Considering the <i>C</i><sub>3</sub><i><sub>v</sub></i> symmetry of the vacancy site beyond the spherical approximation, we clarify the effect of a deviation from the spherical symmetry on spin resonance transition rate, which can be changed by rotating a static magnetic field. The ratios of spin–strain coupling parameters can be evaluated from the anisotropic field-direction dependence of the transition rate using a standing or traveling surface acoustic wave. We also discuss the effect of the propagation direction of the acoustic wave tilted from the crystallographic mirror plane reflecting the <i>C</i><sub>3</sub><i><sub>v</sub></i> symmetry. The results presented here reveal the quadrupole properties inherent in spin-3/2 states and will promote the realization of the acoustically driven strain control of spin.","PeriodicalId":17304,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Physical Society of Japan","volume":"38 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138575129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The band structure calculation predicts Kramers–Weyl degeneracy at the time reversal invariant momentum points. Although IrGe<sub>4</sub> does not have a well-defined cleavage plane, we could observe momentum-dependent ARPES intensity modulations by ARPES. The ARPES intensity near the Fermi level was enhanced around the M and K points where the Ge 4<i>p</i> bands are located at about 0.3 eV below the Fermi level both in the calculation and in the experiment. Although the overall band dispersion of the Ge 4<i>p</i> and Ir 5<i>d</i> bands agrees with the calculation, surface states between the Kramers–Weyl points are not clearly observed probably due to roughness of the fractured surface.","PeriodicalId":17304,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Physical Society of Japan","volume":"49 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138575108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To clarify the origin of the CIMT of SmS, the electronic structure change has been investigated by optical reflectivity and angle-integrated photoelectron spectra by applying an electric current. At lower temperatures than about 100 K, where the nonlinear <i>V</i>–<i>I</i> curve has been observed, the carrier density rapidly increases, accompanied by decreasing relaxation time of carriers with increasing current. Then, the direct gap size increases, and the mean valence changes from Sm<sup>2+</sup>-dominant SmS to the mixed-valent one with increasing current. These results suggest that the CIMT originates from increasing the Sm 4<i>f</i>-5<i>d</i> hybridization intensity induced by the applied current.","PeriodicalId":17304,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Physical Society of Japan","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138547796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We applied the multichannel bosonization method to the electronic band structures derived from two different atomic models of fullerene polymers. Both the obtained analytical formulation and numerical calculations revealed significant differences between the two models in the energy dependence of the spectral functions, despite the slight difference in their atomic arrangement. These results indicate that the precise atomic arrangement of synthesized fullerene polymers can be determined using spectral function data obtained by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy.","PeriodicalId":17304,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Physical Society of Japan","volume":"30 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138513472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The quasiparticle energy is derived from the MLA-base excited state wavefunction within the single-site approximation. The quasiparticle weight and quasiparticle energy have been calculated for the Hubbard model on the hypercubic lattice in infinite dimensions as well as the simple cubic lattice. By comparing the numerical results with the single-particle excitation spectra obtained by the Green function method, it is shown that the MLA excited wavefunctions describe well the quasiparticle states in the weak and intermediate Coulomb interaction regime in the high dimensional system.","PeriodicalId":17304,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Physical Society of Japan","volume":"2 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136227094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
