It is an established global health emergency of our time and an ongoing threat faced by the world up till now. This study aims to determine the trend, fit an appropriate Error Trend and Seasonal (ETS) exponential smoothing and ARIMA model to the COVID-19 daily deaths in Nigeria. Dataset on the daily COVID-19 confirmed death cases were utilized in the study. The data was extracted from the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) online database from 10th July 2020 to 2nd December 2021. Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and twelve (12) (ETS) exponential smoothing techniques were compared based on the dataset. The performance of the ARIMA and ETS exponential smoothing methods was investigated using the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC), Hannan Quinn Information Criterion (HQC), and AMSE selection criteria. The best time series modeling for the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic in Nigeria was the ARIMA (0,1,0) because its model selection criteria showed that it had the lowest value of; AIC=2863.51, BIC= 2866.90, HQ = 2866.90, and AMSE = 0.55471. ARIMA (0,1,0) model is preferred among the thirteen (13) competing models based on daily confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":182680,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Natural Sciences Research","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126231052","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study adopted a descriptive cross-sectional study design and the objectives were, to assess the average EF of Ijebu Ode. Both primary and secondary data were employed, and the primary data for this study was collected from four hundred (400) systemically sampled households through structured questionnaires, and analysed descriptively using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (version 20.0). The findings revealed the average ecological footprint of the Ijebu Ode to be 0.3gha per capita, with the footprint of water as the highest contributor to the EF, with 0.9gha (86.5%) of the total footprint. Thus, the study concluded that, the average EF of Ijebu Ode is 0.3 gha and therefore sustainable. However, it was recommended that, sustainable consumption must be encouraged, implemented and demonstrated to sustain the current EF of Ijebu Ode and public campaigns should be encouraged and implemented adequately in light of increasing awareness of the adverse environmental impacts of unsustainable consumption.","PeriodicalId":182680,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Natural Sciences Research","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116995460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the transformation of the telecommunication network of Sri Lanka, this study proposes a structure to increase the average upload and download speeds by using some concepts in pure Mathematics. The research design has aligned into two categories as interpretation and optimization. They established by using the concept of Graph Theory and linear programming models respective. We forecast the public switched telephone network (PSTN) model for the local network. Then we ranked carrier systems of Sri Lanka according to their services without violating privacy. Next, we created the minimum traffic flow, local model, based on the traffic flows. Then we proposed cable systems around Sri Lanka. After that, we calculated the required signal towers for the uniform coverage by considering the population density. Linear programming models had generated to optimize the traffic flows. We could obtain six hundred twenty-five linear programming models due to different coefficients in each case. So, we have separated those models into three sectors: low, moderate, and high. Three examples had discussed by considering them. The solutions had evaluated by using the PHP Simplex calculator.","PeriodicalId":182680,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Natural Sciences Research","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121184201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, graphene is used as biomolecular recognition element (BRE) because of its high adsorption ability and optical characteristics which helps to improve sensor sensitivity, on the other hand MoS2 is used for it has larger band gap, high fluroscence quenching ability, higher optical absorption efficiency which improves further sensor sensitivity. In DNA hybridization event, numerically achieved results show that single layer of graphene-MoS2 based SPR biosensor is 175% more sensitive than single layer of graphene coated SPR biosensor. Surface plasmon resonance angle and spectrum of reflected power are numerically investigated for different concentrated complementary DNA strands. The variations of SPR angle is significantly computable for complementary DNA strands whereas these parameters are varied negligibly for mismatched DNA strands. Thus the proposed sensor effectively differentiates hybridization and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) by examining the level of changes in SPR angle and reflected power spectrum.","PeriodicalId":182680,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Natural Sciences Research","volume":"152 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134585610","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The activated aluminum particles are produced shredded aluminum sawdust. It is difficult to characterize the reaction quantitatively because the characteristics of hydrogen generating reaction vary as depending on the samples, the environment of the reaction and so on. The experimental system consists of a fuel cell (FC) of 100[W], a water tank, a reaction vessel, pressure sensors, a water pump, a radiator and a one-chip microcomputer. The fuzzy control system is designed to determine the quantum of water which is supplied to the activated aluminum particles. The error forms a desired value of the pressure of the reaction vessel and the change of the error are chosen as the labels of the fuzzy membership functions. The proposed fuzzy control system is applied to maintain the pressure of the reaction vessel of the developed hydrogen generation system at a certain level. The developed hydrogen generation system is confirmed to provide hydrogen to the FC by experiments under various conditions.","PeriodicalId":182680,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Natural Sciences Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128036522","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This was achieved through the use of pinch methodology on Aspen Pinch software, Version 11.1. Supertargeting was used to obtain the minimum temperature difference for two case studies and the networks were designed on Grid Diagrams. The design of the networks was focused on the energy-capital costs tradeoffs, preventing the use of extra heat exchanger units to reduce energy costs at the expense of capital costs. This paid off as the networks designed in this research obtained the lowest total annual costs (TACs) when compared with the results obtained by other researchers on the case studies under review. Contribution/Originality: This study contributes to the existing literature on problems involving multiple utilities and is able to achieve lower total annual costs through the optimization of the utilities usage using the combined traditional pinch technique and mathematical provisions as available in ASPEN pinch.","PeriodicalId":182680,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Natural Sciences Research","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123698410","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
