The problem is modeled as a matching game with externalities and a novel algorithm is proposed to solve the game which converges to a stable matching between the D2D users. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our model in offloading the cellular networks traffic to the D2D tier.","PeriodicalId":172015,"journal":{"name":"2015 49th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123467600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A key distinguishing characteristic of mmWave is its use of highly directional and steerable antennas. In addition, future networks will be highly densified through the proliferation of base stations and their supporting infrastructure. With the aim of further improving the overall throughput of the network by mitigating the effect of frequency-selective fading and co-channel interference, 5G cellular networks are also expected to aggressively use frequency- hopping. This paper outlines an analytical framework that captures the main characteristics of a 5G cellular uplink. This framework is used to emphasize the benefits of network infrastructure densification, antenna directivity, mmWave propagation characteristics, and frequency hopping.","PeriodicalId":172015,"journal":{"name":"2015 49th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127676238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper investigates the efficacy of two promising multi-carrier waveforms that reduce OOB emissions in combination with large-scale MIMO, namely filter bank multi-carrier (FBMC) and generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM). We develop novel, low-complexity data detection algorithms for both of these waveforms. We investigate the associated performance/complexity trade-offs in the context of large-scale MIMO, and we study the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Our results show that reducing the OOB emissions with FBMC and GFDM leads to higher computational complexity and PAPR compared to that of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) and single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA).","PeriodicalId":172015,"journal":{"name":"2015 49th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134162215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recent results have demonstrated a fundamental limit for this problem when using spectral analysis of modularity. In this paper, we demonstrate the implication of these results on subgraph detection when a cue vertex is provided, indicating one of the vertices in the community of interest. Several recent algorithms for local community detection are applied in this context, and we compare their empirical performance to that of the simple method used to derive the theoretical detection limits.","PeriodicalId":172015,"journal":{"name":"2015 49th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116494463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Common signal processing operations such as sampling and filtering, which have been used for decades to compress signals are often undefined in data that is characterized by heterogeneity, high dimensionality, and lack of known structure. In this article, we describe and demonstrate an approach to sample large datasets such as social media data. We evaluate the effect of sampling on a common predictive analytic: link prediction. Our results indicate that greatly sampling a dataset can still yield meaningful link prediction results.","PeriodicalId":172015,"journal":{"name":"2015 49th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127584849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, sparse decomposition is used for image segmentation. The proposed algorithm separates the background and foreground using a sparse-smooth decomposition technique such that the smooth and sparse components correspond to the background and foreground respectively. This algorithm is tested on several test images from HEVC test sequences and is shown to have superior performance over other methods, such as the hierarchical k-means clustering in DjVu. We formulate a dynamic non-cooperative game to study the energy dispatch within multiple utility companies, while we take a coalitional perspective on REGs and buildings demands through a hedonic coalition formation game approach. In this case, building demands request different power supply from REGs, then the building demands can be organized into an ultimate coalition structure through a distributed hedonic shift algorithm. At the same time, utility companies can also obtain a stable power generation profile. In addition, the interactive progress among the utility companies and building demands which cannot be supplied by REGs is implemented by distributed game theoretic algorithms. Numerical results illustrate that the proposed hybrid coalitional-noncooperative game scheme reduces the cost of both building demands and utility companies compared with the initial scene.","PeriodicalId":172015,"journal":{"name":"2015 49th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117024431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a robust KKF model that explicitly accounts for presence of measurement outliers. Exploiting outlier sparsity, a novel ℓ1-regularized estimator that jointly predicts the spatial-temporal process at unmonitored locations, while identifying measurement outliers is put forth. Numerical tests are conducted on a synthetic Internet protocol (IP) network, and real transformer load data. Test results corroborate the effectiveness of the novel estimator in joint spatial prediction and outlier identification.","PeriodicalId":172015,"journal":{"name":"2015 49th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers","volume":"425 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127104896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For that purpose, we give an algorithm to determine the Fixed-Point Formats of all the involved variables (states and outputs). For the sake of generality, the algorithm works in the case of Multiple Inputs Multiple Outputs filters. The computational errors in the intermediate steps of the filter evaluation as well as their accumulation over time are fully taken into account. We handle several rounding modes (round to nearest and truncation) for two's-complement-based Fixed-Point Arithmetic. We address this problem by proposing a new distributed algorithm for a sum of non-necessarily smooth convex functions composed with arbitrary linear operators. In our approach, each function is associated with a node of a graph, which communicates with its neighbors. Our algorithm relies on a primal-dual splitting strategy that avoids to invert any linear operator, thus making it suitable for processing high-dimensional datasets. The proposed algorithm has a wide array of applications in signal/image processing and machine learning and its convergence is established.","PeriodicalId":172015,"journal":{"name":"2015 49th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117196784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
