Understanding how the customers behave is crucial and is considered as one of the key drivers of business success. To the best of our knowledge, a data-driven approach to analyze the customer journey is still missing. For instance, web analytics tools like Google Analytics provide an oversimplified version of the user behavior, focusing more on the frequency of page visits rather than discovering the process of the visit itself. On the other hand, customer journey maps have shown their usefulness, but they need to be created manually by domain experts. This paper contributes a novel approach for applying process mining techniques to web log customer journey analysis. Through process mining we are able to (i) discover the process that better describes the user behavior, (ii) find useful insights, (iii) compare the processes of different clusters of users, and then (iv) use this analysis to improve the journey by optimizing some KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) via personalized recommendations based on the user behavior. We show through a real-life case study a proof of the correctness of the introduced concept by improving the recommender accuracy when incorporating additional context information about the journey as extracted from the process model.","PeriodicalId":174838,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 6th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128137648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, due to the limited hardware capabilities of IoT devices, the latest trend to arrange IoTaaS is to integrate containerized microservices spread over the Cloud and the Edge of the network. However, the management IoTaaS instances is not trivial due to their underlying complexity and the huge amount of data that have to be considered. In fact, the distributed microservices composing each IoTaaS instance must be continuously monitored in order to guarantee a given Service Level Agreement (SLA). In this paper, we discuss how a NoSQL Graph DataBase Management System (DBMS) can help IoT Cloud providers to monitor and optimize IoTaaS instances. In our experimentation, by considering an IoTaaS smart meeting case study, we compare one of the major NoSQL Graph DBMS, i.e., Neo4j with one of the major Relational DBMS, i.e, Oracle, proving that the first one well scale up than the second one when the number of relations increases.","PeriodicalId":174838,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 6th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121184658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The success of these threats is based on the assumption that biological attacks are invisible and will not be rapidly recognized as deliberate attacks. Current epidemic surveillance systems use data available from sources such as hospitals, clinics, and medical laboratories to analyze epidemic trends over time and are not capable of detecting such threats in a timely manner. In this paper, we present a multi-agent based system for early biological threat detection. At the micro-level, monitored humans are equipped with personal agents that are responsible for capturing the data transmitted by the wearable sensors, performing basic processing and analysis, and transmitting the collected data to higher-level agents for further processing. At the macro-level, a hierarchy of specialized agents are responsible for collecting, analyzing the transmitted data, and rapidly detecting possible epidemic threats. The experimental results show that the proposed model is able to effectively detect and localize epidemic threats with a various number of simulated humans.","PeriodicalId":174838,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 6th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116593806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, similarly to the traditional Internet, IoT is facing many security issues, part of which caused by the presence of an astounding number of vulnerable devices. Researchers have been struggling to improve the security of IoT in many different ways, one of which concerning the employment of intrusion detection systems (IDS) in IoT environments. This paper evaluates the effectiveness of an intrusion detection technique, named PCkAD, in IoT environments. The technique exploits the spatial distribution information of payload data to identify malicious contents. PCkAD was evaluated on two datasets, containing traffic related to sensors and actuators. The experimental results show that PCkAD can be effectively employed to increase the security of IoT environments.","PeriodicalId":174838,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 6th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127950424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many of these requirements cannot be fulfilled by using either technology separately. In order to fulfil such diverse requirements, the integration of Cloud Computing and IoT is emerging as a new paradigm called Cloud of Things (CoT). CoT is expected to host heterogeneous resources and fulfil complex requirements of resource providers and consumers. This complexity poses a real challenge for resource allocation in CoT. To tackle this challenge, resource allocation is described as a trading optimisation problem and utility functions are used to rank candidate resource allocation assignments. The contributions of this paper are 1) introducing vocabularies needed for trading CoT resources 2) proposing a marketplace system architecture to enable efficient trading of CoT resources 3) examining the use of different utility functions to rank candidate resource assignments 4) performing simulations to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach using three optimisation algorithms.","PeriodicalId":174838,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 6th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129801797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, updating real-time traffic and road information is quite essential for limiting road accidents, enhance public and traffic safety. Most of the past research works in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) provided advanced solutions for monitoring road traffic automatically. However, most of these systems overall efficiency depends on deployment of equipment such as actuators and sensors which can be costly. Beside cost factor, it's coverage and performance might also be limited on cities which lacks proper and infrastructures to adapt with them. The rise of the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm offers the promise to support innovative applications and services for smart cities and can even help those lagging cities to smarter and street safer. With this core point, this paper proposes a novel Internet of Things (IoT) based \"Traffic Information Sharing System (TISS) architecture. The proposed architecture utilizes Social Internet of Things (SIoT) alongside with Fog Computing (FC) to provide with efficient traffic information sharing and dissemination for minimizing road accidents, providing street and surrounding awareness.","PeriodicalId":174838,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 6th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127493416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Efficient Data Prediction, Reconstruction and Estimation in Indoor IoT Networks","authors":"Jyotirmoy Karjee, H. Rath, Arpan Pal","doi":"10.1109/FiCloud.2018.00042","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/FiCloud.2018.00042","url":null,"abstract":"In an indoor Internet of Things (IoT) Network such as warehouse, factory and stadium, etc., a large number of IoT devices such as sensors, actuators, robots and drones, etc., continuously capture raw data over a regular interval of time. The captured raw data is then wirelessly transmitted to the gateways, which can be considered as the storing gadgets. These devices can gather, aggregate and analyze sensor data before transmitting to the Cloud. Continuous transmission of similar type of data by the IoT devices can lead to data redundancy, excessive channel utilization and bandwidth usage, etc. To overcome these problems, we develop a Compressive Sensing based Data Prediction (CS-DP) model which predicts data at the gateways by learning the data pattern received from IoT devices. Since there is a possibility of data loss while in transmission from the IoT devices to the gateways and at the gateways due to buffer overflow and other reasons, we propose a Compressive Sensing based Data Reconstruction (CS-DR) mechanism instead of retransmitting the data by the IoT devices. In addition to these, we also propose a Compressive Sensing based Data Estimation (CS-DE) technique which can bring down the volume of the data to be communicated to the cloud and improve the channel and space utilization of the system. All the above Compressive Sensing techniques are deployed at the gateways instead of the IoT devices or the cloud. This improves the system performance in terms of delay, communication and computation complexity and makes the system realizable in practice. Based on real data-set provided by an indoor test-bed, we conduct extensive MATLAB simulations to compare the performance of our proposed schemes with respect to the state of the art.","PeriodicalId":174838,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 6th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121353800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
