FPA has quickly drawn the attention of the research community due to its nature of both exploitation and exploration. In this paper we have introduced a novel variation in its mutation operation by linearly varying the value of its proximate probability parameter. We have evaluated the proposed algorithm on a number of benchmark problems and the experimental results are compared with the basic FPA. The empirical study indicates that the proposed FPA with variable exploration rate has better optimization performance than the basic FPA algorithm on most of the benchmark functions.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116386966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a creative, informal and traditional way of dropping and picking messages in a set of small open-fronted compartments usually used in a workplace or other organizations where letters or messages may be left for individuals. The chain of exchange is a kind of ‘give-and-return’. It is a bi-directional ‘pick-and-respond’ information transmission mode. Internal and informal investigations carried out in most departments in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, Nigeria, however show that the purpose of this dual-mode communication is most times defeated as recipients of pigeonhole-kept information are remote and unaware of any ‘visitor’ awaiting them. The researchers therefore deem it fit to close up this gap and ensure maximal consumption of the benefits pigeonhole system offers. We are therefore poised through this study, to design and implement a mobile-based, interactive and informative pigeonhole alert system that captures information meant to be archived in a pigeonhole, disseminate the information and monitor the receipt or otherwise of same with appropriate feedbacks. The proposed system allowed for easy and enhanced communication between the administrator incharge of messages (e.g. the office clerk) and the recipients, to ensure proper dissemination of information. The design and implementation were accomplished using Java and XML components of Android Software Development Kit (SDK).","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133979608","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the entry of cloud-computing has brought a significant revolution in the area of automation, which is expected to make the complete SCM process a ubiquitous one. There is a less focus on SCM process improvement in order to keep pace with faster changing dynamics of technologies, and this hypothesis is explored in proposed review work. Nowadays, it is used in other electronic items other than mobile phones like TV, Camera, etc. The purpose of this study is to find out the difference in performance between the different methods for developing applications due to an increasing market for platform independent applications. In this research work, we present our current findings concerning performance efficiency in cross-platform and native mobile applications (apps) and how they can contribute to a general benchmarking approach. At first, several test cases for evaluating performance of mobile applications are described with which two applications where built to implement a mathematical calculation for both native and hybrid respectively. This is used as benchmark because of the recursive nature and memory usage of both applications for CPU and memory usage. Then, the performance efficiency of native and hybrid apps is compared on a mobile device. The results show that hybrid applications still suffer performance issues in comparison to native apps. The performance deviations and reasons for them are discussed and evaluated. It is concluded that the performance of mobile applications is crucial to user experience and satisfaction.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134161855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research performed till date highlights this very specific drawback of energy consumption in MANETs and by applying the protocol named Ad-hoc on Demand Multipath Distance Vector with the Fitness function (FF-AOMDV) and Dragonfly topology we had minimized it. The fitness function is used to find the best path from the supply to the destination to reduce the energy consumption in multipath routing by using Dragonfly topology. The performance of the proposed FF-AOMDV protocol with dragonfly topology was evaluated using Network simulator Version 2 (NS-2), where the performance was compared with AOMDV and Ad-hoc on Demand Multipath Routing with Life Maximization (AOMRLM) protocols, the two most popular protocols of this area. The comparison was done to evaluate performance metrics such as energy consumption, throughput, packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, network lifetime and routing overhead ratio by varying the node speed, packet size and simulation time. The results clearly demonstrate that the proposed FFAOMDV protocol with Dragonfly topology outperformed AOMDV and AOMR-LM under majority of the network performance metrics and parameters.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125316197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resolution of the array is considered to be (2X1). The dimensions of the proposed antenna (width and length in ‘mm’) are taken as 8.3 mm x 5.75 mm. Also to improve the radiation properties combined H and dual U slots are cut on the antenna array elements. The theoretical calculations are done according to the considered dimension parameters using the standard patch antenna parameters, where the resonant frequency is found out to be “11 GHz”. Now the proposed antenna is simulated using HFSS software. The ground plane is considered with the dimensions 26 mm x 16 mm. The dielectric is taken to be FR4 epoxy substrate. Strip-line feeding (inset-fed) is used to feed the antenna array. The simulated results showed the proposed antenna to be working at 11.03 GHz with return loss of -31.10 dB and a VSWR of ‘1.05’. The existing literatures were reviewed to found that existing solution are more pivotal towards accuracy in classification and less towards achieving computational effectiveness in classification process. Therefore, this paper presents a novel classification approach that bridges the trade-off between computational performances of classifier with its final response towards disease criticality. An analytical framework is built that takes the input of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of breast cancer which is subjected to non-linear map-based filter for enhancing pre-processing operation. The algorithm also offers a novel integral transformation scheme that lets the filtered image to get itself transformed followed by precise extraction of foreground and background for assisting in reliable classification. A statistical-based approach is used for extracting feature followed by classifying using unsupervised learning algorithm. The study outcome shows superior performance compared to existing schemes of classification.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"496 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126352816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When developing a TV White Space (TVWS) system with the available TV spectrum after digital switchover, channel allocation for TVWS devices to avoid interference becomes one of the most challenging problems. Analysis has shown that there exist large quantities of these TVWS in many locations in Nigeria especially with the ongoing digital switch over. Having a proper mechanism for the allocation of these TVWS to devices known as white space devices (WSD) have been a serious concern. Thus, this paper proposes a hybrid model of fuzzy rule based technique and genetic algorithm for optimal allocation of the TVWS. The result shows that the available TVWS were maximally allocation to WSD on a real time basis. The implementation of this model will bring an alternative source for most smart devices that have been competing for the scarce spectrum as raised by the communication industries. These devices can be deployed to these unutilized spectra at low or no cost thereby freeing most of the spectrum bands.","PeriodicalId":174733,"journal":{"name":"Communications on Applied Electronics","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116976986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
