BER performance is highlighted as parameters of coding rates for 256- and 1024-QAM in the presence of EVM degradation. Using these results, we clarify the relation of spectral efficiency and channel quality, such as Eb/No, to meet a BER of 10-2 for 64-, 256- and 1024-QAM from the link adaptation perspective. This will be useful for deciding an allowable EVM for each QAM and provide an effective way to help resource management in future mobile systems such as small cells.","PeriodicalId":177383,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Wireless and Mobile","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125488250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However it suffers from poor accuracy. This paper presents a novel algorithm to enhance the accuracy of this algorithm. The idea is to use the DV-Hop algorithm to estimate positions of the anchors which are already known. The estimation errors so obtained are then minimized through an optimization algorithm which finds the optimum correction to the hop size. The locations of the unknown nodes are then estimated with the modified hop size using least squares estimation. We examine the performance of the algorithm for varying node numbers, anchor ratios and radio range. The results show that the proposed algorithm has better performances in localization precision and stability than the original DV-Hop algorithm.","PeriodicalId":177383,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Wireless and Mobile","volume":"2008 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125953261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to realize the high power added efficiency (PAE), impedance matching circuit is calculated by using the load-pull method. In this case, output impedance of the PA is different from 50 ohm. Our proposed 5 GHz class-A PA matched to the impedance of maximum PAE is designed. This PA has 9.82 dB of gain and 20.2 % of PAE which is 1.8 point larger than that of 50 ohm impedance matched PA. This PA is fabricated on the 0.18 um CMOS technology and measured the RF properties.","PeriodicalId":177383,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Wireless and Mobile","volume":"330 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115875312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Within SON, this paper aims to optimize the Neighbour Cell List (NCL) for Long Term Evolution (LTE) evolved NodeBs (eNBs). An algorithm composed by three decisions were were developed: distance-based, Radio Frequency (RF) measurement-based and Handover (HO) stats-based. The distance-based decision, proposes a new NCL taking account the eNB location and interference tiers, based in the quadrants method. The last two algorithms consider signal strength measurements and HO statistics, respectively; they also define a ranking to each eNB and neighbour relation addition/removal based on user defined constraints. The algorithms were developed and implemented over an already existent radio network optimization professional tool. Several case studies were produced using real data from a Portuguese LTE mobile operator.","PeriodicalId":177383,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Wireless and Mobile","volume":"226 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122615031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the suitability of existing rural mesh technologies in industrialized countries and how it fits emerging remote areas in developing countries is in doubt. While the architectures are similar; subtle technical differences impact mesh performances of rural deployments in developing countries. In this paper, the research focus describes generic rural settings via the taxonomy of the domains' characteristic. The authors present a survey of a few IEEE 802.11-based rural WMNs deployments in real-life scenarios over a decade between 2003 and 2013. In particular, the study offers an evaluation and critical analysis of a few design components of these deployments. Finally, it identifies a plethora of common patterns, technical variations, challenges and unique features as well as some future directions to improve the reliability and resilience of WMN deployments in rural Africa.","PeriodicalId":177383,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Wireless and Mobile","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129511502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cournot economic game model is based on quantity and it is appropriate because, there are fewer TV transmitters in rural areas and hence, lots of TVWS spectrum channels per footprint. The robustness of the proposed model is that, it takes into account the unique SINR requirements of both PU and CSNs. While simultaneously, maintaining the key functionalities of heterogeneous coexistence framework. Contrary to the norm that, as PU continues to sell their licensed spectrum, revenue is maximized. Rather, it was discovered by way of simulations, such assumption never hold. However, Cournot point is simulated in which PU can maximize both revenue and QoS. In spectrum auction, an arbitrator is required to act as a spectrum broker, we propose the use of existing TVWS standards for this purpose. Thus, enabling coexistence between PUs and TVWS networks.","PeriodicalId":177383,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Wireless and Mobile","volume":"264 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132613510","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We implement the architecture in virtualized IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) servers and compare the proposed caching scheme against the conventional memory synchronization approach. Results show a 12.5% reduction in the CPU usage overhead and network usage is drastically reduced as well. This is the prediction model to be proposed that targets a microcell. For practical use, a model requires parameters such as the base station height, angle of the sloped area, and distance from the base station to the sloped area. The proposed model uses a correction method based on the characteristics of the base station height to predict the path loss of the sloped area based on the path loss of flat terrain. The proposed model is verified based on measurements of a scale model and real environments. A 1/70 scale model is constructed of a residential area and the path losses are measured at 10.5 GHz. In real environments, the path losses are measured at 902 MHz. The measurement results show that the path losses predicted using the proposed model are close to the measured results.","PeriodicalId":177383,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Wireless and Mobile","volume":"97 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120852911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
