This interleaving is frequency-dependent as it differs for each OFDM subcarrier and is time-varying in the sense that the interleaving scheme adapts to channel variations over time. Both optimal and suboptimal methods are developed to this end. Computer simulations show the merit of the proposed methods for different configurations.","PeriodicalId":177645,"journal":{"name":"Radio and Wireless Conference, 2003. RAWCON '03. The resonance characteristics could be significantly improved by the thermal annealing and using the Co as the electrodes in FBAR devices. The FBAR devices with the Bragg reflectors annealed at 400/spl deg/C/30 min show excellent resonance characteristics in term of the return loss and Q-factor.","PeriodicalId":177645,"journal":{"name":"Radio and Wireless Conference, 2003. While meeting many transmitter and receiver specifications, designing a low-cost, efficient and portable system covering this whole design space becomes infeasible. Therefore we developed a methodology that translates this multitude of requirements into a system covering a part of the design space, but still attractive from an application point of view and with an optimal performance/cost-ratio. As a result, we show that there is only a limited set of applications that can be covered by a 5-GHz wireless LAN mobile terminal with 16 dBm average output power. Instead a mobile terminal with 23 dBm average output power can work in more scenarios. Further we show that implementing a more efficient power amplifier architecture has limited impact on the system efficiency in the 16-dBm system-on-chip (SoC) case, however this becomes crucial for integration of a 23-dBm mobile terminal using a system-in-a-package (SiP) approach.","PeriodicalId":177645,"journal":{"name":"Radio and Wireless Conference, 2003. For wideband DOA estimation, we focus on spectral-based methods using arbitrary antenna array. For wideband beamforming, time-domain processing and frequency-domain processing methods, which produce frequency-invariant beam response over wide signal bandwidth, are introduced. The method for design of wideband beamforming using spatial interpolation, which can reduce number of array elements and prescribe beampatterns, will be also presented.","PeriodicalId":177645,"journal":{"name":"Radio and Wireless Conference, 2003. This two-stage power amplifier has only one power-stage in common for the triple bands to achieve a small chip and module size for low manufacturing cost. In order to reduce quiescent current for cellular band, the band selecting circuit to control bias current is used to the power-stage amplifier. This power amplifier has the power gain of 30 dB (26 dB, 25 dB) for cellular (PCS, W-CDMA) band and power-added efficiency (PAE) of 43% at the output of 28 dBm for cellular band under 3.4 V operation voltage.","PeriodicalId":177645,"journal":{"name":"Radio and Wireless Conference, 2003. Packet combining is well suited for wireless LANs since it provides a diversity gain to the system that can reduce the interference problem and enhance the system performance. Performance results show that a receiver employing packet combining provides significant gains in throughput and reductions in packet error probability when compared to with a receiver that does not employ combining. It is also found that for large packet sizes the gain is greater than for smaller packet sizes, because errors are more likely to occur in the header than in the data.","PeriodicalId":177645,"journal":{"name":"Radio and Wireless Conference, 2003.
