Many type of speed controller has been developed and Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller has been the most prominent due to simplicity. However, lack of evidence presented in literature regarding the bidirectional speed control of such motor. In this paper, a PID bidirectional BLDC motor speed controller using Direct Commutation Switching Scheme is proposed. The controller is developed and tested using MATLAB/Simulink. Several advanced model based technologies require explicit dynamic models of the process plant. However, even the development of the dynamic model of a simple unit operation is very daunting, costly and time-consuming. This paper presents a rigorous dynamic simulation using Aspen Plus. The data from the dynamic simulation is then used to develop transfer function model of the column. This case study considers a distillation column with an ethanol-water feed. A 2×3 distillation column transfer function model is developed from step responses of the Aspen plus dynamic simulation, i.e. with feed valve opening %, reflux flow rate and reboiler duty as input and top and the bottom compositions as an output. Surveillance is one such significant application. Surveillance with automatic human detection and event understanding is a faster and smart solution for today's surveillance. There have been a number of techniques which can be utilized for achieving human detection in an image or video. Each of these uses different types of features to exploit different characteristics of human being. So is the case that every of these techniques has some or other pitfall. Seeing all those, a novel technique based on skin color modeling is proposed in this paper for human detection in real-time surveillance videos. Discrimination between different land coverages especially in metropolitan surveying is so important that the in front civilization projects are basically dependent to them. In this paper, an innovative image processing strategy is employed for distinguishing green lands from other metropolitan areas in aerial imaging. The main purpose of this project is to audit green land areas, either public or private, for forthcoming municipal projects. The proposed method is constituted of four main stages. In the first step, the acquired aerial video frames, even in or offline modes, are converted into static images. In the second and third stages, two distinct pre-processing stages are deployed. The output of these two preprocessing stages is segmented into two parts comprising of green land and other urban areas. However, too small transistor size can degrade transistor performance thus become limitation to CMOS scaling. One way to overcome this limitation is by incorporating CMOS with memristor; a device that offers small size, low power, nonvolatile characteristic with switching ability and is compatible with CMOS technology. In this research, memristor resistance write circuit (RWC) and read circuit (RRC) are presented. A pulse-coded memristor programming method is adopted in RWC design. It uses 2 sets of switches to decreases or increases resistance by supplying positive or negative pulse. Plus, the longer width of supply signal, the bigger changes of resistance. Next, two types of RRC are presented; voltage read circuit and current read circuit. Former circuit consists of trans-impedance amplifier and resistor. Output voltage from amplifier expresses memristor resistance value. When voltage supply is negative pulse, memristor resistance increases thus Vout gradually decreases and otherwise. Latter circuit consists of amplifier and CMOS transistor to read the current from memristor that express memristor resistance. When memristor resistance changes, the current also changes. Set of current mirror is added to enable memristor current to be copied to other circuit. A current sample and hold circuit is added to keep current information when there is no voltage supply. Result shows first RWC successfully program resistance of memristor either to increase or decrease. Second, voltage read circuit can express resistance value in voltage form but have negative output voltage that not very applicable. The chaos in digital filter of the second order system is produced by the coefficients which are initialed in the key generator to produce other new coefficients. Private key system using the initial coefficients value condition and dynamic input as password of 16 characters is to generate the coefficients for crypto-system. In addition, we have tension specifically to propose the solution of data security in lightweight cryptography based on external and internal key in which conducts with the appropriate key sensitivity plus high performance. The chaos in digital filter has functioned as the main major in the system. It is an extended version of a single objective type SDA. A Non-dominated sorting (NS) approach from Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGAII) is adopted into SDA to develop its multi-objective (MO) type algorithm. SDA has a good elitism strategy and a simple structure. On the other hand, NS is a fast strategy to develop good Pareto Front (PF) characteristics for MO type algorithm. The proposed algorithm is tested with various benchmark functions used to test a newly developed MO algorithm. A PF graph is presented as a result of the test. Moreover, it is adopted to optimize parameters of ProportionalDerivative (PD) controller for an Inverted Pendulum (IP) system. Time-domain response of the IP is presented to show performance of the optimized controller. Result presented in this paper shows that MOSDA has a better performance in terms of finding PF and solution spread when tested with benchmark functions compared to NSGAII. In terms of its application in solving a real problem, both algorithms successfully optimize the PD and control the system very well. The occurring of TLEs is fast and difficult observed by human eyes. Therefore, a camera sensitive to low light condition is needed for observation of this phenomenon. In this paper, the camera is coupled with 50 mm f1.4 lens and Digital Video Recorder (DVR). A conversion of analog-to-digital between personal computer (PC) and the camera was applied to transfer the file by using DVR. This paper covers calculation of the conversion ratio between image dimension in PC monitor to a real dimension for horizontal and vertical axis. This includes ceramic and polymeric material combination which is considered to enhance the dielectric polarization. The dielectric film presented in the study focused on PbTiO3/PVDF-TrFE which was prepared through layer-by-layer spin coating deposition method. The PVDF-TrFE coating was aimed to encapsulate the fragility and to improve the crystallinity property of PbTiO3 thin film surface. The preferential orientation of (1 0 1) tetragonal perovskite PbTiO3 was obtained in this and high crystallinity was found on bilayered PbTiO3/PVDF-TrFE film. The bilayered film produced good film surface in term of its uniformity and surface roughness. Taib","doi":"10.1109/ICSGRC.2017.8070580","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ICSGRC.2017.8070580","url":null,"abstract":"This study investigates the performance of the Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) classifier in discriminating the qualities of agarwood oil significant compounds by different qualities based on three training algorithms namely Scaled Conjugate Gradient (SCG), Levernbergh-Marquardt (LM) and Resilient Backpropagation (RP) Neural Network by using Matlab version 2013a. The dataset used in this study were obtained at Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) and University Malaysia Pahang (UMP). Further, the areas (abundances, %) of chemical compounds is set as an input and the quality represented (high or low) as an output. The MLP performance was examined with different number of hidden neurons which is in the ranged of 1 to 10. Their performances were observed to accurately found the best technique of optimization to apply to the model. It was found that the LM is effective in reducing the error by enhancing the number of hidden neurons during the network development. The MSE of LM is the smallest among SCG and RP.
