Manually adaptive scaffolding is labor-intensive and time-consuming, and Intelligent Tutoring Systems focus on the process of adaptive learning content and paths, not the SRL. Therefore, this paper proposes a Self-Regulated Learning System with Rule-based Learning Diagnostic Scheme (SRLS-RLDS) to automatically support adaptive scaffoldings for students in an HLE/OELE, where a rule-based approach and concept ontology is used to model teachers' diagnostic knowledge to help students regulate their learning. The proposed SRLS-RLDS was applied to a case of software learning, and the experimental results showed that students who studied with SRLS-RLDS adaptive scaffoldings had significantly higher post-test scores than those who studied without adaptive scaffoldings. Moreover, all students agreed that the proposed SRLS-RLDS scheme can effectively help them concentrate on learning content and to better understand the domain knowledge in their self-regulated learning processes.","PeriodicalId":174849,"journal":{"name":"2014 7th International Conference on Ubi-Media Computing and Workshops","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121024323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The APP is divided into two parts: map module and augmented reality (AR) module. The map module enables people to search the hot springs' information and their corresponding positions by combining the application with the use of Google Map. The AR module uses the point of interest (POI) with two-dimensional virtual image in the real scene that allows people find the location. In addition, we provide the Quick Response code (QR code) for each of the POI, which assists the users to link to the original website of Yilan hot spring by scanning the QR code. The APP also provides the function of camera that allows its users to capture the photos and record the videos in this APP. By using this Mobile AR APP, people can search the information about Yilan hot spring anywhere and anytime.","PeriodicalId":174849,"journal":{"name":"2014 7th International Conference on Ubi-Media Computing and Workshops","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115270433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kansei Engineering (KE) is a challenging customer-oriented technology for product development in the intelligent age. It should not only translate the humans' feeling into design specifications, but also share classified design knowledge and integrate design features to get a new design scheme automatically. In this paper, an ontology-based systematic approach is proposed to establish a Kansei Engineering System (KES). The approach is based on a hierarchical ontology model and a feature combination mechanism. In our ontology model, design elements and items are divided into several hierarchies according to the expertise and the results of statistical analysis. The source data is from Kansei Evaluation Experiment. The classification of design features is used to decide the priority during feature selection and combination. In the present study, the hierarchical model is applied to establish an intelligent system for card design to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":174849,"journal":{"name":"2014 7th International Conference on Ubi-Media Computing and Workshops","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117268469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is therefore crucial to accurately estimate the node energy consumption throughout the WSN design phases, particularly in the network layout optimization. In this paper, the node energy consumption is estimated with a discrete-event network simulation that provides realistic estimation values by capturing the dynamics of wireless communication protocols. A non-trivial WSN simulation requires a significant amount of time which can adversely affect the overall result of the layout optimization. Therefore, the network is simulated with a balanced simulation granularity to achieve high estimation accuracy and low computational complexity. A case study of Structural Health Monitoring is conducted to evaluate the discrete-event simulation approach. We compare the optimization results with those obtained in a previous work where the network energy consumption is obtained via simple communication models.","PeriodicalId":174849,"journal":{"name":"2014 7th International Conference on Ubi-Media Computing and Workshops","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115201138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
