All fields of study have adopted and benefit from diverse machine learning algorithms implementation. The challenge is to determine which algorithm is best suited to solve a given problem. This problem is especially challenging in social sciences. To tackle that issue, this paper explores a group of machine learning algorithms used for predictive models’ development in social science domains of business and education. Several machine learning algorithms are applied here (algorithms of artificial neural networks, k-nearest neighbors, decision tree) along with characteristics of datasets measured by meta-features. In the empirical part of the research, algorithms are compared on the data sets using standard predictive model evaluation metrics. Data sets are extracted from the education and business domain. Research results provide insights into machine learning algorithms’ performance depending on their meta-features. Meta-features are significant predictors of machine learning algorithms’ performance in both education and business domain. Machine learning-based predictive models developed in this paper are a step forward to the acceleration of digital transformation in the education and business sector.","PeriodicalId":177983,"journal":{"name":"2023 46th MIPRO ICT and Electronics Convention (MIPRO)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115233104","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The algorithms for their solving also go hand-in-hand, in that most MaxSAT solvers employ SAT solvers as the so-called oracles. In the present paper we perform a computational study of the RC2 algorithm, which is among the best state-of-the-art algorithms for MaxSAT solving. We view it from the SAT oracle viewpoint and consider how the SAT oracle’s runtime is distributed among RC2 procedures and heuristics, and how this statistics differs depending on the SAT solver employed as an oracle. In addition to that we consider the two baseline MSE’18 configurations of RC2, analyze their performance and experiment with blending them together.","PeriodicalId":177983,"journal":{"name":"2023 46th MIPRO ICT and Electronics Convention (MIPRO)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123104960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has received a lot of attention recently and has become far from unsolvable due to progress of deep learning for computer vision and also due to rapid development of computer hardware which is able to process complex neural networks. Some of the most common challenges that make this task difficult are irregular text shapes, text interferences, very complex background, different text sizes and low image quality. This paper presents an overview of state-of-the-art solutions for scene text detection where ICDAR 2015 was used as a benchmark dataset. We compare solutions with respect to precision, recall and F-score.","PeriodicalId":177983,"journal":{"name":"2023 46th MIPRO ICT and Electronics Convention (MIPRO)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116890213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this paper is to explore the reactions and consequences of online sexual harassment. The data were collected within the DeShame project in Croatia in 2020. The probabilistic stratified cluster sample consisted of 2016 pupils of high schools in Croatia (53,8% M; Mean age 15,74). The results show that 20,3% of children witnessed or experienced online sexual harassment in the last year. The most occurring feeling to online sexual harassment was feeling upset (34,2%) and worried (31,1%). However, research identified group of children who didn’t want to go to school or see their friends and around every $6^{mathrm{t}mathrm{h}}$ child was worried that this incident will be mentioned again in the future that implies the shame they are feeling because of the involvement in such an event. Therefore, students choose independent problem-solving strategies. The most prevalent reaction after the incident was ignoring followed by blocking the perpetrators, seeking for the friend support or trying to speak to perpetrators or reporting to the platform. Seeking help from adults was significantly less prevalent with speaking to parents being the most salient. The results show that the prevalence of sexual harassment is high among adolescents and the future policies should build the activistic component among adolescents and cooperation to prevent the normalization of sexual harassment.","PeriodicalId":177983,"journal":{"name":"2023 46th MIPRO ICT and Electronics Convention (MIPRO)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127152848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Till now, no many distributions were found to be able to characterize a channel with both, the line of sight (LOS) and the non-LOS (NLOS) components. One of such distribution unifying the non-central chi, generalized Rician and $kappa -mu$ distributions into a single fading distribution is Beaulieu-Xie distribution. Beaulieu-Xie fading, as disturbance in wireless system, will be considered in this work. Beside fading, co-channel interference (CCI) modeled by Rayleigh distribution, is present. An analysis of outage probability for selection combining (SC) receiver with multiple branches, used to mitigate these disturbances in the system, will be carried out. The expressions for probability density function (PDF), cumulative distribution function (CDF) and outage probability will be derived. A few graphs will be plotted and based on them an impact of fading and CCI parameters will be highlighted.","PeriodicalId":177983,"journal":{"name":"2023 46th MIPRO ICT and Electronics Convention (MIPRO)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126090206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They can provide quick and objective assessment and feedback to the programming assignments – those that receive source code as a response. Most APASs treat code as a black box and employ dynamic analysis to assess code. Dynamic analysis is straightforward, easily implemented, explainable, and works well in most situations. Edgar is a comprehensive, state of the art APAS, that has been used daily and has evolved for the past six years. This paper examines the pipeline used by Edgar to assess programming questions and presents our enhancements to the traditional dynamic analysis programmable templates and scripts. Templates enable customized question texts based on the programmable model, so that each student can receive personalized variation of the question. Personalized questions are a great way to fight potential academic dishonesty. Scripts are plugged into the assessment pipeline after the dynamic analysis and can override the default grade by examining some other aspect of the program. We also offer our thoughts on upcoming plans to include generic static analysis as we move closer to a unified assessment pipeline.","PeriodicalId":177983,"journal":{"name":"2023 46th MIPRO ICT and Electronics Convention (MIPRO)","volume":"46 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126140636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this practical work usually takes place in local laboratories, which poses a problem in the context of higher education marked by the massification of students. Researchers have proposed solutions for remote practical work for computer science courses (programming, networking) by using screen sharing, improved functionality of LMS platforms, virtualization and the cloud. However, remote practical work in the field of physics-electronics is very limited and does not take into account the flexibility and simultaneous access to practical work benches. In this paper we propose a model of physics-electronics practical work accessible and manipulable remotely via the web. To illustrate the relevance of our model, we propose a device to detect a laser signal via an optical fiber controlled by a Raspberry pi from our web platform.","PeriodicalId":177983,"journal":{"name":"2023 46th MIPRO ICT and Electronics Convention (MIPRO)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126614332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we describe laboratory exercises designed to improve awareness of online security, in addition to teaching cybersecurity knowledge and skills. The lab exercises were used as a part of an information security fundamentals course for IT students with none or only novice experience in the field. These lessons are suitable for both delivery in the classroom and online in a virtual laboratory environment. The lab exercises were developed using the design science research methodology (DSR). Following DSR principles, the evaluation of the developed material was done by extracting observations from student reports. The thematic analysis method was used to process the data. The evaluation of the student learning reports revealed that the labs and the course were successful in the following ways: Improving security knowledge, improving critical thinking skills, and improving security awareness. Students also gained hands-on cyber awareness skills by analysing metadata in messages. Additionally, the material was perceived as useful for future working life.","PeriodicalId":177983,"journal":{"name":"2023 46th MIPRO ICT and Electronics Convention (MIPRO)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122631766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other hand, neuroevolution offers a solution for the simultaneous growth of neural network architecture and the evolution of its weights. Thus, it is not limited by the user-defined list of possible architectures and can find configurations optimal for a specific task. Both approaches can be effectively parallelized and take advantage of modern multi-process systems. In this research, we compare neuroevolution and backpropagation in terms of the time consumed by the algorithm, the predictive performance of the neural network, and the complexity of the neural network. The total time for each algorithm is measured along with the times for each section of the algorithm and the time spent on synchronization due to the multi-process setting. The neural networks are compared by their predictive performance in terms of Matthews correlation coefficient score and their complexity as the number of nodes and connections. The case study is based on two synthetic and two real-world datasets for classification tasks.","PeriodicalId":177983,"journal":{"name":"2023 46th MIPRO ICT and Electronics Convention (MIPRO)","volume":"373 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122923534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
