The current technologies like LTE uses MIMO, OFDM and coding techniques that have reached their limits and provide an almost theoretical efficiency but they also in the near future may be uanble to handle this increase in bandwidth requirement. mmWave wireless systems, operating in the range of 30–300 GHz possesses the potential to tackle this bandwidth dilemma by achieving speeds in the Gbps range. 60 GHz range in the mmWave spectrum due to its wireless Characteristics and free licensing is the target of research for communications in both indoor and Outdoor scenarios. mmWaves due to its smaller wavelengths has some disadvantages for communication and were previously not fit for long range communications but due to advancements in antenna fabrication technology and with smart antennas capable of spatial multiplexing and beamforming, these disadvantages have been neutralized and a huge bandwidth is now available to be used for communication. In this paper we investigate the performance of the an LCMV (Linearly Constrained Minimum Variance) beamformer at the receiving end of a 60Ghz indoor communication system. The performance is measured with noise sources at different locations and different number of sensor array elements.","PeriodicalId":177765,"journal":{"name":"2016 Asia Pacific Conference on Multimedia and Broadcasting (APMediaCast)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133435092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The work described here introduces the technical foundations to allow broadband-delivered (IP) ads into broadcast delivered live content using the standards HbbTV and VAST. IP-delivered display and video ads can overlay or complement instream broadcast ads. They allow a more efficient viewer targeting by considering user profiles and e.g. geographic information. In parallel to deliver broadcast ads to HbbTV devices, the work shows a way how to deliver the same media content and ad signals via Broadband in terms of over-the-top (OTT) using MPEG-DASH. MPEG-DASH allows to reach more platforms and devices, while benefiting from the advantages of HTTP adaptive streaming. The solution offers a Web-based tool to schedule ad events for HbbTV and OTT (MPEG-DASH) simultaneously. With companion screen support, which comes with HbbTV 2.0, even more advanced ad-insertion scenarios will be possible.","PeriodicalId":177765,"journal":{"name":"2016 Asia Pacific Conference on Multimedia and Broadcasting (APMediaCast)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123181044","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It helps us develop an understanding of the complexity and the degree of crowd interactions of people in spaces over time. Many techniques have been introduced to simulate crowd, especially in the past few decades. These techniques often focus on emergency situations rather than simulating the more common normal conditions. Simulating crowd under normal condition is of higher importance as there are significant number of crowd related incidents occurring under this condition. The most recent occurred in Mina, Saudi Arabia when two large pilgrim groups converged on the same street causing a crowd crush. Additionally, many of the crowd simulation techniques introduced tend to focus more on individual behaviours while group behaviours are ignored. Less attention were given on the grouping aspects of the crowd even though it is a common phenomenon and a key element as it affects crowd behaviour. Therefore, this research intends to create a simulation of multi-group crowd under normal condition based on the social force model. Tawaf is used as the case study due to the heterogeneous nature of the pilgrims which come from various countries from all over the world.","PeriodicalId":177765,"journal":{"name":"2016 Asia Pacific Conference on Multimedia and Broadcasting (APMediaCast)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126237281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Features extracted from images will be compared during the matching process. In this paper, we evaluate the retrieval performance of color-based descriptors derived from DC images. A DC image is a downscaled image generated by extracting the DC components of a JPEG-compressed image. DC images contain very rich information and can be utilized for various retrieval purposes. In this study, we consider a visually protected image database in which images have been protected by scrambling or encrypting their AC coefficients, while keeping the DC coefficients intact. This framework reduces computational cost and memory usage; therefore, it can be further implemented in a wide range of CBIR systems. We assessed this framework with three common color descriptors: the color layout descriptor (CLD), the dominant color descriptor (DCD), and the dominant color correlogram descriptor (DCCD). The results show that color-based descriptors are suitable for extraction from a DC image. DCD is one of the most powerful descriptors for this framework. In addition, descriptors extracted from a DC image demonstrated different retrieval performance than descriptors extracted from an original image. The effect of image sizes on retrieval performance of color-based descriptors was also investigated. We confirm that image size affects the ranks of retrieved images for some descriptors.","PeriodicalId":177765,"journal":{"name":"2016 Asia Pacific Conference on Multimedia and Broadcasting (APMediaCast)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129373658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Motion estimation plays an important role in predictive coding, which is the key part of video encoding and requires large amount of calculation. In order to reduce the computational complexity of motion estimation, the block-matching search algorithm must be able to find the motion vectors using fewer search points. This paper introduces a search algorithm designed for WMSNs. It adds predictive search technique to the enhanced modified orthogonal search (EMOS) algorithm, which improves the efficiency of block-matching search algorithms, and has two self-adapting search patterns for large and small movements. The proposed algorithm requires less search points to work out the movement of blocks and provides acceptable image quality.","PeriodicalId":177765,"journal":{"name":"2016 Asia Pacific Conference on Multimedia and Broadcasting (APMediaCast)","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131185506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, the pattern of network attacks becomes more sophisticated and lead to difficulty in detecting the attacks. Failure to prevent the attacks makes privacy, data, and other network resources are threatened. There is numerous network intrusion detection system (NIDS) have been proposed to tackle the network security threats in which the detection methods can be grouped into supervised, unsupervised and semi-supervised. Several artificial intelligence-based methods have also been considered in the NIDS to improve detection accuracies, such as fuzzy, machine learning, support vector machine (SVM) and k-means. Unfortunately, a literature study on semi-supervised intrusion detection system IDS (SS-IDS) is difficult to be found. Indeed, most of IDS literature studies are only focused on supervised and unsupervised detection methods. Consequently, the latest developments and issues on SS-IDS are difficult to be traced quickly. On the other hand, many semi-supervised methods and implementation the methods on IDS have been carried out since 2008. This research conducts a literature study on SS-IDS to tackle the issue by reviewing the developments of SS-IDS from 2008 to 2015. A narrative literature review has been chosen as a method to review the SS-IDS literature. A narrative literature review is a method of scientific publications that addresses specific topics of theoretical viewpoints and contextual. The review results show that the accuracy of the proposed SS-IDS is low. In addition false alarms of the IDS tend to be high.","PeriodicalId":177765,"journal":{"name":"2016 Asia Pacific Conference on Multimedia and Broadcasting (APMediaCast)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132003057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Numerical analysis is conducted to investigate the optimum transmission scheduling based on the signal to interference-noise-ratio (SINR) for ground level propagation model applied on wireless chain topology. The optimised transmission schedule considers the SINR value to enable simultaneous transmission from multiple nodes. The most significant advantages of this approach are reduced delay and improve the Packet Received Ratio PRR. Simulation is performed to evaluate the proposed protocol for intelligent transport system applications.
