What Coast: resort or resource? 什么是海岸：度假胜地还是资源？

On this threshold, dune landscapes are particular sensitive environments, in constant movement and transformation. Conservation measures have been implemented to regulate intervention on such sites, mainly concerning the safeguarding of primary dunes, but little consideration has been given to the in-depth structure of these ecosystems. With the pressure of seaside tourism development, the remaining untouched dune areas are facing serious threat. In Portugal, many have recently lost their classification as part of the National Ecologic Reserve (REN), since 2006 defined by proposal of each municipality. Grândola, in the district of Setúbal, is at the center of present environmental concerns, with 7 new mega luxury resorts predicted for the Tróia Peninsula and Comporta’s seafront, 4 of them partially on primary dune and 4 comprising the construction of extensive golf courses. Towards the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the focus should be on protecting the existing biodiversity, as part of the Natura 2000 network, and promoting the balanced use of local natural resources, in particular in an area of severe water shortage. However, they exhibit a number of operational shortcomings due to the time of their construction and the very nature of exhibition architecture intended originally only for seasonal use. Estos jardines no son meros espacios de recreo, sino lugares de la vida humana en toda su complexidad, representando entonces la combinación ideal de ciudad y vegetación, hombre y naturaleza. En el siglo XX algunas investigaciones y proyectos han tratado de materializar alternativas a las ciudades actuales basadas - de diferentes maneras - en el antiguo ideal del jardín.Frente a la nueva emergencia de urbanización de la población mundial, recientes políticas urbanas demuestran posibles estrategias para cambiar el destino de la ciudad mediante la introducción de la naturaleza en el espacio publico. Además, a partir del estudio de algunas experiencias contemporáneas es posible reconocer huellas de un innovador enfoque orgánico al diseño, la posibilidad de una coherencia espacial y la interdependencia arquitectura-naturaleza necesaria para la construcción de un efectivo ecosistema. Su principal característica es que alcanza la madurez en el nuevo milenio. Está abocada a vivir y diseñar el futuro inmediato. Esta evidencia ha hecho que se intenten definir sus claves a partir de estudios estadísticos. El interés radica en que nos encontramos ante una generación aparentemente indescifrable para las generaciones anteriores, pues ha nacido en el mundo global, conectada a la revolución digital y sacudida por sucesivas crisis. Simultáneamente, se ha despertado la alarma ante el fenómeno de despoblamiento de determinados territorios y muchas administraciones y colectivos tratan de hallar fórmulas para frenarlo. Se han llevado a cabo diferentes ensayos en estos asentamientos en las últimas décadas: desde la renaturalización, agricultura local, comunidades neorrurales, turismo... hasta recuperación local. La emergente recuperación de asentamientos despoblados por antiguos habitantes ilustra un fenómeno interesante en territorios rurales bajo la amenaza de encogimiento y de presión turística. Nuestro análisis espacial del actual proceso de recuperación en el estudio de caso de Jánovas identifica estrategias efectivas de la comunidad local. La emergente comunidad se reúne en torno al objetivo común de volver a habitar su pueblo, reconectándolo con su territorio, poniendo al día el asentamiento mediante los espacios y servicios colectivos necesarios, y adaptando de forma sensible los espacios patrimoniales para acoger de forma sustentable a los recién llegados a la comunidad local. It is currently the third largest urban area in Africa, trailing behind Cairo and Lagos, respectively. The constructions of spatialities, and under the notion of terra nullius and extreme otherness in post-colonial Africa, worsened the challenges of rapid and uncontrolled urban growth. The paper provides insights on how the successive political events on the African continent shaped the manifestations of contemporary spatialities and potential pathways to reverse the trend. A review of planning approaches in Nigeria was conducted, starting from colonial cantonments to current epoch of extreme uncertainty, and through the lens of Onitsha markets spatialities. The markets in Onitsha reveal emergent forms of spatialities in response to the extreme otherness and uncertainty in the city. The paper presents arguments on the need to rethink the current architecture, urban design, and planning practices and pedagogies beyond alterity, while embracing the complexity of post-colonial urban Africa. Para abordar esta cuestión, el artículo parte de una aproximación al problema del aumento de población planetario, y de una reflexión sobre su impacto sobre el territorio. La distribución poblacional sobre el mismo es desigual por múltiples razones, y el documento atiende a sus lógicas para desentrañar sus derivadas y valorar la dualidad campo-ciudad y los conceptos de concentración y dispersión. Los nuevos embates de los avances tecnológicos y las dinámicas económicas globales suponen a menudo estímulos que derivan en disfunciones territoriales, acentuadas además por las crisis socioambientales. Una mirada crítica sobre estos problemas permite hacer algunas reflexiones y sugerencias que pueden incidir sobre determinados aspectos específicos para plantear posibles estrategias orientadas hacia nuevas territorialidades. Només així podrem afrontar un demà amb capacitat suficient per aportar solucions al territori i equilibrar els moviments de la població. While on the one hand, the possibility of establishing new connections, thanks to the advent of a technological process, has helped to ideally overcome certain boundaries, on the other hand, physical boundaries have become more rigid, marked, and increasingly populated by people who remain excluded from these changes.
