The reaction was monitored by 1-D N and 2-D [H, N] heteronuclear single-quantum coherence (HSQC) Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry. The reaction was initially performed in an alkaline solution; the platinum mononuclear species products were observed. The pH of the solution was then decreased to an acidic solution; the products obtained were oligomeric platinum products. Based on the spectrum from mass spectrometry, which was obtained in a basic solution, the most dominant complex in the solution is a dinuclear platinum(II) species with a sulfur-bridging, trans-[{Pt(S-cys)2(NH3)2}2(S-cys)] having m/z of 822. The loss of two successive ammines was observed.","PeriodicalId":18088,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46766530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Explanation of the observed phenomena considering the extent of how vigorous the reaction is and the circumstances contributing to the rate of reaction due to the precipitate formation or water presence, are discussed. In this paper, the reaction between some concentrated aqueous solutions of oxoacids (HNO3, H3PO4, H2SO4, HClO4) and alkali metals (Li, Na, K) are considered. Video clips of the experiments were prepared as an aid for those instructors that lack experience and/or the necessary materials. This publication is a continuation of the previously published article about the reaction of alkali metals with hydrohalic acids and is part of the series of publications under the general title “A Safe Way of Performing Dangerous Experiments”.","PeriodicalId":18088,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67570522","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Seventeen samples of monofloral honey (11 samples of acacia honey and 6 samples of sunflower honey) from the territory of the Republic of Serbia were analyzed. Physicochemical analysis of the samples included the examination of basic quality parameters and qualitative and quantitative analyses of phenolic compounds. In the samples tested, a total of 93 phenolic compounds were tentatively identified, and 19 of them were quantified. The obtained physicochemical analysis of the data served as input for the multivariate analysis. The hеаt map, which is useful for visualizing numerical data, was used for this purpose. The obtained results showed that the applied data can serve to clearly separate acacia and sunflower honeys.","PeriodicalId":18088,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48181785","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The inhibitory effects of the synthesized Mannich bases were examined in vitro by using hydratase and esterase assays on carbonic anhydrase I and II isozymes (hCA, EC 4.2.1.1) purified from human erythrocyte cells. Acetazolamide was used as the control compound. The values of IC50, the half-maximum inhibitory concentration, were found for hydratase and esterase activities. Only two compounds (2b and 2d) exhibited poor hCA I and hCA II inhibition effects on esterase activity. In contrast, compounds 2a and 2c could be used as carbonic anhydrase activators as a result of the increased esterase activity of hCA I and hCA II isozymes.","PeriodicalId":18088,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46582988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The oxidation of the agent was irreversible and presented a diffusion‐controlled process. The sensitivity of the square wave voltammetric measurements were significantly improved when the cationic surfactant, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), was present in the supporting electrolyte solution. Using square-wave mode, a linear response was obtained for diflunisal quantification in 0.1 mol L-1 phosphate buffer solution (pH 2.5) solution containing 5×10-5 mol L-1 CTAB at +1.07 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) (after 30 s accumulation under open-circuit conditions). Linearity was found for 0.05 to 2.0 μg mL-1 (2.0×10-7-8.0×10-6 mol L-1) with a detection limit 0.013 μg mL-1 (5.2×10-8 mol L-1). The developed approach could be used for the quantification of diflunisal in pharmaceutical formulations.","PeriodicalId":18088,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47689422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
