In this paper, dynamic behaviour of spectro-directional reflectance properties of wheat canopy has been studied using radiometric measurements performed over a wheat field during the entire crop life cycle under varying viewing geometries. The study reveals that biological growth rhythm of wheat crop associated with continuous alteration in canopy condition particularly in terms of optical and morphological properties during the life cycle results in a distinct and systematic changing pattern of bidirectional responses in red and near Infrared (NIR). Analysis shows appreciable sensitivity of radiometric measurements both in the red and NIR regions to crop phenological transformation and changes. Soil background influenced the overall angular anisotropy pattern and manifested relatively high surface reflectance specifically at the early growth stage. At this stage, changes in viewing direction give rise to additional variability in directional reflectance due to varying proportion of soil-vegetation and enhanced contrast between wheat crop and its soil background. Both amplitude and angular pattern of directional response of the canopy undergo appreciable changes with time. Asymmetry in directional reflectance has been noticed in both the spectral regions on either side of nadir in the principal plane. In this connection, time varying angular characteristics of normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) has also been studied in relation to crop growth.","PeriodicalId":176110,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environment and Geoinformatics","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122586615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been used to carry out Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) of various geomorphic factors by assigning weight based on the presumed impact of each factors on flooding. This study considered six factors which include; Slope, curvature, landcover, elevation, distance from river and soil using Rafinsenyi river in Chanchaga Local Government area, Minna-Nigeria, as study area. Review of literatures showed that methods of assigning weight are hypothetical and inconsistent, this research thus take input from researchers in field of hydraulics, hydrology and disaster management. The weight with 0.029 as the least consistency ratio was used. Data used include; DGPS data, Satellite Images, Digital Soil Data. Landcover Maps, Digital Elevation Models (DEM), Soil Maps and Profile Curvature maps were generated. Weighted overlay operation was carried out in ArcGIS to produce a Flood Risk Map. Livisol (Loam) soil reveals why farmers and traders indiscriminately settle along floodplain. 6 of the 20 hectares of study area lies between 216 and 220 metres above mean sea level, putting residential building at high risk of flooding.","PeriodicalId":176110,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environment and Geoinformatics","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133797996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study presents the determination of orthometric heights of points using gravimetric/GPS and geodetic levelling approaches and compares the resolution of the two approaches to determine which of the methods is better for orthometric height determination in the study area. A total of 59 stations were occupy for gravity observation using Lacoste and Romberg (G-512 series) gravimeter to obtain the absolute gravity values of the points. GNSS observation was carried out in static mode using South GNSS receivers to obtain the positions and ellipsoidal heights of the points. The modified Stokes’ integral was applied to obtain the geoid heights of the points. Similarly, levelling was carried out using the geodetic level to obtain the level heights of the points. The orthometric correction was applied to the geodetic levelling results to obtain precise level heights of the points. The RMSE index was applied to compute the accuracy of the geoid models. The computed result shows that orthometric heights can be obtained in the study area using the two models with an accuracy of 0.3536m. Z-test was carried out to determine if there is any significant difference between the two methods. The test results show that statistically, there is no significant difference between the two methods. Hence, the two methods can be applied for orthometric heights determination in the study area.","PeriodicalId":176110,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environment and Geoinformatics","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131019211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
