This study aimed at investigating determinants of youths’ involvement in agriculture and their impact on agriculture income for different entry mode. \u0000Methodology: The study used both qualitative and quantitative data from young farmers’ beneficiaries of PEA-Youth and PCP AFOP public programs living in Central and Coastal Regions in Cameroon. \u0000Findings: The study found out that age, number of dependent children, matrimonial status, presence of parents in agriculture, education, distance between farm and market, migrate from urban to rural before and the presence of public program for integration in agriculture are keys determinants of the different involvement ways in agriculture in Cameroon. Besides, qualitative analysis shows that farmers declare more pull or positive factors that have led them to entry into agriculture and amongst these factors the reasons such as profitability and autonomy of food security for the family are the most common. \u0000Conclusion: It is more profitable for farmers to adopt agriculture by integration as first work or by mobility, rather than by diversification. \u0000Recommendation: Public programs should promote agriculture by integration as first work or by mobility and target that kind of profile during the selection process of youth.

A multi-stage sampling method was used to select 170 maize farmers from the communities for the study. The data was collected using a semi-structured questionnaire and analysed using SPSS version 23.0 software. Frequencies, Percentages, Mean, Chi-square Test of Independence and Kendall’s Coefficient of Concordance were used for data analysis. \u0000Findings: The study found that the most utilized source of agricultural information by maize farmers in Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality was agricultural extension agents. It was also observed that there was a significant relationship between farm ownership type, educational level, access to credit, extension visits, farming experience, and access to agricultural information. The study also found that the main agricultural information needs of the maize farmers in Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality were disease and pest management. Also, the inadequate number of extension agents was the main challenge faced by farmers in accessing and using agricultural information in the municipality. \u0000Conclusion: The study conclude that farmers received most of their information from agricultural extension agents, radio and farmers. Access to agricultural information is influence by socio-economic characteristics of farmers. \u0000Recommendations: The study recommends that extension agents to be well equipped and trained, as well as increasing their number by the government through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Also, farmers must be well communicated to and educated using local strategies as well as encouraging them to join Farmer Based Organisations (FBOs).

Efforts have been made by both the central and county governments to address food insecurity through low levels of technological acquisition to small-farm holdings. This study is prompted by declining production especially in stable foods in Bungoma South Sub-County. The paper examines challenges and strategies of adoption of One Acre Fund (OAF) agriculture innovation program adoption among smallholder maize farmers, Bungoma County. Specifically, the paper examines challenges and strategies of improving One Acre Fund agricultural innovation program in Bungoma South Sub-County. \u0000Methodology: The paper employed descriptive survey design to accommodate qualitative and qualitative data-. Data collection was done using questionnaires, interview schedules, focus group discussions, and direct observation of 204 OAF households. The secondary data was collected from published materials. Data were analyzed using simple descriptive statistics while quantitative data was filtered, coded, and analyzed using the Social Sciences Statistical Package (SPSS). The regression analysis was used to determine the correlation between dependent and independent variables. Quantitative data was analyzed using chi-square and pairwise ranking. \u0000Findings: Various challenges affecting the adoption of OAF program were identified such as small farm size, infertile and leached soil, climate variability, high cost of inputs and high interest on repaying of loans. Pairwise ranking was run to determine strategies for enhanced adoption. Reduced loan repayment interest, crop insurance, reduced cost of farm inputs, awareness on existing OAF innovations and increased use of fertilizers were identified as strategies for enhancing adoption. Pearson moments correlation results showed a positive relationship between OAF income generation and income improvement with correlation coefficient of rs = 0.5. \u0000Conclusion: The study concludes that adoption of OAF innovation is low among smallholder farmers. This is because of the high cost of repayment of loans on inputs. The main strategy to enhance increased adoption was reduction of loan repayment interest. \u0000Recommendation: The study recommends the need to increase the participation of youths in the OAF Programs through mentorship and education. OAF management should scale up its program to accommodate even farmers with large farms. It should also introduce a program that tailors towards crop diversification to offer a variety to farmers to make choices on which crops to adopt.

The experiment was performed in Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam, Sindh, Pakistan, to study and quantify the effect of different types of seed priming on the seed germination percentage and shoot and root length of pea. \u0000Methodology: The experiment was laid down in randomized complete block design with split plot arrangements. Five different priming treatments we used; T1 Soaking in water for 12 hours, T2 Soaking in 50oC hot water for 10 minutes, T3 Soaking in 2% NaCl solution for 10 minutes, T4 Soaking in 50% H2SO4 solution for 10 minutes, T5 Control (no priming). \u0000Findings: The results indicated a significant/ high effect of the priming treatments on the germination percentage, length of shoot, and length of roots. The highest germination percentage about (98%), the highest length of shoot about (4.26 cm), and the highest length of root about (10.92 cm) were observed from T3. The lowest germination percentage about (76%), the lowest length of shoot about (2.24cm), or the lowest length of root about (1.12 cm), result was observed from the (T5). These treatments were followed by germination percentage of about (94%), shoot length about (3.54 cm), and the length of root about (9.74 cm) from T2. It was followed by germination percentage of (88%) shoot length about (3.34 cm), length of root about (8.28 cm) from T1. This was followed by the germination percentage about (86%), shoot length about (2.44 cm), and length of root about (8.4 cm) from T4. \u0000Conclusion: Result of this experiment show significant effect of the priming treatment on the majority of seed germination and growth of components in the pea grain, including seed germination percentage, shoot and root length of pea. \u0000Recommendations: The study recommended that farmers to adopt seed priming. These practices among smallholder’s farmers should focus on enhancement of farmer awareness and know about seed priming. When farmers see that seed does not germinate properly like they expect, they should apply seed priming treatments.

The study randomly selected 150 beneficiaries appearing in the list of 30,643 beneficiaries provided by Makueni County Long Rains Food Security Assessment Report (2013). This study used primary data which was collected through use of a questionnaire. After data had been collected through questionnaires, it was prepared in readiness for analysis by editing, handling blank responses, coding, categorizing and keying into Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) computer software for analysis. \u0000Findings: The study findings indicated that agroforestry is beneficial to farmers in several ways. They can access tree products such as fuel wood, herbs, fodder and vegetables among others within their farms rather than traveling to forests, making it cheaper and less time consuming. The time saved can be invested in productive activities and subsequently improve incomes and livelihoods. It is therefore important to underscore that agroforestry practices and scaling \u0000Conclusion: It can be concluded that the farmers were happy about the government initiative of distributing seeds. Free seed encourages planting of trees and woodlots by individual land users, institutions and community groups. Agroforestry can help in maintaining a viable system of green and open spaces for a functioning eco-system and work towards the achievement and maintenance of a tree cover of at least 10% of the land area of Kenya \u0000Recommendations: The study recommends for rigorous mobilization and sensitization of the community on need for active involvement in agroforestry. It is mountainous, containing part of the montane forest of Nyungwe, one of Rwanda's most popular tourist destinations. Innovation and adoption of new technologies in agriculture is one of the keys that should reduce poverty in that area. The aim of this study is to analyse the factors influencing farmer’s adoption of organic coffee production practices in Rwanda.\u0000Methodology: This study employed a cross-sectional survey design and a multi-stage sampling technique to select a sample for this study. However, a total sample size of 150 respondents was used. The functional form of the stochastic frontier production (or cost) model employed for this study is the Cobb-Douglas (C-D) functional form. In the analysis, descriptive statistics and a Tobit model were used with the help of STATA. \u0000Findings: The study found out that appropriate seeds and planting material is one of the most important factors in production. The findings of logit regression analysis also indicated that four factors such as education level, land size, farming experience, gender and enhanced soil fertility had positive and significant influence on adoption of organic coffee production practices. The demand for organic products creates new export opportunities. The market returns from organic agriculture can potentially contribute to local food security by increasing family incomes.\u0000Conclusion: The study conclude that the most common constraints to adoption of organic coffee production practices were lack stable and reliable market, high cost of inputs, lack of extension services, and inadequate capital.\u0000Recommendations: The study recommended that efforts aiming at promoting organic coffee production practices among smallholder’s farmers should focus on enhancement of farmer-awareness, provision of training and technical advice on organic farming practices. This can be achieved through agricultural extension services and developing information networks among farmers. Also, the government should strive to improve extension services through field visit and strive to stabilize coffee markets.
