Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mendapatkan nomor harapan jambu mente (Anacardium occidentale I..) yang toleran terhadap cekaman air, khususnya pada fase pembibitan Percobaan dilaksanakan di rumah kaca Balai Penelitian Bioteknologi Tanaman Pangan dan Laboratorium Balai Penelitian Tanaman Rempah dan Obat, dari bulan Mei-Agustus 2001. Rancangan faktorial dengan dua faktor dan tiga ulangan disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok. Faktor pertama adalah empat nomor harapan jambu mente yaitu : F2-8, III 4/2, P 293 dan B 02, dan sebagai faktor kedua adalah enam tingkat cekaman air yaitu : 50%, 55%, 60%, 65% 70% dan 75% kapasitas lapang (KL) Parameter yang diamati meliputi: pertumbuhan bibit (tinggi, jumlah daun, luas daun), bobot kering bibit (batang, daun dan akar), seta analisis kandungan prolin bebas. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa intcraksi nomor harapan dengan perlakuan cekaman air berbeda nyata terhadap kandungan prolin bebas. Kandungan prolin bebas tertinggi terdapat pada nomor B 0-2 pada cekaman air 50% KL, tetapi tidak berbeda nyata dengan F2-8, sedangkan kandungan prolin terendah didapatkan pada nomor III 4/2 dengan cekaman air 75% KL. Faktor tunggal nomor harapan berbeda nyata terhadap pertumbuhan bibit dan bobot keing bibit jambu mente. Dari empat nomor harapan yang diuji didapatkan bahwa nomor F2-8 mempunyai pertumbuhan bibit (tinggi, jumlah daun) dan bobot keing bibit yang paling tinggi dibandingkan nomor lainnya, sedangkan nomor B 0-2 mempunyai petumbuhan bibit (tinggi dan jumlah daun) dan bobot keing bibit yang paling rendah. Faktor tunggal tingkat cekaman air berbeda nyata terhadap pertumbuhan dan bobot keing bibit. Dai enam tingkat cekaman air didapatkan bahwa sampai cekaman air 70% KL pertumbuhan bibit (tinggi, jumlah daun, luas daun) tidak berbeda nyata, akan tetapi pada cekaman air 65% KL pertumbuhan dan bobot keing bibil berbeda nyata Berdasarkan petumbuhan bibit dan kandungan prolin bebas, dapat dikemukakan bahwa nomor F2-8. lebih toleran terhadap cekaman air dibandingkan dengan nomor lainnya.Kata kunci: Anacardium occidentale L, cekaman air, petumbuhan, fase bibit ABSTRACT Effect of water stress on the growth offour cashew line seedlings Water shortage during the seedling growth stage cashew is one of the limiting factors. Water available, has impotance rule on the growth of cashew seedling Anacardium occidentale L., especially when cashew is cultivated in the dry climate regions. Therefore, the evaluation of some promising lines to water stress was conducted. Madura, unluk mempclajari pengaruh populasi tanam terhadap sifat agronomis dan kimia dari dua varietas tembakau madura Percobaan dilakukan pada tahun 1990 (Mei s/d September), dengan cara panen salu kali, di Desa Guluk-guluk mewakili lahan gunung dengan clevasi 235 m, dan di Desa Kambingan Barat mewakili lahan legal (lahan kering) dengan clevasi 15 m. Sifat tanah dari lahan gunung adalah betcksiur liat, dengan 55% liat, 29% debu, 16% pasir, 0 62% C-organik, 0.11% N, dan pi I 7.5; dan di lahan tcgal adalah betckstur lempung berliat, dengan 34% liat 38% debu, 28% pasir, 0.55% C-organik, 0.09% N, dan pH 6.9. Perlakuan terdiri atas dua variclas tembakau madura (Prancak dan Berbedih) dan tiga taraf populasi tanaman (25 000, 33 000, dan 41 000 tanaman per ha). Perlakuan disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok faktorial, dengan empat ulangan. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa pada lahan gunung variclas Prancak memberikan hasil krosok dan kadar Cl daun yang lebih tinggi dan pada varietas Berbedih. telapi variclas Berbedih memberikan jumlah daun dan kadar nikotin yang lebih tinggi dari pada varietas Prancak. Sifat lain dari kedua varietas tersebut adalah sama. Peningkatan populasi tanam meningkatkan hasil daun rajangan dan krosok. telapi menurunkan ukuran lebar daun Sebagian besar sifat-sifat tembakau tidak terpengaruh oleh kenaikan populasi. Populasi tanam yang sesuai untuk lahan gunung adalah 41 000 tanaman/ha, atau dengan jarak tanam (90 cm x 45 cm)/2 x 45 cm. Pada lahan legal varietas Prancak memberikan hasil krosok yang lebih linggi dari pada varietas Berbedih, tetapi varietas Prancak lebih rendah dalam hal jumlah daun, kadar nikotin dan gula dari pada varietas Berbedih Sifal yang lainnya dari kedua varietas tersebut adalah sama. Peningkatan populasi lanam di lahan legal meningkatkan ukuran tinggi tanaman dan hasil krosok Sebagian besar sifat tembakau tidak terpengaruh oleh peningkatan populasi. The experiments aimed at obtaining promising hybid varieties of the madura tobacco. The yield potency, quality and stability of the hybrids were tested by using the method of yau and HAMBLIN (1994), which was based on lite highest average and the loweat standard deviation. Two promising hybrids, i.e. PIS and PXA had quality and crop indexes higher and had lower content of nicotine compared to that of Prancak 95, and they were more adaptive compared with Prancak-95. Bahan penelitian adalah hamparan kelapa hibrida PB 121 monokultur dan produktif dengan tahun tanam 1984/1985 seluas 5 ha. Jarak tanam 9 m x 9 m dengan sistem tanam segitiga sama sisi. Areal petanaman berada pada kctinggian 47 m diatas permukaan laut dengan curah hujan rata-rata 3 450 mm/tahun dan jenis tanah podsolik merah kuning dengan pH 6.0. Kegiatan studi dilakukan melalui dua tahapan. Petama dilakukan studi PRA untuk melakukan idcntifikasi daerah penelitian, keadaan sosial ekonomi petani dan tanaman sela yang prospektif unluk dijadikan sebagai tanaman sela. Kedua dari hasil studi PRA ditctapkan lima pola usaha tani berbasis kelapa untuk diuji dalam penelitian ini yaitu (1) pola usaha tani kelapa (monokultur, tradisional), (2) pola usaha tani kelapa + kelapa disadap (pola rakyat, tradisional), (3) pola usaha lani kelapa + disadap 30 pohon/ha - tanaman sela pisang satu baris, (4) pola usaha lani kelapa + disadap 30 pohon/ha - tanaman sela pisang dua baris dan (5) pola usaha tani kelapa + disadap 60 pohon/ha + tanaman sela pisang satu baris Masing- masing pola seluas satu hektar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola usaha tani kelapa (monokultur) dan pola usaha tani kelapa + disadap (pola pctani) tidak layak unluk diusahakan karena secara ckonomis tidak mengunlungkan. Hasil analisis kelayakan usaha tani diperoleh bahwa dari lima pola usaha tani berbasis kelapa yang diuji menunjukkan bahwa dua pola usaha lani yang mengunlungkan dan layak unluk diusahakan yailu petama pola usaha tani kelapa + disadap 30 pohon kelapa per hektar - tanaman sela pisang satu bais dengan nilai B/C ratio 1.23, NPV sebesar Rp. 3 319 690 dan IRR 42.24%. Kedua adalah pola usaha tani kelapa + disadap 60 pohon kelapa per hektar + lanaman sela pisang satu bais dengan nilai B/C ratio 1.44, NPV sebesar Rp. 9 096 815 dan IRR 69.36%. This method is neither efficient nor higienic, and it also causes high losses of the berries. To overcome those problems, an experiment was carried out to make an axial flow thresher. The experiment was conducted at Research Institute for Spice and Medicinal Crops from April to December 1999. The experiment consisted of three steps, namely designing, constructing and testing. The objective of testing was to determine the optimum operation condition of the thresher. The testing was designed as a completely randomized complete design with three replications. The raw material for testing was pepper berries (Lampung Daun Lebar variety) of 8 - 9 month old. The result showed that the optimum condition for threshing process was 300 rpm cylinder rotation, with the spike separation process using 7.5° sieve angle. The performance of pepper thresher on that condition was : threshing eficiency 98.55%, spikes separation eficiency 89.22%, berries on spikes outlet 5.20% and berries damage 6.30%. The capacity of thresher was 260.56 kg raw material/hour. To broaden genetic variability, newly growth shoot tips from in vitro culture of black pepper var. LDL were y irradiated with doses 0, 0.3 0.6, 0.9, 1.2 and 1.5 krad. The treatments were designed in a complete block with five replications. The irradiaed plantlets were grown on MS medium. Response of the variety is described by recording an increase in leaves, shoots and node, numbers, plantlet height, and morphological abnormality in the irst vegetative mutation generation (MVI) and the second vegetative mutation generation (MV2). Ater 6 weeks, the plantlets were sub cultured and the leaves of MV2 were used for RAPD analysis. Six random primers were used for the study, i.e. OPC-01 (TTCGAGC- CAG), OPC-02 (GTGAGGCGTC), OPC-04 (CCGCATCTAC), OPC-05 (GATGACCGCC), OPC-06 (GAACGGACTC) and Abi 117.17 (GCTC- GTCAAC). The results showed that the lowest averages value on the increase of leaves, shoots, nodes and plantlets height al MVI are resulted at dose 1.5 krad, whereas dose 0.3 krad increases averages value on shoots and plantlet height. The highest percentage of abnormal leaves is resulted at dose 1.2 krad. Ater subculture, the MV2 plantlets showed higher averages value for almost all parameters observed than the untreated plantlets. The number of score able bands varied from 2-5 bands with molecular weight 0.4-12 kb. Thirty three bands were detected from the six primers, with OPC-01, OPC-04 and OPC-06 showed polymorphisms with 8 (24%) polymorphic bands. In OPC-01 one band with DNA size 1 -1.5 kb was absence rom the treated plants at dose 0.9-1.5 krad, while with OPC- 04, one band size 1 5 kb present only at 1.2 krad and with OPC-06 one band size 12 kb absence from 0.6 and 0.9 krad, and 3-5 bands size 1.5, 1.8 and bands with size 3-12 kb disappeared at dose 1.2 and 1.5 krad. The appearance and disappearance of bands may be related to the genetic changes due to y irradiation, and further exploration may be needed to ind how much genetic variation induced by irradiation in ield and the relationships with the changes in plant characters.Key words: Piper nigrum L., mutation, irradiation, RAPD, genetic variation ABSTRAK Peningkatan keragaman genetik tanaman lada (Piper nigrum L.) dengan iradiasi sinar gammaKeragaman genetik plasma nutfah lada sempit, untuk meningkatkan keragaman genetik, mata tunas yang tumbuh dari biakan lada varietas LDL diradiasi dengan sinar y dengan dosis 0, 0.3 0.6, 0.9, 1.2, dan 1.5 krad. Untuk meningkatkan potensi produksinya, pertanaman jambu mente yang ada sebaiknya disambung dengan batang atas (entres) unggul.Teknik penyam- bungan dirumah atap sudah tersedia dengan hasil 90% - 95% sambungan hidup, sedangkan untuk penyambungan di lapangan baru dilakukan dengan metode sambung samping dengan keberhasilan 40%. Suatu penelitian telah dilakukan di Instalasi Penelitian Cikampek mulai Januari 2000 sampai dengan Januai 2001, dengan tujuan untuk menguji perlakuan topping, jumlah daun batang bawah dan waktu penyambungan yang terbaik untuk meningkatkan keberhasilan penyambungan jambu mente di lapangan Rancangannya adalah petak tcrpisah dengan 2 ulangan dan 32 sambungan/ perlakuan. Perlakuan yang diuji adalah (1) lopping (pembuangan pucuk batang bawah), sebagai petak utama, terdii atas (al) tanpa topping, dan (a2) topping; (2) jumlah daun pada batang bawah dan waktu penyambungan, sebagai anak petak, terdiri atas : (bl) 2 daun, disambungpukul 08.00-11.00, (b2) 2 daun, disambung pukul 1 1.00-13 00, (b3) 2 daun, disambung pukul 13.00-15.00, (M) 4 daun, disambung pukul 08.00-11.00, (b5) 4 daun, disambung pukul 11.00-13.00, (b6) 4 daun, disambung, pukul 13.00-15.00. Topping dilakukan 7 hai sebelum penyambungan. Sebagai batang bawah digunakan tunas-tunas yang tumbuh dai pangkal batang mente jenis Pecangaan yang ditebang pada tinggi I m. Batang atas diambil dai pohon unggul jenis Balakrisnan-02. Parameter yang diamati adalah jumlah sambungan yang hidup, pertumbuhan tunas, dan jumlah daun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya interaksi yang nyata dari perlakuan terhadap semua parameter. Interaksi terbaik diperoleh pada topping dengan 4 helai daun pada batang bawah dan waktu penyambungan pukul 08.00 - 11.00, dengan jumlah sambungan hidup, pertumbuhan tunas dan jumlah daun tetinggi, masing-masing 86.36% ; 27 cm ; dan 14 daun, sedangkan hasil terendah ditunjukkan oleh interaksi tanpa topping dengan 2 helai daun pada batang bawah dan waktu penyambungan pukul 1 3 00-15.00, dengan 10% sambungan hidup, petumbuhan tunas 12 cm, dan 5 helai daun.Kata kunci: Anacardium occidentale L, topping, teknik penyambungan, produktivitas ABSTRACTEffect of topping, number of leaves and time of grafting on the success of cashew grafting at ield conditionsThe low productivity of cashew plantation in Indonesia, average 350 kg pods/ha, is among others caused by low quality of the cashew plants developed from seedlings. Kenaf merupakan tanaman semusim berumur 120 hari yang sesuai dirolasi dengan padi dan jagung. Penelitian rotasi kenaf dengan padi dan jagung dilaksanakan di Desa Canggu, Kecamatan Pare, Kabupaten Kediri pada musim tanam 1992/1993 sampai dengan 1994/1995 pada tanah regosol cokelat keabuan Tinggi tempat 70 meter di atas permukaan air laut dengan tipe iklim C3 menurut sistem klasiikasi Oldeman Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh rotasi tanaman kenaf dengan tanaman padi dan jagung terhadap peningkatan hasil padi dan jagung setelah lanaman kenaf seta perubahan ciri-ciri tanah tetentu sepeti kandungan C, N dan KTK di lahan irigasi Perlakuan disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok yang diulang sebanyak tiga kali. Seluruh perlakuan ada 12 macam rotasi. Ukuran petak 14 m x 10 m. Padi yang ditanam varietas IR-64, jagung varietas CPI dan kenaf He. G4. Jarak tanam padi, jagung dan kenaf beturut-turut 20 cm x 20 cm; 75 cm x 30 cm dan 20 cm x 15 cm Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa frekuensi penanaman kenaf dapat meningkatkan kesuburan tanah yang meliputi C-organik. N-total dan KTK tanah, baik pada tahun petama maupun pada tahun petama dan kedua. Hasil padi pada tahun petama tanpa kenaf, satu dan dua kali tanam kenaf sebelum padi masing-masing sebesar 5.19, 5.25, dan 6.24 ton/ha. Pada tahun petama dan kedua tanpa tanam kenaf dua dan liga kali tanam kenaf sebelum padi, masing-masing sebesar 4 68, 4.98, dan 5.23 ton/ha. Hasil jagung pada tahun petama tanpa kenaf dan satu kali tanam kenaf sebelum jagung, masing-masing sebesar 3.70 dan 4 47 ton/ha.Kata kunci: Kenaf, rotasi tanaman, padi, jagung, irigasi, kesuburan tanah ABSTRACTEffect of kenaf rotation on paddy and corn yieldThe fetility status of soil could be improved through the application of organic matter, fresh green plant or crop rotation practices. An experiment on kenaf-paddy-com rotalion was conducted ai Canggu Village, Pare Sub District, Kediri District from 1992/1993 to 1994/1995 on grey brown regosol. The altitude was 70 m above sea level, and the climate type was C3 according to Oldeman classiication. The purpose of the study was to know the effect of kenaf rotation on paddy and com yields and some soil characteristic change ater kenaf planting in irrigalcd land. The cxperimenl was arranged in a randomized block design with three replications. All treatments consisted of 12 kinds of rotations. Plot size was 14 m x 10 m. The variety of paddy, com, and kenaf used in this experiment were IR-64, CPI and He G4 respectively. The plant spacing were 20 cm x 20 cm; 75 cm x 30 cm and 20 cm x 15 cm respectively. The result indicated that the frequency of growing kenaf enhanced C- organic, Total-N and CEC status. Penelitian ini betujuan untuk memperoleh galur-galur unggul yang dapat beradaptasi dengan lingkungan pengembangan wijen dengan produktivitas tinggi. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak kelompok dengan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan tcrdiri dari 12 galur harapan yaitu SI.14, SI.16, SI.18, SI 20, SI.21, SI.24, SI.25, SI.26, S1.28, SI.31, SI.13, SI.40, dan sebagai pembanding digunakan 2 varietas komersial yaitu Sumberrejo 1 dan Sumberrejo 2. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 4 galur unggul yaitu galur SI.14, SI.16, SI.18, SI.24 potensi hasil sama dengan varietas Sbr. I mempunyai adaptasi luas (galur stabil). Empat galur lainnya dapat bcrproduksi tinggi apabila ditanam pada kondisi lingkungan sesuai (spesifik lokasi). Galur SI. 21 dan SI 25 sesuai untuk daerah Nganjuk dan Sragen, galur SI 20 untuk daerah Bojonegoro dan Nganjuk, dan SI 28 untuk daerah Lumajang.Kata kunci : Wijen, Sesamum indicum L., galur, hasil, spesifik lokasi ABSTRACT Yield Stabibity of Sesame LinesThe experiment was conducted at four locations of sesame development area, viz. Lumajang, Bojonegoro, Nganjuk and Sragen districts, in 2003 planting seasons. The aim of this experiment was to find out the sesame lines having high productictivity and suitable for the development areas. Twelve promising lines, namely SI.14, SI.16, SI.18, SI.20, SI.21, SI.24, SI.25, SI.26, SI.28, SI.3I, SI.13, SI.40, and two control varieties (Sumberrejo 1 and Sumbenejo 2) were evaluated in randomized block design with three replications. The result of this experimental found out 4 superior lines (SI 14, SI 16, SI 18, and SI 24) that have the same potential as Sbr I variety, gave broad adaption to all locations (stable lines). Nevertheless the other four lines evaluated showed as the specific location lines.
