We also demonstrate how these phenomena can be used to develop a delay analysis. Hence, one can use these phenomena to analyze different heterogeneous NoC architectures and traffic scenarios, which cannot be analyzed by any existing NoC delay analysis. Further details about these phenomena and the delay evaluation methodology can be found in [1].","PeriodicalId":177385,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 27th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126297523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The EV-ED system is comprised of two electric machines coupled mechanically. The traction motor is a 10 hp Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM); it is controlled by means of a vector control. The motor is mechanically coupled to a similar motor which is used as a load machine. An electrodynamometer was implemented by using the load machine which was fed by two DC/AC converters connected by the DC bus allowing bidirectional power flow. The electrodynamometer is controlled by means of National Instruments electronic board and LabView software. Several load profiles and inertias were programmed to emulate an Electric Vehicle (EV). The motor drive was implemented with a PP75T120 Powerex Inverter. PWM generation and control strategy were implemented on a MC56F8357 Freescale Digital Signal Controller (DSC). The speed motor-control was validated for different driving cycles. Matlab/Simulink simulations of the motor control and electrodynamometer along with experimental results illustrating the response of the motor control under the characteristic load profile of an EV are presented and analyzed. Acceleration and regenerative break stages are discussed broadly.","PeriodicalId":177385,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 27th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125496074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The circuit is implemented solely with low-cost non-inductive passive components. The targeted application is for cases in which the source of the floating transistors (N or P type) can be connected to DC buses. Design guidelines are introduced, including design considerations that were developed and verified experimentally. The inexpensive implementation is shown to introduce negligibly small losses, making it energy-efficient and cost-effective, surpassing existing flotation solutions since neither active nor inductive devices are needed.","PeriodicalId":177385,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 27th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125787602","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent work, TACO outperformed two state-of-the-art transductive learning algorithms on several natural language processing tasks. However, although TACO is a general-purpose algorithm, it has not yet been used for tasks in other domains, nor applied to graphs with millions of vertices. We show its effectiveness, as well as its scalability, by performing transductive phoneme classification on data from the TIMIT speech corpus. In addition, we experiment with two methods for graph construction, including local scaling, previously used for unsupervised clustering. Our results show that local scaling combined with TACO outperforms other combinations of graph construction methods and graph-based transductive algorithms.","PeriodicalId":177385,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 27th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127094535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Maximum Likelihood estimator for the emitter location requires the minimization of a non-convex cost function. Since this cost function exhibits numerous local minima, its global minimization is usually realized by means of a grid search and is therefore computationally expensive. In this document, we prove three novel theoretical properties of RSS-based cost functions for Maximum Likelihood localization. First, we show that local maxima of RSS-based cost functions occur at receivers locations. Thus, unlike local minima, the locations of local maxima are a-priori known since the receivers locations are known. Second, we show that the smallest local maximum is necessarily closer to the global minimum than any other local minimum. Third, we show that the global minimum of the non-convex cost function lies within a triangular area defined by the smallest local maxima. Combining these theoretical facts, we propose a procedure for delimiting a small geographical area that contains the global minimum of the cost function, with high probability. Therefore, localization can be achieved by grid search over this reduced area only, which significantly reduces computational costs.","PeriodicalId":177385,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 27th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129610756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, there is an effort to extend the performance bounds, as well as the Gaussian approximation (dispersion) beyond point-to-point settings. This proves to be a difficult task, as the performance may be governed by multiple dependent constraints. In this work we shed light on these difficulties, using the multiple-access channel as a test case. We show that a local notion of dispersion is more informative than that of dispersion regions sought after thus far. On the positive side, we show that for channels possessing certain symmetry, the dispersion problem reduces to the single-user one. Furthermore, for such channels, linear codes enable to translate single-user achievability bounds to the multiple-access channel.","PeriodicalId":177385,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 27th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132468550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some virtual keyboards give vibration feedback; some are projected on the typing surface, while others give different kind of visual feedback such as showing it on a smart phone's screen. The user “presses” the virtual keys thus typing the desired input text. In this work we have implemented a single standard camera-based virtual keyboard, by improving shadow-based touch detection. The proposed solution is applicable to any surface. The system has been implemented on an Android phone, operates in real time, and gives excellent results.","PeriodicalId":177385,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 27th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132895164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For successful implementation of these processes in industry, the Silicon Nano Wires (SiNW) with widths of 5-25 nm should be characterized in the framework of Secondary Electron Microscope(CD SEM) Metrology. Different smoothing processes yield SiNWs with edge roughness values in the sub nanometer range[1]. Such small differences in roughness values provide an interesting opportunity to evaluate sensitivity of the SEM metrology algorithms and measurement accuracy. A simulation program modeling SEM images including small features was developed, taking into account the main factors that affect the SEM signal formation. Synthetic (simulated) images of SiNW in a range of 5-25 nm and roughness of 0-1 nm were produced. Using synthetic images with added Line Edge Roughness (LER), we characterized the performance and sensitivity of LER algorithms and CD metrics.","PeriodicalId":177385,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 27th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116151340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
