The investigation of muroid rodents includes three stages: general faunistic (1740–1940), populational (40–80 XX cent.) and modern researches (from the end of XX cent.) Scientific papers for the last 250 years and data from Chronicles ofnature of NEPA (Natural Enviroment Protected Areas) of Ternopil region were examined. The first stage is distinguished by accumulating of sporadic data about species richest and economic value of muroid rodents. The second period is characterized by more detail studies about systematics of muroid rodents, their distribution and ecology, these as-pects were only superficially investigated before. Research papers about the investigation of species dynamic and biotopical distribution of muroid rodents in Ternopil region characte-rize the third stage of muroid rodent’s investigation. It was shown, that systematic studies of muroid rodents in Ternopil region, wich highly increased in last few decades, were mainly conducted by scientists from objects of Nature Enviroment Protected Areas. As a result of the analysis of many years of research by the scientists of the Ternopil region, a list of 14 species of muroid rodents was compiled: the Muridae family: Micromys minutus Pall., Apodemus agrarius Pall., Rattus norvegicus Berk., Mus musculus L., Syl tauricus sylvaticus agrestis It is important to carry out new studies to specify the species composition, popula-tions of populations, changes in the biotic diversity of muroid rodents as a result of anthro-pogenic transformation of the environment, as well as the application of modern methods of ecological and faunal studies in the Ternopil region.","PeriodicalId":173155,"journal":{"name":"Visnyk of Lviv University. Prior studies conducted by other research groups provided indirect evidence obtained with immunochemistry and PCR approaches suggesting the presence of this ion channel in the smooth muscle cells (BSM) of the urinary bladder though the functional data is still absent. In this study we investigated the effect of capsaicin (CAP), a pungent component of hot chili pepper and an agonist of TRPV1, on the transmembrane currents and the Ca 2+ signaling of the bladder smooth muscle cells of the rat. CAP at the saturating concentration of 10 μM had no influence on the trans membrane currents of BSMs registered with the whole-cell patch clamp technique which suggests the absence of TRPV1 in the plasma membrane of these cells. Along with this negative data the control electrophysiological recordings on the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons was conducted showing the presence of CAPS-evoked currents in this cells. On the opposite, the application of this pharmacological agent induced the apparent Ca 2+ response in calcium imaging experiments with the Ca 2+ -sensitive fluorescent dye Fluo-4 AM in 42 % of the BSMs examined. At the same time, the rest of these cells showed no calcium influx though their viability was validated with control cholinoreceptor agonist, carbachol (CCh), in the concentration of 100 μM. Therefore, our findings suggest the previously unreported expression of TRPV1 in the part of the BSMs and its subcellular localization in the sarco plasmic reticulum of these cells.","PeriodicalId":173155,"journal":{"name":"Visnyk of Lviv University. Chebotar, Cultivar Investigation","doi":"10.30970/VLUBS.2019.80.10","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30970/VLUBS.2019.80.10","url":null,"abstract":"Modern Ukrainian bread wheat varieties are not enough characterized by the alleles of Ppd genes and there is very restricted information about haplotypes of these genes in Ukrainian wheat genetic pool. The dominant alleles ( a ) of Ppd-A1 (2A), Ppd-B1 (2B), Ppd-D1 (2D) genes reduce sensitivity to photoperiod thus shorten the period until earing and genotypes with recessive alleles ( b ) have a strong reaction to the photoperiod. Haplotypes of Ppd-D1 gene could also affect photoperiod sensitivity. According to PCR analysis with allele specific primers most investigated varieties were characterized by Ppd-A1b and Ppd-B1b alleles. 40 varieties (81.2 %) had the deletion upstream the coding region of Ppd-D1 gene, that distinguish Ppd-D1a allele. Also, we analyzed haplotypes of Ppd-D1 gene. There was shown presence of VII haplotype of Ppd-D1 gene for 79.6 % of varieties. The varieties with I (2 %), II (6 %), III (10 %) haplotypes of the Ppd-D1 gene were less frequent. One variety was heterogeneous by Ppd-D1a/b alleles. From the tested ones only varieties of winter bread wheat from The V.M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat (MIP) were polymorphic by investigated genes that highlight the importance of Ppd-A1b , Ppd-B1b and Ppd-D1a alleles for environmental conditions in the Ukraine. The haplotype (III) was detected in genotypes of 5 varieties – three of them from MIP and in varieties Etos and Yevdokiia. Also this haplotype was found in the well known old variety created in 1938 year – Odes’ka 3 – by Guo et al. [14], thus transposable element (TE) insertion in the 1 intron of Ppd-D1 gene was historically present in the background of Ukrainian wheats. Simultaneously, spring wheat varieties have higher level of genetic polymorphism at Ppd-D1 loci than winter bread wheat varieties, maybe this locus and sensitivity to photoperiod is not critical for adaptability of spring wheat.","PeriodicalId":173155,"journal":{"name":"Visnyk of Lviv University. The study was conducted on 24 spontaneously hypertensive (SHR lines) male rats in the spring period of the year. At the end of the experiment, the age of the animals was 4 months. Blood pressure in rats was determined at the caudal artery using a sphygmomanometer (S-2 “SHE” Germany). The rats were divided into 2 groups: I – control animals, and II – rats exposed to combined INH and melatonin. The experimental animals were daily given a hypoxic gas mixture (12 % O 2 ) in intermittent mode: 15 min deoxygenation/15 min reoxygenation during 2 hours. Another time of day (22 hours) the rats breathed air. Melatonin (“Unipharm Inc., USA”) was daily administered orally in a dose of 5 mg/kg at 10.00 a.m. The total duration of the experiment was 28 days. Histological preparations were prepared according to a standard methodic. Histomorphometry of the digital images of preparations was carried out using the computer program «Image J». It was found that 28-day combined effect of INH and melatonin has morphological signs of increasing the functional activity of the thyroid of spontaneously hypertensive rats. This is indicated by a decrease in the size of the follicles and colloid, an increase in the number of thyroid cells in the follicle, an increase in the follicular-colloidal index and a decrease in the colloid accumulation index, and a decrease in the width of the interfollicular connective tissue la-yers. These data may have not only a theoretical value, but also some practical interest in the use of hypoxic gas mixtures and melatonin to enhance the function of the thyroid gland in people suffering from arterial hypertension.","PeriodicalId":173155,"journal":{"name":"Visnyk of Lviv University.
