Many such renewable based off-grid power systems working mostly in India and Africa are generating power which are not at par with grid power. The control of power among different renewable sources while maintaining the power quality of supply, is important for the reliable and sustainable operation of these off grid systems. This paper proposes a power sharing scheme using instantaneous symmetrical component theory (ISCT) among two parallel inverters and a biomass gasifier engine alternator (BGEA). In the proposed scheme, the reactive, harmonic and unbalance in the load power are always supplied by one photovoltaic (PV) inverter, while the active power is shared between two inverters and a biomass gasifier engine. This power sharing control increases the power reliability and power quality of village hybrid power systems. A simulation study of the proposed system has been carried out and the results are presented.","PeriodicalId":176197,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computation of Power, Energy, Information and Communication (ICCPEIC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129323106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The examination is conducted for resistive and inductive loads by theoretical estimate of the current harmonic content at the ac utility and load. Sinusoidal pulse-width modulation (SPWM) in the ac chopper provides output voltage with symmetrical half cycles that comprise symmetrical pulses with widths and magnitudes proportional to the amplitude of the sinusoidal reference signal. It has two control parameters; the amplitude modulation index (m) and the frequency modulation ratio (p). MATLAB simulation data and results prove that manipulation of m and p alters the harmonic profile of the line and load currents substantially and, therefore, can be used for harmonic mitigation and selective elimination. Thus, cost-effective and compact current harmonic filters can be designed using the SPWM technique.","PeriodicalId":176197,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computation of Power, Energy, Information and Communication (ICCPEIC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129034440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To simplify the task, novel system first constructs correct contrast to the image. Correct contrast to be constructed, based on the local maximum minimum algorithm process's result. Then find text edge stroke detection which lies on high contrast pixel in dark region by canny edge detection method and Otsu's method. After that, calculate local threshold value for the document image, and comparing each pixel with threshold value level, give result as `0' or `1'. Hence it is called binarization technique. The proposed multilevel inverter has the advantages of less harmonics in the output and low torque ripples. The switching table direct torque control scheme is adopted due to the simplicity of the control algorithm. The PI speed controller is used in the outer loop. To demonstrate the performance of proposed multilevel inverter fed direct torque control, the simulations are carried out for constant speed under constant load, constant speed under step change in load and step change speed under constant load conditions and the results are presented. PI controller is one among the existing control schemes. This scheme has a single loop arrangement with proportional and integral gains in the forward path. A double loop control strategy having proportional gain in the feedback path and integral gain in the forward path called the Integral Proportional - IP controller is proposed in this paper for Buck converter control. The use of IP controller enhances system dynamic response and reduces undesirable peak overshoot compared to conventional PI controllers. IP controller also reduces system's sensitivity to controller gains. Responses of both controllers are analyzed by performing output voltage regulation of Buck Converter with the help of PSIM software. Simulation results show that the IP controller has better response than PI. Such a control arrangement is essential in applications, where a smooth power output is inevitable.","PeriodicalId":176197,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computation of Power, Energy, Information and Communication (ICCPEIC)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114245841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Austenitic stainless steel welding is an integral part of the Indian nuclear components and ultrasonic non-destructive testing technique (NDT) plays a major role in testing the integrity of the weld joints. The concept of manual ultrasonic testing (UT) of defects/flaws/discontinuities has now been replaced by computerization, automation and mechanization concepts. Remote ultrasonic NDT inspection assumes great dimension in the industrial system and in particular testing of pressure vessels made of several weld joints. Identification of weld centre line is very important is very important in flaw evaluation in the weld joints particularly while carrying out remote ultrasonic testing of pressure vessels. Recently, successful attempts are being made in applying machine learning techniques for accurate flaw detection, sizing and location of weld joints. In this work, a 42 mm thick single “V” butt weld joint was fabricated and A-scan ultrasonic signals (time domain signals) were acquired at the weld centre and across the weld joint at the 5 mm distance interval and stored for further analysis using Decision tree algorithm. Critically refracted longitudinal (Lcr) wave probe at 2 MHz was used for this purpose. Decision tree algorithm which is an artificial Intelligence technique, classified under supervised machine learning algorithms, was used for training the acquired A-scan data and to reliably identify the centre line in the weld region for the purpose finding flaw location during remote ultrasonic testing. The developed procedure/ technique is first of its kind, simple to use and straight forward and useful for identifying the weld centre line and for accurate flaw location in the weld regions during ultrasonic testing of ASS weld joints.","PeriodicalId":176197,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computation of Power, Energy, Information and Communication (ICCPEIC)","volume":"498 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116031599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
