This system will serve the users (learners, teachers, tutors) of our virtual laboratory during the assistance and evaluation process. It also makes it possible for the teachers to be aware of the progress status of the work. Another characteristic is added, it is a question of designing a model for the average learner based on his/her actions and reactions. The functionalities supported by this system are: the supervision in real-time (teachers and learners are connected simultaneously), supervision in differed time (using the activities' history) and guiding the learners.","PeriodicalId":173102,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Innovations in Information Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130486054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper reports on some of our work aimed at designing text mining and query pre-processing tools that are able to efficiently process and search large quantities of Arabic web data. In our research we try to address the challenges Arabic poses for natural language processing (NLP) and information retrieval: root extraction, language detection, and Arabic query correction, suggestion and expansion. While not reported in detail here, we are also developing tools for automatic Arabic document categorization. All through, we employ a statistical/Corpus-based approach based on data obtained from a variety of sources. Based on corpus statistics we constructed databases of words and their frequencies as single, double and triple expressions and used that as the infrastructure for the well structured search aid tools that are able to handle the sophisticated nature of Arabic, and capable of being integrated into existing web search engines and document processing systems. We also utilize context analysis and spellchecking of the user queries to enable a more complete and efficient search. While the results reported here are promising, they must be viewed as work in progress, still in need of testing, refining, integration and deployment in real life settings.","PeriodicalId":173102,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Innovations in Information Technology","volume":"245 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128815093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The MediaEvo Project aims to develop a multi-channel and multi-sensory platform for edutainment in cultural heritage for the realization of a digital didactic game oriented towards knowledge of medieval history and society by means of the integration of human sciences and data processing technologies. It deals with historical findings, geomorphological inquiries, data management systems and the definition of a virtual immersive platform for playing and educating. This paper introduces the theoretical questions related to the educational use of Virtual Reality technology and describes the steps in the reconstruction of the town of Otranto in the Middle Ages: data collection and integration, organization of work, peripherals and software applications. During its definition, the platform that has been planned for educational purposes has proved to be useful for testing researchers' hypotheses about the ancient town and its everyday life. At the end of project, other research fields have been tested on the game: new peripherals for motion and interaction, virtual treasure hunts, Augmented Reality and evaluation studies for territorial marketing and tourism.","PeriodicalId":173102,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Innovations in Information Technology","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126446691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We also report the effect of different parameters on quality of the programs and time needed for finding the solution.","PeriodicalId":173102,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Innovations in Information Technology","volume":"52 25","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113993263","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main criticism of existing works is that most of them are interested in the characterization of Latin historical documents, and they are up to now no many methods that can perform the discrimination between these different language old document images. Regions of images having the same size (256*256 pixels) were extracted from our heterogeneous base. Fractal dimension method is used to discriminate between ancient Arabic and Latin scripts. We achieve 95.87% accuracy on the discrimination between Arabic and Latin ancient document collections. The main advantage of our approach is that it can be easily adapted for the identification of other ancient document collections and we can have better recognition rates by adding relative features of each document base. The encouraging and promising results lead us to study the retrieval of ancient images based on the same technique in order to retrieve similar collections to the image request.","PeriodicalId":173102,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Innovations in Information Technology","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122581634","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This technique makes use of diacritics (vowel signs), which are optional to put, by showing or omitting them to hide bits. The technique is found to be very useful due to the considerable provided capacity, and because every possible diacritic in the cover text is used to hide bits. In this method, even excluded or omitted diacritics will be hiding bits. Tests and comparisons show that the proposed technique is superior in matter of capacity to any related published work.","PeriodicalId":173102,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Innovations in Information Technology","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116595450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

System reliability becomes an issue because of the system complexity, the large number of components and nanoscale issues due to soft errors. While information redundancy techniques can be used for fault tolerance, they occupy too much memory space and increase the memory and network bandwidth. Moreover, in many-cores, resources are plentiful encouraging the design of simple cores without hardware fault tolerance. Thus in the absence of information redundancy, software fault detection techniques become necessary to detect errors. Herein, we present fault detection techniques for 2×2 matrix multiplication which we extend to nxn matrix multiplication. These tests can detect transient and some intermittent and permanent hardware faults. These tests are also suitable to computing grids and distributed heterogeneous systems where the result-forming node may run tests in software to validate the sub-results submitted by the grid nodes.","PeriodicalId":173102,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Innovations in Information Technology","volume":"284 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131417421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
