One of the most powerful video codec isH.264/AVC. The description of the Main Profile H.264implementation on a DM648 digital signal processor isaimed in this paper. The encoder has been written intwo phases, C-coded software on a desktop computerand the optimized one, which is appropriate for the DSPplatform. Memory and cache tuning methods includingalgorithm parallelism were utilized in this process.Additional fast intra coding mode selection alsoexploited. Valve stiction may cause oscillations in control loops which increases variability in product quality, accelerates equipment wear and tear, or leads to system instability. To help understand and study the behavior of sticky valve, several valve stiction models have been proposed in the literature. In this paper, a black box Neural Network-based modeling approach is proposed to model valve stiction. In this surveillance system, the omnidirectional scenes in a room, kitchen, car porch, dining hall, corridor, garage or backyard within a digital home are first captured using a web camera attached to a hyperbolic optical mirror. The captured scenes are then fed into a laptop computer for image processing and alarm purposes. Log-polar mapping is proposed to map the captured omnidirectional image into panoramic image, hence providing the observer or image processing tools a complete wide angle of view. A trespasser detection algorithm is also designed for trespasser detection purpose. It is based on the invocationof deformation operators which imitate the deformationsexpected to be observed when a landslide occurs. Thesimilarity between two images is measured by a similarityfunction which takes into consideration value of mutualinformation, geometric deformation and maximumoverlapping area between the two images. A map of landslideareas is created by using the amount of pixel movement duringa registration process. This map is then thresholded in order toproduce map of change and unchanged areas. The conditionallogic statement of change and unchanged conditions isimplemented in order to produce the same type of map. Bothmaps are then compared for its consistency. Aninnovative method is presented to extract the iris featuresbased on texture analysis. The algorithm was evaluated usingCASIA iris image database version 1.0 [1]. Experimentalresults show that the approach has achieved high accuracy of98.62%. The iris verification algorithm is designed to suit for DSP implementation. Templates are encoded in binary format because they are compact in size and can avoid the visibility of the individual iris images. The binary templates can be stored and processed effectively using DSP technology. The iris verification system is realized on state-of-the-art Analog Devices ADSP-BF561 to achieve fast verification performance. In this paper, it proposes a new method to determine the reliability coefficient of the information source by information criterion. With calculating the reliabilities of information sources, the more reliable source would be used in the combination process to improve the recognition rate.
