This paper analyzes modern wireless transceiver calibration methods: feedforward, feedback, hybrid and indirect. Main parameters to calibrate are: I/Q gain and phase imbalance, DC offset and second order input intercept point. Classic PA architecture is compared to a SB (SB) PA in order to determine an architecture that offers the widest input impedance match without external component tuning. Both amplifiers presented in this paper have been designed to output an average of 10.5 dBm of continuous wave (CW) power with 1.8 V supply. The classic PA architecture is tuned to 1.9 GHz central frequency by external components and has a bandwidth of 500 MHz at S11=−10 dB. The SB PA architecture has an operating range spanning from 0.8 GHz to 2.2 GHz at S11=−10 dB. SB PA has a higher power added efficiency (PAE) at output compression point (OR-P1dB) in the whole 1.2 GHz–2.4 GHz range by 3 %–7 % with a peak efficiency of 31 %. Most of rate adaption algorithms are not standardized and there are no rules on how one should operate. Therefore, this part of IEEE 802.11 is handled entirely by wireless vendors. Although, while IEEE 802.11 moved forward and introduced several performance increases with Quality of Service introduction, including IEEE 802.11ac wireless modulation and similar, rate control remained the same. Even now, IEEE 802.11ac re-uses the very first approach of rate control algorithm, because despite many attempts to improve the performance of rate control algorithms by introducing different methods to use statistical data for rate control knowledge, only few were successful in adding a difference in performance. This paper discusses hybrid rate control usage for IEEE 802.11. Most of the algorithms to this date are used on station device and on Access Point. In this paper we take a different approach and adapt a different rate control algorithm, which is based on the device operational mode, thus leveraging both the Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) based algorithm capabilities and the Packet Error Rate (PER) capabilities. The proposed architecture performs the computation of azimuth and elevation angles of the speaker location in a real-time. Time-difference of arrival (TDOA) features are computed for a grid with four microphones. The speaker position is estimated by matching the features with the acoustic maps. The influence of line and square placement of the microphones is evaluated. The average azimuth errors for square grids with aperture 0.4 m, 0.6 m, 0.8 m are up to ±7°, ±5° and ±4° respectively. That is why the article investigates possibility to use binary ART classifier for the flexible automatic parameterization of biological sample images. In order to evaluate influence of electroporation semi automatic cell colonies detection system is created. For the investigation developed cell colonies image parameterization technique is used. Developed technique deals with specifics in biological sample image registration, Petri dish area determination, cell colonies detection and parameterization, and incorporation of ART classifier. Experimental investigation is carried out in order to check reliability of cell colony count as also as efficiency of cell colony parameterization. Results of experimental verification confirm that the use of ART1 classifier increases trustworthiness of the parameterization of images with cell colonies in terms of sensitivity and specificity.
