Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) based modeling of PV systems. The controllers were stimulated using MATLAB/Simulink under various weather and load conditions in terms of efficiency, power quality and MPP error. The results of simulation show that the MPPT technique based on FLC is more efficient in comparison to other techniques, giving a fruitful energy conversion efficiency of 97.02%.","PeriodicalId":182948,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133447666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
